      lol, I came online to warn you about the fleet off Java but you posted Italy at the same time I logged on…

      Do you sacrifice this little fleet intentionally?
      If not, you should redo Japanese turn. USA turn will look different if you change something, so I don’t think an edit to correct the situation will work this time.

      I’ll do my ANZAC  + French turn, but feel free to redo Japan after that (just reload the last Russian save). OR continue from my French turn. Whatever suits you.

      It is no big deal because I was able to have Japan cornered in the Pacific myself anyway ;-).
      Then again, that move interrupted the supply of 3 land units per turn in a critical area where 3 units more or less could mean the collapse or survival for Japan.

      If a mistake is easy enough to repair with a simple edit I’ll notify on beforehand. If it is not that simple, I’ll allow a rollback (and ask if you want one) anytime.

      The time is indeed not right for an American offensive now. Tactical retreat to consolidate. MacArthur says he’ll be back!

      You did slow down my attack on India for a few turns. I decided it was best to scare off the American fleet, keeping them away from the money islands. I need the Japanese economy to stay in the 60+ range.

      Like I told you ;-).
      Previous game I think I made some tactical mistakes with Japan (other than loosing that IC, which I feel you should have warned me about), but no strategical ones. Then again, the game is still young and in our previous game Japan has been at ~60 untill J5 as well. We will have to see what happens.

      Indeed the German economy is! Nothing fancy the allies can do (or could have done) about that.
      Fighting for Leningrad means loosing Moscow way too soon. The way A&A is balanced -if we can even speak of balance- ensures at least 6 turns of unopposed axis expansion in Europe that the allies can not do anything about. Not even if the USA went 100% for Europe for 6 complete turns without being punished by Japan.

      A lot of excellent posts so far.
      I have nothing to add. Except perhaps, that whatever the USA does, it must make sure to increase its economy. 72IPCs per turn seems like much, but it isn’t in the late game. I’d say the USA desperately needs >80IPCs per turn in the late game…
      As others have pointed out already, the USA needs an early focus in one area with the aim to increase their economy as said, at the cost of the axis power that is picked on. They need that economic increase in order to be able to maintain their established parity/superiority against the axis picked on early and at the same time, opening a second front on the other map.

      Only one other thing must be said: Carthago delenda est!
      If you don’t know what that means, google it. It is used in one of my playgroups to poke fun of our strategic rantings ;-).

      And again. I wonder if there’s something wrong or if it is just false alarm.

      Anyway. I’m sorry for the messy UK in Africa. This very offensive playstyle is new to me and I am also not very experienced in playing with bids. But your play with the UK inspired me to try the agressive approach myself as well. I won’t win a beauty contest this time but one more game as the UK and I’ll know the drill. Without a bid however, I doubt it can be done without suffering too much in another theatre.

      I can see that it can work great, wonders even, but I also see that only a little mistake (such as for example not taking Ethiopia, or allowing that attack to fail) can be a game-loosing backfire. My positioning of everything back into Egypt was also not right, but I thought it didn’t really matter where I put my stuff now since we agreed on no attack on it for one more turn. So on second thought the attack on Libya was not a bad thing to do after all :lol:.

      No matter how exactly the problem is solved tactically, the most important thing of the strategy is to put an IC into Egypt asap. Maybe 1 turn later but definately no later than that. In theory, this should give the UK 18-27 extra units to defend with once Germany arrives but hopefully they can also mean something for the defense of Russia… We’ll see. Thanks for the good sportsmanship!

      The attack on Libya was undone. I miscounted the range for the RAF. I thought I could attack and base them all in Egypt, but that was not the case, so: long live the edit function!

      If Japan wants to protect their TRSs, they will be spread. The IJN goes where the transports go (Sumatra, Malaya, Celebes).
      In other words: if japan wants to develop some sort of income, they cannot keep the IJN at FIC. But maybe they can leave just enough ships off FIC to do it, IDK. Allies do however have a few planes nearby as well, so spreading the IJN should be done with great care.

      Please help me out a little while I do the rest of the allies… My eyes are tired and the screen is not so clear anymore. I may have seen it correct the first time after all.

      As far as I can see the Japanese have ~10% chance to kill the USN @ Carolines. That is totally acceptable to me but I may have missed a plane somewhere… I think Japan can only get there with 2DD, 3FTR, 3TAC and 2STR. Max. But like I said my eyes are tired (cry).
      Don’t forget the ANZAC CA that will also be present before Japan can attack.

      Thanx. And yes, 50-60 for Japan is indeed not bad!

      PS. I knew you couldn’t get Java, because I studied on that ;-).
