    • RE: Large scale AA42 map

Actually Vistaprint accepts pdfs, just ones 12mb or smaller. Which means one has to do the dispicable thing of reducing your awsome map into a smaller file size which means loosing crispness. The terrain, art work, and borders all still look great, its just the lettering that is blurry. In all its not a bad trade off for a vinyl 4’ x 2.5’  map for only $10.00.

    • RE: Large scale AA42 map

Just wanted post a big thank you for the large map. I just got mine in the mail from Vistaprint (medium banner: 4’ × 2.5’). I had to reduce the file size due to Vistaprint’s 12mb limit and over all it printed reasonably well. Some of the small lettering is a little blury, like the purchase table, which while nice isn’t critical. Got it via one of their free poster/banner deals so the cost was dirt cheep,  $10.00 for shipping. (normal price is $29.99+shipping) Like I said its not 100% clear and crisp  like the pdf, but very playable, on vinyl, and I couldn’t beat the price.

    • RE: TripleA choosing casualties

Truth be told I’ve only played  in person games where you select your own casualties and I’m about average win/lose rate with the guys I usually play with. Never really played where you choose your oponents loses.

    • RE: TripleA choosing casualties

My strategy for choosing casualties is useally the following:
For land battles - when choosing oposing side’s  losses, if oponent it defending choose the unit with highest def roll making next rounds def weaker. When they are attacking choose unit with strongest attack roll. Sea battles work about the same except when air and CVs are involved.  If their air dosen’t have any moves left select the CV in this way while you  lose their fighters can’t land at the end of turn and therefor also lost.

When I can select my own casualties I usually do  exact opposite unless I need to take land and it’s a decision between a tank and fighter. Hope this helps.

    • RE: A&A Android/iPhone APP Specs

I was searching through the Andriod market  the otherday and noticed that there are a few A&A helper apps. They appear to track IPCs, and can even track buys, who controlls what, and even display odds based on troop types/numbers. While I’m not an expert programmer, it appears that the biggest reason triplea can’t work on the andriod platform is because troplea uses  Java SWING libs. Not sure how to convert the UI into  an Andriod compatable one but it may be interesting if they could look into it for version 1.6

    • RE: How to Capture an Open, Hostile Territory?

Hobbes: Remember as the attacker you not only delcare what your attacking, you also decide which attack happens when. Using you example you delcare that your attacking Egypt and blitzing  with the intent for the tanks to reinforce Egypt. You then decide which of the attacks first, I.e. do the tanks blitz first then aid in the attack on Egypt (which IMOO, would be the better plan in your example) or do you attack Egypt first and then blitz congo with the tanks winding up in  as the second move in the blitz.

Like I said unless your worried about losing the attack and thus too many troops to make holding the territory a bad idea, adding the tanks to to  could help prevent this as they attack on a 3 or less.
