sadly the game we were playing was a KGF game. Germany is just too strong, but I do like the first round take buy to keep Germany from stacking in Karelia R1.

Yeah I have thought about strafing it, this move may bring troops quickly from Jordan to Caucasus and the armor could reinforce a british stack in Eastern Europe next round.

But this definately exposes the Egypt stack (which then should move to Congo)
Bunnies is right (I think this is what he implies) advancing the Egypt stack to Jordan while having a stack in Persia, that Japan can not take out, gives Japan something to think about.
He can probably not take out the Jordan stack and still keep control of India, and after India falls he has to worry about FIC, meaning he has to get that big fleet back to Japan for reinforcements.

If he stacks up in India then the (currently Egypt) US inf stack merges wth the armor stack in Persia, and this buys me another round or two before Japan can advance.

But I actually do not have to take this decision before I have seen the first round of combat.

Why use the carrier for worthless battles?  Take out the Japan transport with it, and take out FIC (if you build and India complex, but hope that the Russians sent a tank, fighter and two inf to back it up…I know, I know…it will take two turns for inf to get there) with the fighter, two inf, and Cruiser.  Odds still are against you, but at least eliminate the two inf there if you can for any retalitory.  The goal with the carrier is hopefully you can sack a Japan fighter or get lucky with a BB with some rolls…plus this can leave other Japan trans vulnerable, so ensure your American and Brit bombers get positioned in Alaska/Hawaii and Caucus respectively on the first turn so you can possibly hit those trans.  If you can keep Japan troops off Asia, you’ve done your job.

I have been glancing through the boards looking for a good article on KJF (Kill Japan First) in 42, without finding that golden recipe.

As I see it it is possible to perform an opening something like this:

      R1
      Buy 3 inf 3 arm
      hit WR maybe Ukraine
      2 inf to sinkiang
      Stack Bury with 6 inf
      Place 3 armor in Cauc

      UK1
      IC in India
      Kill Jap Transp with carrier
Consider hitting FIC instead of Egypt (If FIC attack fails badly IC could be placed in SA)
Get some air to cauc to clear the med and help in asia

      US1
Well depends on results - Pacific navy builds
      Sinkiang IC

The goal is to push Japan of the mainland and for US navy to land in east indies+Borneo and setup ICs and pin the Japan navy.
Doing this, while the russian front holds against Germany, means that the Allies will be cruising towards IPC dominance and an easy win.

I realize that this is not an optimal strategy - the counter is simply for Germany to push hard towards Moscow and quickly USSR will be in big trouble. But sometimes it is just fun to try some other variations to a standard KGF stalemate.

Does any of the more experienced players have better tactics for implementing a KJF strategy?
