      The only reasons to get Denmark as Allies is to deny the NO, get a shot at Berlin, or draw German forces west.  The Baltic Sea itself is not a big deal.

      There are so many other ways to hurt Germany.  If he has that one so well guarded, hit him where he isn’t.

      Can submarines use a narrow strait if they don’t own it?

      No, subs cannot pass through straits if their side doesn’t own it.

      except:
      Subs can always pass through Gibraltar
      Allied ships can pass through Denmark, if permission granted by axis (which never happens)
      Nothing goes through the Turkish straits if Turkey is neutral

      @-Savage-:

      This would not be realistic. By the start of the game, the Soviets had recently concluded a disastrous war with Finland already. They “won” the war but suffered hugely. The territory called “Vyborg” on the map represents the territory the Soviets won from Finland in that war. The Soviets knew at the start of this game that it’s military was a disaster due to Stalin’s purges, and would NOT risk another war, especially to provoke the Germans.

      But the game starts with 'Vyborg" in Russia’s hands…so this was their prize for already fighting the Finnish…and the entire world knows about their humiliating status of their armed forces.

      Ya my bad too. Nov. 39 - March 40 war.  40 OOB starts in spring of 40. Too bad.

      Hey Wild Bill we must play a lot of 39 games !!! :-D

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      Did Spring 1942 introduce defenseless transports?

      AA50

      Spring 1942 was basically A&A Revised played with AA50 rules.  1 or 2 Battleships and/or Destroyers were changed to the new Cruiser piece, but otherwise the set up was identical.

      Another issue is that they are out of print–they remain popular in the Tournaments and so they are even re-building starters/boosters I believe (by re-bagging the correct rarities of the available loose pieces) because the sealed boxes ran out a few years ago.

      There is a golf Tee system used by one of the players here in Toronto. Met him at YG’s Tourney this year. Pretty cheap. Two tees of the same colour. One goes in country of origin, and the other goes into the battle territory. Just need to paint a few sets of Tees different colours, or use ones that are already coloured. Worked out nicely. If they are small enough, they aren’t very intrusive at all.
