      but in your pictures they don’t match.

      Actually, I just provided a link to the thread in question.  The pictures and accompanying text are by knp7765, a fellow member of the Honourable Order of Piece Junkies.

      Thanks for providing knp’s link. It helped seeing the color progression of the units. :-)

      @wittmann:

      I think it was an excellent idea. I cannot paint and really like the idea of different coloured Canadian units.
      I would even throw one Canadian Inf in with the mix, if I bought more than 4 UK units in the Purchase phase, to represent Canadian output(a Tank even!).
      I have always been tempted to buy grey Germans too. they would make perfect Satellite nations for the Eastern Front.

      I am spoilt now that HBG have a European outlet.
      I shall continue to dream of multitudes of multi-coloured troops….

      Speaking of German pieces, I just bought a whole grey German army, in case I want my German forces to be grey, instead of black. I will also use the grey units for my Hungarian forces in the Global '39 game. I bought 10 sets grey German sets, 10 grey axis minor sets and all the old grey units from past axis and allies games. You should see my grey army. It huge now. It not as big as my black German Army.

      My Japanese army is by far my largest. I couldn’t decide on what colors, so I bought them all.  :-D

      @CWO:

      Photos of the blonde units from the original D-Day printing can be seen here:

      http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=23386.0

      I bought a copy of it back when it first came out: it had blonde British pieces, and the troop sculpts for all three nations were of the original early type.  A couple of months ago I bought a sealed second copy of D-Day (hoping to get more blonde British pieces), but I was surprised to run into the same situation J.B. has decribed.  The British pieces were in their current shade of tan, and the troop sculpts for all three nations were of the current “refreshed” type (which, I think, dates back to Anniversary or thereabouts).  One easy way to distinguish them is the bent elbow of the British infantryman, which is solid in the old type but has an open hole in the refreshed type.

      So on the whole, I was disappointed with my second copy of D-Day.  At least it included those little blockhouse pieces, which are unique to the D-Day game.

      Thanks for showing us the pictures. It is weird my 1999 Europe Axis and Allies UK pieces match the 2001 Pacific pieces, but in your pictures they don’t match. I guess they go with what ever color is available at the time.

      I`ll get pic afterwork if I can find them. There in bins somewhere. I use them for neutrals in G40 and other AA games.

      Yes, would love to see your variant troops as well. I hope you can find them.

      @wittmann:

      I have just preordered a set from their European bran h.
      I wish I had seen your post first though John Brown. I was contemplating getting two sets and getting a different colour for Canadian troops would have been a great idea.
      Would have loved that!

      Toblerone: I am not bothered about a French set at the moment
      I might change my mind later on.

      Maybe this is something you can change later on. Food for thought. I just thought I would share my idea for those that are not painting their units. :-)

      @John:

      Coach, what is the difference in the Boxed version of Midway versus  the one available now?

      The boxed game will have a very similar map. Shrunk down a bit for publishing purposes. Probably touched up a bit by a professional. All of the sculpts for the game will be more or less unique and special. The rules will be completely new. Right now they are an extrapolation of Larry’s Guadalcanal rules. But for us to publish the game, it’s only right that we come up with something unique. The naval rules being developed for the boxed game will carry over to other HBG naval games as well making a game system.

      Sweet, that is good news. Looking forward to it! :-D

      I got D-day set with the UK being white. Anybody get that?

      Wow, I’ve never heard anybody get white pieces before. That is crazy.

      @John:

      Those of you, who have this game, is their versions that have it and some that don’t?

      The earlier run had the blonde UK pieces and dark grey German pieces, the later run had black German pieces and the UK pieces in a beige/tan color close to the latest UK color (1941, 1942, Global). The color for the US pieces in both of mine were identical.

      Ok, that is what I thought. Thank you! :-)

      @toblerone77:

      John if you just want blonde units go to Ebay It will cause you a lot less grief my friend. Just picked up a used revised edition of A&A just to get more light green Brits. I asked the seller specifically about the colors because photos can be misleading. Good Luck my friend!

      Thank you buddy! For now on I will ask questions before I pay for an item on Ebay. That is good advice. I just assumed that they were universal. I wom’t make that mistake again.

      Thanks again! :-)

      @coachofmany:

      Yorktown will be in base set as well as Midway game.

      @LHoffman:

      Which US set is slated to have the Yorktown? Some sort of US Base set?

