Without them making a new one wider and no other Co that makes it best bet for now is painting the classic sub to your countries color

Maybe I will never grow up make some for us in the near future ?

      We’ve actually already started producing them. Currently we have the Japanese Type C3 I52, German Type U-41 and the French Surcouf Cruiser Sub. A few more coming in the next week or two;

      Italian Foca
      German Type IX
      French Redoubtable
      US Gato
      US Balao

** Edit: Whether or not any of our models are a solution to the issues above, I can’t say. The only model I’ve ever experienced issue with is the OOB German subs being too thin starting with AA50th.

    • Naval Task Force and Ground Battalion Markers Available Now!

The original 2001 Axis and Allies Pacific game contained pieces they named “task force markers”, consisting of six numbered plastic roundel holders and six corresponding numbered printed cards. Their purpose was to allow a whole group of ships to be represented on the game map by a single marker (with a roundel holder to denote the controlling player power), convenient for situations where a lot of ships need to be crammed in to a tight space.

I Will Never Grow Up Games has released our own version of the Task Force Marker PLUS a Battalion Marker!

      ca$5.95 per set.

      Each Task Force Marker or Battalion Marker set includes;

      • 6 Large Task Force or Battalion Markers with Roundel holder (numbered 1-6) (32 mm x 39 mm)
      • 6 “Mini” Task Force or Battalion Markers for super tight territories (numbered 1-6) (32 mm x 18 mm)
      • 6 Task Force Cards (numbered 1-6) (64 mm x 89 mm)

EDIT: NVM, just looked up your other post. 12mm scale is approximately 1:144 yes? If so, I can certainly do these in that scale.

Just a quick update, the accompanying cards have been printed and are on their way to me.
I’ve also decided I’ll include half size markers (with no slot for the roundels) to accompany the sets for those even smaller territories.

Could we get a slightly scaled up version of the carrier? Like 10-15%.
Need a sculpt for Super/Heavy (3 plane) Carrier.

How about a sculpt to use for RADAR AAA?

Upscaled versions of any of our existing models I can certainly do.

Radar AAA, I can attempt, but don’t hold your breath (any new model takes a significant bit of time to create and test before we can print it).

@aardvarkpepper said in 3D Printed Axis and Allies Board Game Pieces Available:

I’m curious about how the models take to hobby files, pin vice and drill, and mechanical drill bits. Also be nice to see some painted models along with mention of how the models were painted.

The last because if you’re doing brushes, sometimes brushwork fills in details of the model with paint, especially if you’re going for multiple coats. So if you’re painting on wee complex flags that could be tricky.

I’ve used files and drill bits on other 3D printed models I’ve done without issues, but not these (though they are in the same plastic material so it would work just as well). I have not (yet) painted any of the 3d printed AAA models myself (just my 32mm scale D&D models).

Multiple coats of paint on models this size are doable, but you absolutely need to ensure you’ve thinned your paints properly (water doesn’t cut it in my opinion … you need a ‘medium’ (I use liquitex matte medium myself) to maintain the pigment count). I’ve rarely had issues with fine details being filled in by painting on these kinds of pieces.

Painting fine details is tough, but doable if you’ve got the patience, steady hand, good eyes/magnification and a fine enough brush.

Hopefully someone has painted some and can put up a pic for us!

Yes. Air units can attack Naval units (except for Submarines unless the air unit(s) are accompanied by a destroyer), and so they automatically sink undefended transports.

    • RE: Naval Task Force + Ground Batallion Markers - Any interest?

I’ve done some further modifying and reduced the markers down to 32 mm x 32 mm (about 1 1/4 inches square). Anything smaller and it wouldn’t work, but I have a feeling this size could work for most territories, as I imagine there will always be some that are just too small, no matter what, on an OOB game board.

For reference the original task force markers are about 36x48mm (about 1 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches rectangular).

IF there is interest in this, I’m thinking ca$6.00 per set of 6 (approx us$4.65 right now) but that is not set in stone (could be more, could be less, largely depending on the quantities and the cost of getting the proper cards made).

    • RE: Naval Task Force + Ground Batallion Markers - Any interest?

Hey, yeah, I know about the separate piece for assembling the units (I was going through my spare bits last week which led me to the original markers).

My current solution is a numbered token to match the marker that you place with the units grouping but I’m working on an affordable card solution. Would not be reasonable if there is no interest though.

The ground unit markers are smaller than the naval markers by about 40% (also the Naval markers are smaller than the original already). It may need some reworking still but it’s a thought.
