      I agree, defender should be able to retreat, but in this way the retreat option, instead of be a desperate decision to save the army, becomes an opportunity for the defender that can attract the attacker in a trap. This could be a good tactic, in North Africa Rommel was a master of this, but A&A is more strategic than tactic. So, i think, this opportunity could be “limited”.

      My idea for this is: defender can declare retreat after at least one cycle of combat. If defender declare retreat, attacker only roll for another cycle of combat and the defender remove all casualties immediately and then the combat is over, defender can’t roll for her/his units (they’re retreting). The attacker wins the combat and the defender have to move all her/his units in the SAME space. No units rest “behind”. This rule also can be applied to naval combats, because ships usually make smoke clouds to hide their retreat.

      Defending submarines have still the advantage of fire back and submerge. If an enemy destroyer is there, sub’s can now retreat instead of submerging.

      I like this rule!!! ;)

      EDIT: i forgot… AntiAircraft and (of course) Industrial Complexes CAN’T retreat.

      @Mr:

      If you want to play “vanilla” then by all means do so.  As for me, I like a little Rocky Road sometimes!

      Making Rocky Road out of vanilla ice cream means you have to buy chocolate ice cream and marshmellows too, when you could just buy a brand of Rocky Road ice cream.

      That assumes someone around you is selling Rocky Road though.  (Besides, I like pee–-kans in my ice cream.)

      Anyway, I’d love to see an option for defender retreat.  I’ll start a thread!

      Okay, let’s say for even the slightest moment, you’re correct and he should have run for office. This is to run for office in a nation which had a very serious civil rights problem. with black and white drinking fountains… hangings for looking at white women… threatened voting rights… having to give up a bus seat…

      Yeah, sure… he’ll win. :roll:

      Tell you what, Jen. Go and publicly speak your feelings at a local pub or a mall or write a column in a well read publication. See how many people share your feelings about MLK. Ask your congressman to make a statement saying, “We made a mistake giving MLK a day of rememberance.” Tell your black friends… (if you have any black friends  :lol: :lol: :lol:)… what you told me. See first hand how he or she will react.

      If you feel sooo strong about it… DO SOMETHING ABOUT. I would love to see it.

      @U-505:

      @newpaintbrush:

      @U-505:

      Well, Switch, the reason the Commander wants to play Low Luck is that she wants a narrower baseline with which to judge the viability of the strategy. Low Luck gives her that. If the majority of the results fall within the limits LL provides or the Allies win decisively, then it becomes a viable strategy. If the Axis can win most of the games decisively in LL, then it requires favorable dice in ADS and should be abandoned. What’s the point of playing 10 games of ADS when you can play 5 games of LL and get the same general idea about the strategy?

      You can hate LL for whatever reasons, but all you’re doing is limiting yourself. All LL does is eliminate wild dice swings. This game is primarily about outmanouvering your opponent and it is required just as much in LL as in ADS. ADS just provides more variability which is why I prefer it to LL, but I still enjoy my LL games just as much and if I lose, I will have a harder time complaining that I was screwed by the dice.

      If you have the MOST COMMON RESULT happening 5% of the time, and ninety-five variants happening 1% of the time, then it logically follows that you should expect to see the MOST COMMON RESULT every time.

      Never mind that something else happens 95% of the time.

      All I’m saying is that you are limiting yourself. You don’t have to justify your dislike for LL to me.

      My bad.  :wink:

      Well, according to a letter that was written by Thomas Jefferson by a court eons later there’s separation of Church and State.

      According to the US Constitution there is no such statement.  Just restrictions placed on the state to prevent them from affecting the churches.

      Yea, I like the bugged version of TripleA for that.  you Bomb it then take it, you pay the money. :)

      But to be honest, it really should be up to the defender to decide if they want to repair it or not.  And if it is damaged and not repaired, you cannot damage it further.

      A high courts justices, annoyed with lower court judges who issue problematic rulings, have decided to send one of them back to law school.

      In an order issued late Friday, Judge R K Towari was told to return for a three-month refresher course after issuing an arrest warrant in defiance of a previous higher courts ruling.

      “Since Tiwari does not have even elementary knowledge of the criminal law and procedure it would be appropriate that he undergoes a refresher course.” Justice V. B. Gupta wrote.

      The move comes after a series of high profile cases that have been overturned by a higher court or the national Supreme Court, citing lack of legal understanding by lower court judges.

      –-Associated Press, sorry no reporter’s name is listed.

      Gee, judges passing law school AND understanding the legal code!  What is this, a Russian Gulag!  We can’t make them do that! hehe.

      Sorry, I just thought it was hilarious that the higher courts were getting fed up with idiot rulings and having to correct all these bad rulings in appeals.

      Not many people go the KJF route, so I’ve defended against 3 or 4 games of KJF.  I’ve engaged in half a dozen to a dozen games of KJF in the year I have played Revised.  Probably closest to about 8 games +/- 1 or 2.

      Total (defense + offense) about 12 games.

      Of which, I’ve seen Axis win once.  By win, I mean Russia falls with sufficient time for Germany to kick the Allies out of Asia before Japan falls.  Japan falling, to me, means that they are land locked to the Japan territory with no significant fleets or land based forces. (1 infantry dude in Evenki holding down the fort is NOT significant.  21 Infantry, 8 Armor, 2 Fighters holding down the fort in Evenki is significant.  To put some perspective on it.)

      Woot, go CC!

      I think it’s more a matter of chosing your industries and your companies right now, not just blindly investing in tech sector like it was in the 90s.  That means people have to work to make their money grow and they are not choosing to do the work.  Thus their money is shrinking and thus they are claiming it’s an aweful bear market!

      I know I’ve taken a wash on a few stocks because I screwed up on my homework.  But it was not the market’s fault, it was my fault for believing the wrong set of data.  I’ve also made a killing on some WAG stocks (Wild Assed Guesses).

      I’ve seen fast carriers help in 2 specific situations:

      1)  Japan forgets that the Pearl Harbor Carrier and fighters can get to SZ 61 resulting in the loss of all of Japan’s unprotected transports.
      2)  America builds one last carrier and two fighters for that assault on SZ 60 (SZ 55 to SZ 60 is 3 spaces.) Or even just buys two fast carriers so the 4 fighters in W. Canada can reach SZ 60.

      But how often does that happen?

      How much better off would naval warfare in the Pacific be if America had 3 fighters on the flight deck of a carrier, or could recover a bomber on an empty carrier?

      @Cmdr:

      This semester, I’ve stood at the head of my core math course (College Algebra, ick!) and wondered how any of my students can learn anything in such an extensively large classroom?  How can I ensure that I am recovering material that needs to be recovered and move past material that most of the student body understands?  My core math course is so large it feels like I’m standing in the field of Wrigley Field.

      Well, this is a problem a lot of educators face.  Obviously, it is best to keep the class interesting.

      I recommend nudity, like Russian weathergirls.

      Jet Fighters neutralize the allied annoying tactic of putting AA Guns all over the place because your fighters are immune.

      And I meant 10 IPC for Russia.  6 from the rocket attack on Moscow and 4 from the rocket attack on Caucasus. (Remember you can only fire one rocket to each industrial complex per turn.)  Add in a bomber to get the two point conversion on Russia for 12 though. WEG

      Yea, heavy bombers have been completely castrated.  I wouldnt turn them down if they were free, but I wouldnt pay for them either.