      Just wondering because I am seeing the Essex and Midway in the Expansion but I though the Yorktown was a go also. Wouldn’t want to miss that one.

      I suppose that it would fit in well for an OOB replacement set with the Iowa, B-17, Army M-4, etc…

      @frimmel:

      I’m not really sure what you mean by “blonde” UK units but it is not unheard of for the color of pieces to change from initial production to going out of print.

      It is a lot lighter shade of tan. Thanks for the info! :-)

      Those of you, who have this game, is their versions that have it and some that don’t?

      I bought this mainly for the UK Blonde units. I at least have the game to play, but was so disappointed in not getting those pieces.

      I’m assuming later editions didn’t have the UK Blonde units.

      Am I assuming correctly?

      Thanks,

    • RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!

      These next sets are going to be the best sets HBG has done. Don’t get me wrong I’m excited about the German and American sets, but I’m more excited about the British and French sets, because they are finally getting a set. I’m excited about the British Commandos and the French Foreign Legion.

      I’ve decided the British Tan color will be based out of England. The Celery Green will be all my Canadian Troops, the UK Blonde will be my African Troops and the Old Pacific and Europe Games, which is a darker Tan or Khaki color will represent my troops in India. This my envision for all British and Common wealth troops.

      I’m so happy HBG has this many colors to choose from since some of us don’t paint our pieces.

      I’m extremely excited for the facility set.

      It is great time to be an Axis and Allies Fan. :-D

      @toblerone77:

      @ Yavid, the sets are cool but we have to have a B-29. I have some TT B-29s but an HBG version would be far better. We really need some gliders too. I’m glad to see the Thunderbolt too. A Wildcat or a Hellcat would be great. There’s soooo many units but we really need a Super-fortress, it’s a must.

      I totally agree with this! We do need the B-29. Super excited for the Thunderbolt. The good news is they are pumping out the sets faster than before, which is great news. That means business is good for them. :-D

      @Imperious:

      OK prepare yourselves here are some neat pictures of ONE of THREE sets of sculpts…The French the other two sets are based on German and British respectively. IN each case the OOB pieces are shown side by side for comparison. Remember, the German pieces --ALSO GET --The Zeppelin and storm troopers

      From what i remember all central powers get German style sculpts
      UK and USA share
      French and Russian share
      Not sure what sculpts Italy gets ( think it’s French)
      Plus neutrals use one set ( forgot which)

      If you have OOB maroon units from AAE99 you can create another communist army such as the Warsaw Pact. Im considering using a combination of red Japanese units and light red Russian units to create a Communist China player.

      Tolerone, it is funny you mentioned that. I just ebayed for a AA Europe 99 and already have 3 sets of light red Russian units. I was going for the same thing. Great minds think alike. :-D

      Yes indeed JB!

      The red Russian units match pretty well to the HBG red Japanese and the AAP01 red Japanese units also. That’s why I’m considering them for Chinese/Asian communist units. The Plum I will use for Communist allied minors and insurgents. The yellow green work really well for Nationalist/Pro Western Asian forces.

      I’m going to use the Russian plum units for Spain, until the plum French units come out. :-D

      they are doing france in plum?

      If you go on their site under France, it will tell you the two colors, French Blue and Plum are the colors available for the French units.

      they are putting stuff up right now. in the last 10 mins. The American set went up. A huge French set went up. And the facilities set got a change.

      Wow, ok I will check it out. Thanks buddy! :-D

    • RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ

      @Tigerman77:

      1. Production means: IPC’s produced per turn. So germany starts turn 1 with 52 ipcs but is only producing 24 per turn….+/- whatever they have gained or lost.

      2. Romania is only worth 4 ipcs per turn when an axis country activates them. But, Romania will collect a separate income, or production, of 6 ipcs per turn. They may choose to save or spend ipcs like a regular counrty but may not build more than 3 units per turn. All minor axis countries conqour under the umbrella of the country who activated them.

      Hope this has cleared thing up.

      Ok, that clears it up. Thanks Tigerman77.

      I forgot that 24 is the territory amount and 52 is the money amount. I looked on the Global map, and I believe I accounted for Germanys 24 territorial amount.

      In the OOB games, they have the starting IPC’s the same as the territorial amount, and I think that was where my confusion was.

      I still relatively new to this game.

      Thanks again for answering my questions. :-)
