      The bomber in W. USA would be deterred by the 4 Fighters, 2 Carriers sitting in SZ 62 defending the transports.  What else are you going to use those two carriers that start in SZ 57 for anyway?  You don’t want to bring them into SZ 56 or 53!

      normally i move the2 carriers to seazone 51 for setting up a round 2 attack on australia or hawai or even the phillipine islands if i didn’t get it in round 1. But i can see your point, and i think that i will consider moving 1 carrier with fighters to seazone 62.

      I prefer to send 1 fighter from the carrier group in 57 against the US transporter + destroyer in 56.

      then i send the remaining 3 fighters from 57 against the USbattleship in 53 supplemented with 1 more fighter from 61 and the destroyer from 51.

      if my i’m in the mood i put one more fighter on 56 from the 53 attack

      In noncombatmove i move the 2 carriers from 57 to 51 and land the remaining fighters on teh 2 carriers there. and if the 5th fighter survives, then one gets to land on one of the japanese islands

      if japan build a fighter and a transporter in J1, then rembember that the US bomber i western US can reach unprotected transporters in the japan seazone and land in buryatia s.s.r. with the defence of potentially 7 russian inf. should japan then choose to try and smash the 7 inf + the bomber i would really screw up their “masterplan” for J2 as india/australie would become more difficult etc.

      @Capt.:

      I have yet to see a dominating performance from US against Japan.  And Germany and Italy need more attention than just England and Russia.  But it all comes down to The Bear.  Russia won World War II.  In actuality, they lost the most, but they won.  Why do you suppose the US used Atomics?  For me, balance has to do with the strategist, and winning always comes down to the big battles.

      I definetly agree that it can be quite difficult to make some real damage with the us in the typical games with no all-1’s throws. Last game I played Japan lost 6 fighters in the first round… talk about setting getting your leg sawn off i round 1. after that dreadfull start japan never fully recovered and struggled with many of its 2nd round “sure” victories and it all went sour from then on.

      Or if Russia moves some Infantry into India on R2.  Russia will get a good return on that with a group of British Tanks able to hold the Japanese at bay and support the Caucasus.

      I’m not saying it couldn’t work, but it is a tough nut for the UK to crack in the first place, and this takes ressources away from the landing in germany, which gives the germans even more manouvre room to attack russia, and if russia is also to provide units to the chinieese defence, then the russians can very quickly find theselves in a mesh they can’t get out of in the run into just below-par dices. I would probably hate being the russian player in that strategy if the germans are having some good first round battles with low casulties

Aside from that i would think that the only real option for a UK factory in an average game is South Africa and that would depend on whether egypt survives and how many units germany is left with there if it gets the territory

      @ bronstein, i like your initial plan and idea. Especially with Bardoly’s thoughts of buying two bombers which i would also consider myself. However, have any of you considered the ramifications for italy if you follow Bardoly’s plan a let the UK cruiser + destroyer survive. then the UK will have 1 cruiser, 1 destroyer + 1 bomber to hit the italien fleet with. I know the chances aren’t that great, but I don’t think that it is unlikely that the UK player would do it for the chance to prevent italian assistance for caucasus and secondly if the were to manage to kill the italian fleet, then the allies are in a really good position for the remaider of the game. Especially since france would be easy to take and provide the allies with a heavy bonus of 21 (UK 11 with the NO + 6 from france. US 5 from NO).

      If italy fleet survives the UK turn and then build the 1 transporter + 1 inf, then it can become difficult to build up a proper shield against future allied attacks on that account since neither germany and italy have build much fodder for the atlantic shores. Finally there is not much supplementary forces that can be send in to support the caucasus attackforces if the first try fails or is recaptured. Finally there is of course also the down luck that you don’t get egypt in the first place.

      this is not meant as critique of you bronstein, but more as me highlighting what is percieve as obstackels to overcome to make the “fast caucasus kill” a good approach in my eyes.

      i’m sorry uffishbongo, but given my gameplay experiences you seem to be playing a very different way than me and my friends do, if they (the ones playing japan) allow you to have a transporter near india that you are able to use for taking back egypt. Maybe i’m just missing something here, but if I am, then please explain why japan would let the indian transport and destroyer live?

      buy it. especially if you live in the us, because then you are just simply spoiled if you think the game is expensive ;) i live in Denmark and here the standard price in shops is 145 USD in todays currency. In any case the game is limited edition and not many of the left outthere any more, so be quick a buy the game, play it and if you don’t like or don’t think it is worth the money you can probably sell it after some time to the same price og higher because fo the limited edition :D

      Is it allowed to send 7 fighters after a target if only 6 of the can land on a carrier even if it is highly likely that some of the fighters will die?

      I played tonight against japan who wanted to attack the us nawy with 7 fighters and land the 6 of them on the 3 carriers and then “forfit” the 1 remaining fighter should it be so “lucky” to survive.

    • Need a turn actions chart

      Some time ago a saw a pdf file one could download and print so one could record one’s moves etc. I didn’t downloaded it when i found it, but this night i needed it, but didn’t have it. So now after alot of searching (dont know what to search for :( ) i hope that one of you could post a link with the type of file that i need.

      edit: wanted to add info to increase the chance that someone knows what i’m looking for.

      you’we probably all tried playing a game, and the it’s suddenly late and you have to break up, but there is no clear winnner and you don’t wanna call it a draw becasue you’re convinced that you can win. so you descide to write down the positions of units, cash, research etc, so you can continue… its the pdf file for this situation that i need.

      the pdf file had an overview of all the seazones and landzones in one side and on the other side a list of all the avaliable unit types creating a matrix overview of the total of units. The principle behind it is the same a the sheets chess players use to record every move of the game as far as i know.

      i also picked up a europe game a few weeks ago and experienced the excact same. Fortunately i got an AA50 game i could borrow from. Just saw the post, so now i’m waiting for a reply and hoping for some pieces :)

      It looks cool. I especially like the little flags, as it reminds me of old war movies where you see all the generals around a big war map mobing stuff around while smoking cigars and drinking brandy while settling the buisness of war :)

      is there any chance that you have a pdf or high resolution vector based picture of it you wanna share? i could be nice to have a map like your in the format as the one you can se here: http://www.aaclubdk.dk/Gameboard.htm

      so just to be clear for my next game when i hopefully get rockets again, since this clarification could quite heavily affect the amounts of AA guns i would buy… max 2 (vs germany + italy) vs alot :D

      if I have e.g. UK and get rockets, i can shot at the german IC from both norway, London, finland etc as long as there are no more than 3 spaces between the attacking rocket’s placement and the target. And of course only 1 AA gun firering from any country.
