If it’s a 1 vs 1, we can usually just decide between the two of us. For a 5 player game, I’ll mix up the cards with the country unit setup on it, turn them face down, and everyone picks one.

RE: What's the casualty zone for.
I’m pretty sure that you’re suppose to use defending units that were killed in the attack’s roll behind it so that you’ll both recognize that they’re dead, but you’ll remember to fire back with them.

RE: How to counter strategic bomb?
To add to that, even while repairing you factory to working order, you should be ahead of Britain economically if he’s buying TWO bombers… you should be able to take Britain easily. And if you just build out of the Southern Europe factory, you’re economy will be FAR advanced. Britain will either have to abandon the bombing strategy or be conquered.

RE: USSR
Russia does NOT have the IPCs to spare to throw down an IC IMHO. And even if they did, where would you put it? Most of their countries only collect 1 or 2 IPCs….

RE: Britain Strategies
If Britain is being attacked that heavily, then Germany isn’t putting the pressure on Russia that they should, and Russia will start eating their Eastern countries alive. I don’t see KBF as an effective strategy for the Axis, and I rarely see it.

RE: Best route through asia
Good point. Allow me to elaborate on this.
I’ll usually take over China on J1 to make sure that America doesn’t build an IC on Sinkiang, but I don’t use that as my route through Asia. I just hold China, and use the Russian or Indian route to move through Asia.

RE: Alternate Country Combos
It annoys me when people mess around with the way the game is suppose to be played. So, it’s my thought that you shouldn’t be trying to get him to play with alternate country combinations.
But seriously though. He’s your brother. We really don’t know how you’re going to convince him to do what you want to do.

RE: What's your favorite country and why?
Japan. You have tons of options to attack the Allies. And late in the game, after you’ve taken British and Russian holdings, you’re an economic powerhouse and can wipe the floor with the Allies.

RE: Best route through asia
This is a decent question. I voted “other”. Now let me give you my thoughts on the matter.
I don’t think that China is the best way through Asia unless the Allies have left it undefended. The north-eastern Russian border is a much easier way through, and allows Japan to take some easy IPCs away from Russia. Likewise, India gives you the option of attacking the Caucuses, or moving into Africa. The China route doesn’t allow this versatility.
That may seem like an overly simple analysis, so if you’d like me to elaborate on my reasoning, let me know.

RE: Should i play with or without factories ?
Yeah… I pretty much think that Industrial Complexes are good the way they are. If they were cheaper, they would be overpowered. 15 IPCs is a fair price. If they were cheaper, say 5 IPCs, Japan could build three factories on their mainland and pump out nine units on Russia’s tail per turn.
-
RE: Fortress Europe Axis Strategy
Hmmm. I like this strategy, but I also have a few questions of my own.
What is your recommended J1 buy for this strategy? Are you placing Industrial Complexes on the mainland with them? If so, where?
Also, what turn do you imagine Russia falling on?

RE: German Bombing Strategy
Hmmm. But what if Russia was having to spend all its money rebuilding it’s bombed ICs? That would put the Russian player at a huge disadvantage, as they really don’t have the money to waste. Three bombers attacks per round is anywhere from 3-18 damage on Russia’s factories per turn! (2-12 if a bomber happens to be shot). With this pressure being taken off the Eastern front, it would give Germany quite a bit of breathing room, and possibly set the stage for a German invasion of Moscow, taking some of the pressure off of Japan to strike into Moscow, and allowing them to focus on other fronts (Africa… or distracting the U.S.A player in the Pacific)

RE: Any thing from stratagies to house rules and to just chatting on how ya play..
If I’m playing a game as Japan, I generally go for a mainland based strategy… my first round purchases consist of 2 transports (14 IPCs) a and a mixing of ground forces, depending on what the Allies are doing.
My first round attacks generally consist of an attack on India, China, and the closest Russian territory (Can’t remember the name right now, my board isn’t in front of me). Round 2, I buy an IC on India and use the location to hit Russia’s belly, while using my transports to move troops from Japan into Russia from the north. If you mix this with pressure on the German front, Russia doesn’t have much of a chance.

RE: Question on combat move! help!
O_o It would make things terribly time-consuming if you were only allowed one combat per turn.

RE: Axis & Allies 1942 Game Board Size
@Imperious:
They are supposed to be similar to OOB. The AA42 map is a joke. Ants could not play on it.
Jaycawbz, are you an ant? Or a termite since they are smaller. I don’t understand? How could you be playing on the AA42 board just fine when ants can’t play on it?
Oh daggum. I just realized that I AM an ant. This makes things quite complicated….
Seriously though… if you’re careful and keep track of your units, this game is definitely playable…

RE: Axis & Allies 1942 Game Board Size
The size doesn’t bother me that much, for some reason… me and my friends make due with it. I do plan on buying 1940 Pacific soon, and then 1940 Europe when it comes out. That shall be a truly epic game.

Britain Strategies
Hey guys! It’s me again! (Sorry if I’m getting on your nerves with all my questions.)
I’m getting ready for a game of Axis and Allies later this week, and I was considering switching things up a bit and playing a game with Britain. Right now, I’m trying to get my strategies lined up.
So, first of all, what would your general first and second round purchases with Britain? Do you focus on your navy so that you can clear the waters of German ships? Or do you build up an assault force to hammer the German mainland as soon as possible? Or do you build a navy to secure the Russian waters, and then shuffle support through to Russia? There are so many different possibilities… I’m not really sure how to aim my strategy.
My second question: Are the outlying British countries doomed to death? India is such a fantastic foothold in Japan, and a potential thorn in Japan’s march through Russia. Is there any way for Britain to save India?
And what of Australia? Can it serve a purpose in Britain’s campaign?
Finally, what does Britain need to do to help prevent Russia’s fall? This springs off my earlier questions, I suppose. Do you harass Japan from an Indian IC? Do you funnel support in through Norway or India? Or do you apply the pressure to Germany and use offense in order to save Russia’s defense?
I would greatly appreciate your opinions on all of this. I’m excited for my game, and hoping that I can play a good Britain.
Thanks for all of the great answers in advance!

RE: Japan!!
I do find myself disagreeing with your choice of building a destroyer. Generally, you start off with enough navy in the Pacific to sustain you. A destroyer purchase seems like a waste of money that you could use to build up your assault force going onto the mainland.
Without the DD Japan won’t be able to do anything about the UK & US subs (usually the US should submerge it instead of losing it on a helpless battle) and the only units can properly defend against them are the battleships.
Ohhhh. That’s an excellent point there. Still, is it necessary as a first round purchase? If the U.S. doesn’t go for a naval assault against Japan, wouldn’t the DD be useless?
And Dylan, thank you for trying to help me. I appreciate it. ^^
