    • RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.

Also lets not forget that this game can be played by more than 2 people.  I know a lot of us prefer no allies, but some people want 6-7 players.  In that case, who would want to be the US?  If lucky you can fight after round 5 or 6 or whatever?  If you draw US you might as well go home and come back in a few hours.  Call me when you attack pearl!

I like having the US come into the war at a defined time, and not too late because this gives the US player something to do.  I think this is not the place to search for balance.

    • RE: Standard Rules: Japan moving into US Sea Zone before war declared

Wish I could answer this one but we never went to OOB, we moved straight to Alpha 2 figuring there was no reason to learn an outdated rule system, it would just confuse us.

    • RE: Axis combined attack on USA Turn #2 gameplay report

A few things I noticed, how did the Germ trns die?  I assume they were in sz 113.  So UK sacked the trns and then bought a carrier for the ftrs to land?

Also Italy should never be able to invade Gib I1.  UK only needs to leave 1 blocker ship off Tunisia and Italy is hemmed in.  In fact my opponent does this every game, I never have a free hand with Italy.

Has anyone seen Paris not captured and the axis win against competent players?  I ask because in our games when Paris didn’t fall G1 we restarted!

    • RE: Need quick kamikazi ruling in global

I think you can attack unescorted transports, because they would not have any larger combat ships to hide behind.  This would be the only occurrence though because the kamikaze pilots are trained to go for the big combat vessels and not the weak, cheap transport vessels.

    • RE: Question about National Objectives

Yes, and all the NO’s list when they come into effect, is the first line after the national header.

that is a listing of Alpha 2 rules, I suggest you print them out so they are more handy when playing.  Scroll down to the ANZAC NO’s and you tell me if they can get them before going to war with Japan…

    • RE: Should the Allies loot capitals ?

I don’t like the rule either, I think that so long as you have a factory you can earn and spend ipcs.  After you lose your last factory then you hold onto your unspent ipcs until you or an ally liberates one of your factories.  This seems more realistic to me, but I think the current rule is there more to prove that once your capital is captured you might as well surrender.

Moving the US fleets could possibly have the affect of making Japan attack early while they have the positional advantage, this in turn would lead to quicker games (at least in terms of action, who wants to play US and not go to war until round 4 as proposed?)  It also might lend itself to the US putting more production into the Atlantic because that is  where their starting fleet is.  You could even base it around the panama canal, making it 2 turns to anywhere.

    • RE: Question for Krieg… Scramble/combat move phase question?

another example of this in action is attacking an enemy sub.  He might (and probably will) submerge, but its up to the defender so the attacker needs to send enough hardware to the sz to win if the enemy defends.

    • RE: Most common T1 Axis buys

I like to save my I1 money or at minimum buy 1 art or 1 sub.  This way I am guaranteed I2 to be able to afford a CV.

    • RE: Cruisers

meh, I think the aa gun idea is too powerful, although it would result in 1 CA per fleet at least.  The idea I like is to pair them with something, perhaps 1 CA 1 CV grants the CV +1 attack and def.  Something along those lines.

    • RE: U.S. in the Pacific Pre war

They cannot however use facilities in those zones, so US ships would not get to use the advantage of the naval base until at war with the axis.

    • RE: Question for Krieg… Scramble/combat move phase question?

right, you can’t scramble a scramble.  What you would have done is move those japanese scrambling aircraft into the sz in combat movement so they could fight if the defender chose to scramble.  Always assume the enemy will scramble, thats my feeling.

    • RE: New Carriers - For Better or For Worse?

The problem I see with the 2 hit option is it takes away one of the perks of the BB.  Now all capital ships add an ablative wound?  I liked the older system where ablative wounds were the reason to get bbs.

Meh, I guess I’ll House Rule em to 11.

yeah, in my house we turn them up to 11 too, cause 11 is louder than 10.

      I don get it

    • RE: Scramble Question

Krieg usually only chimes in if there is an error in the advice you already got.  Since he hasn’t chimed in, I guess that means its right.  KCDZIM also added some useful information, if the sz cannot become a battlezone due to scrambling you do not have to move the units in combat movement….so if it can be a battlezone…

    • RE: Carrier question! Anybody plz (OR KREIG!)

exactly, in fact it isn’t correct…you read it wrong.  You have to save as many planes as possible, the remaining ones die because the carrier they were going to land on did not make it.(that sz still has enemy vessels in it, your sub attack didn’t work)

    • RE: Huge Russian Stack of Infantry Problem

Yes that is true though unlikely, a game occurrence I have never seen because the Italian aircraft are always operating in the Med defending their fleet or even in Africa trying to carve out a beachead.  That is why the Rus bb block works so well.  Also Gamerman is right in that 114 is the best blocking sz for the Russians, because 113 is serviced by a naval base in WGerm.
