I wouldn’t call it easier, if China starts with double their forces everywhere.
I’d think Japan would actually have a reason not to J1. Since A&A is a game and not a simulation, I wouldn’t want to make taking China as hard as it historically was. My point for additional China rules/set up in a game like A&A would only be to draw in more power from the Japanese, so they have less to use against the Wallies. If need be, China could even get more units at start up… -

If you mean by ‘unreasonable demands’, that the USA demanded Japan to stop its war in China then I can’t say the USA and the Brits had any choice but to demand that. The Japanese waged such a cruel and barbaric war in China, that I am wondering why the USA hadn’t declared war on Japan first.
Just Google ‘rape of Nanking’ and you get a picture of what the Chinese had to endure. This massacre alone still causes tension between China and Japan…Eventually the USA was so fed up by the Japanese cruel bararism in China, that they stopped supplying oil and other strategic materials to Japan, and, indeed, started supplying war materials to the Chinese. Deprived of oil, Japan could not wage an effective war so Japan had to attack the DEI oil fields, an act the western allies would never let go unpunished. This would (very likely) mean War and Japan knew it, so they attacked first, at Pearl Harbor.
Back to the Japanese war in China. It wasn’t exactly going well for Japan (sluggish), so maybe they butchered the people in occupied China out of frustration? Who knows.
The fact is that A&A gives the impression that the war in China is very easily won. In reality however, Japan had very limited resources (manpower and oil in particular) and it had to make choices of what to do with it. Wage an effective war against the western allies OR China. Even with the DEI oil.If you want to translate the war in China into A&AG40 (taking the Japanese set up as startingpoint), I think China has to start with at least double all their forces at set up and limit their production to 2 units per turn (or 1 ART if they own Yunnan) regardless of how many IPCs they own. The IPC value of their areas would only be of use for Japan. Furthermore, the chinese INF units should attack @½, or @1 if paired with an ART. Their defensive values remain normal. All the other OOB rules would still apply for China. This would roughly simulate The choice Japan had to make in the real war.

I hope you can see what I did with the edits.
If not, here it is: instead of 2TAC + 1 INF, I placed FTR+TAC+MECH. Same TUV. And repositioned 2 other mech after that (within their legal range, ofc).OK, if it’s after fall of Mocow, I can relate. That should be after a while. First Germany must work on its ability to approach Moscow and if the UK sends a few FTR/TAC into that City, they can hold out longer. We’ll see how it works out.
If you are thinking about a ‘battle of the Java sea’, please take great care with allocating losses.
I must admit I used the BC on it but I didn’t take into account the dynamics of taking air and CV losses. Just looked at the statistics. I’m growing weary of the BC after a while… So if the combat is in fact much more disadvantageous for Japan I might reconsider this move. A heck, damn F’n BC… I 'll look into it ;-). I 'll simulate the battle in the BC but this time exactly how it is going to be. Should have done that by tomorrow and since you’re away this weekend, I figure that is not much time lost anyway.Speaking of which: Njoy the weekend!

Just so it’s clear:
I’m not dismissing DS as a valid strategy. I just don’t see that it’s so much better than the other strategies.
I have spent 240IPCs now on bombers. Imagine I spent that all on land units. That would be ~70 land units instead of the +13 bombers the Germans have now. Say I put 30 of them In Russia to compensate the offensive power of those bombers, and another 10 because Russia is not raided so heavily (or not at all, even). The situation in Russia would have been better for Germany because those 40 land units have more power than those +13 STR and they also defend much better. With +40 land units in Russia, Germany could also keep all of their FTR+TAC in the west to contest the allies there (but I’m not saying they should). They are just an extra bonus to every front, capable of contesting dead zones more effectively.Anyway, that leaves another 30 land units to be divided between west and east. Add the land units already west, and GE6 -could- have 40 land units in the west if necessary, instead of just 10.
For me, the bottom line is:
yes it is working and it is a very strong strategy, worthy of high level play. It is in fact also surprisingly fun to play. But I wouldn’t call it overpowered. I think our game shows this at least, if not the fact that I perhaps need to work on my Japanese endurance against a heavy early focus by the USA ;-). If that’s the case, so be it. But if Japan can do much better against an early USA focus than I am now, the allies have a problem with Germany regardless of what strategy they use. -

Hmmmm, I know I’m a relative newbie regarding JF stuff, but I know how to J4India. My point is that I deliberately did not go for it (tough decision I admit), because that would position the IJN in the Indian sea J4. With an India scheme I saw the USA + ANZAC going Carolines->Philippines+DEI, also denying Japan their naval set up location at SZ6 all the time. Doesn’t this already mean game over for Japan, even though they control India???
If I’m missing something important, please do tell. How can Japan overcome the above, even though controlling India?I’d like to continue for a while. When I am 100% sure it’s not going to work, we can switch sides again. If I feel up to another game ;-). Don’t know about you but I can play this game too much in a short time.
If you wish, we can then even start from round 2 or 3 so you can still do that J4India. We then just delete the IC I bought J1 and add another TRS in SZ6 and give Japan an extra 4IPCs.

So how you think this will end?
I think it will end as predicted: Japan cannot withstand the JF for much longer (as usual) and then it is Germany versus the world. You think DS is strong enough to face those odds? I doubt it. They’ve got the economy against them.I suggest we play a little longer to see if Germany can make up for the loosing game in the Pacific. But I will be surprised if they can. If it becomes clear they can’t (which I expect), I’d consider the DS myth busted. Another victory for JF over GF, hurray! Same old story as ever: JF is so much easier for the allies compared to GF. Very annoying.
Maybe if Japan is not doing J1. I consider J1 not very good against a USA going to JF. But then again, what JDOW would be…
