    • RE: Any Massachusetts players?

      @Logistical:

      I’m looking to put together a group. I could host, in tewksbury ma. I hate commuting so I would rather host than drive to western mass or something. I have 1942 2ND edition but I’ve played almost all the versions and am open to other editions.

      I just sent you a PM. I’m in Lowell and could meet you in Tewksbury easily. I have all AA Global and all the previous versions as well. I have sent an email out to a group I have played with locally to see who has time in the near future.

    • RE: Can host in Boston area

      Alex, I saw this today. I also saw that emptysuit responded to you via email and copied me. I am travelling for work right now, but I should be back in town the end of this week and we can figure out a time to get together.

      We now have four in our group. Three members off this forum and one off of the Larry Harris forum. If anybody else has interest in joining us, please PM me.

      Our next planned Global 1940 get together is November 9th.

      Okay, I just got another forum member contacting me. There are three of us plus the newest member has a group going. We also look likely to be adding another regular player shortly.

      The more the merrier, anybody else game for meeting up in the Boston area?

    • Can host in Boston area

      Have Global 1940 as well as just about all variants. Currently playing Global with one other forum member from Boston area regularly. Can host games, have large (72"x36") table to play Global.

      Hit me up via PM if you want to join us, we’d like to get up to four or five if we can. I can also travel in the greater Boston area to meet up elsewhere.

    • RE: HBG's Japanese Sets

      @Variable:

      Well crew, your opinions have been heard. Coach and I spoke today on the carrier subject. We are shelving the Shinano for now, but expect to see it back some day… :wink:

      In it’s place, our plan is to go back to plan A, a regular fleet carrier sized Unryu. I’m working to convince him that the Shokaku/Zuikaku need to be included as the fleet carrier in set 3, The Basic Set. How does that grab everybody? Give us your feedback.

      This sounds great! I’m definitely on board with the Unryu and Shokaku/Zuikaku. May I also recommend a Ryuho being added to one of the sets at some point? Sort of an IJN equivalent of the Casablanca in the US/Neutral set.

      BTW, I’ve got the three of them (Unryu, Shokaku and Zuikaku) in 1/700 scale plastic kit form if you need any measurements or scaling info for your CAD work or sculpts. I also have the Ryuho if your so inclined.

    • RE: Greater Boston: Trying to put together a local group

      @Gargantua:

      Larry Harris lives in Boston…

      GO FOR IT!

      Actually I got together with forum member emptysuit on this past Saturday for Europe 40 and will be getting together tomorrow with forum member mozkaynak for my first crack at 1914. Still looking for more folks though.

      Besides, I’m pretty sure Larry Harris has better things to do with his weekend than waste his time schooling me at a game he created when I was a little kid. But maybe that’s just me. :)

    • Greater Boston: Trying to put together a local group

      Looking for folks in the greater Boston and Southern NH area for meeting up and playing. A local game store has space available for games or we could figure something else out. I could host one or two players at my house (have a big 6’ x 4’ table to play on) but much more than that we’d need more space. I have just about all the different AA variants (except for the 50 Anniversary edition). Also have the original Fortress America and Conquest of the Empire from the Gamemaster series if there was interest in playing those as well.

      Post here or send me a PM.

      Jason

      @variance:

      Alright JWW we will take Western Mass too, including everything West of I95.  We get the West bound lanes of I90 and the South bound lanes of I95.  We will also take Boston, but only if you take the island of Montreal.

      Yes!! I’m 20 miles west of I95.

      For the love of god, as a resident of Massachusetts, let me implore you to leave Boston. I understand the whole Montreal thing, but it isn’t worth it, trust me. Canada should just kick Montreal and Quebec out and let them form their own country like they’ve been screaming about for the last 40 years……

      RB - LeSean McCoy, Doug Martin, Ryan Williams

      K - Nate Kaeding, Stephen Gostowski

    • RE: Field Marshal Games Germany pieces

      Okay. The only reason I ask is their last email I received about three months ago said they were due in any time.

      I’ve only done business with them this one time so just wanted to make sure.

      Thanks for the reassurance.

    • Field Marshal Games Germany pieces

      Has anybody received the German set from FMG? I pre-ordered a set of these and the Italians almost seven months ago. Received the Italians over five months ago but have not received the German set yet. I sent a couple of emails over the last few months, the last of which has not been answered.

      Just curious if anybody has them or if there has been a production mishap or they were cancelled etc.

    • RE: Bad news

      I know this doesn’t take away from or excuse WOTC from the travesty they’re committing, but here is my fix. Keep in mind, this is simply food for thought.

      As with the Japanese tac bombers in AAP1940 where I used 1/700 model aircraft for aircraft carriers to supplement them, I have supplemented Italian forces already by using GHQ 1/285 metal miniatures for the Italian tanks and Airfix 1/72 Italian infantry for the infantry. A set of 5 tanks is $10 and the Airfix box of 45-50 infantry is like $7. The big let down is the naval units. I don’t have a great fix there. What I wouldn’t give for an actual Italian Roma/Vittorio Veneto/Littorio class battleship and any of a number of the very nice and graceful looking Italian heavy or light cruisers and destroyers. I’ve been using the ANZAC naval units from AAP1940 as the Italian naval units in my cobbled together version of the Anniversary edition. A nice Macchi MC-202/205 would be nice for the fighter and a nice SM-79 for a bomber. The Regia Aeronautica didn’t really have a very good tac bomber type, but the Breda 65 would get my vote there.

      As a side note, GHQ also makes a nice set of Bren gun carriers/Universal Carriers which I use to replace the half tracks for the Brit and ANZAC forces in AAP1940 for a slightly more authentic mech infantry.

    • Looking for A&A players in the eastern MA/Boston area

      A former fellow soldier and buddy who is my usual opponent has been deployed to Afghanistan with his unit. I really don’t want to take a trip to Afghanistan just to play A&A. His departure leaves me with a bunch of games and nobody to play against. Looking for anybody interested in having A&A face to face games in the eastern MA/metro Boston area. I live about 30 miles outside of Boston and am able to travel within a reasonable distance. I have all the A&A games except the Anniversary (AA50) edition. I also have a few of the Xeno A&A variations as well as Diplomacy and several other strategy type board games. PM me or post here and we’ll discuss details. Thanks much.
