    • RE: Additional Radar Rules and other musings.

A simple improvement would be giving all Fighters a +1 defense for air superiority (IE the first round of combat) if opposing aircraft exist in the battle.

I think improving radar to give ships any sort of bonus, would be putting the Japanese theatre vs America at another disadvantage. Japan will never get the chance to research radar, whereas the US with their numerous majors certainly will if they wished.

    • RE: House rule: Mongolia

      I agree with the sentiment.

However i would make it simpler by giving USSR a wartime bonus of 1-2 for Mongolia being neutral, and them aligning once USSR is at war with japan.

Do you know if this means as USSR you are able to load up the production box with cheap infantry on the turn they get their discount?

and automatically be pushed to its Wartime income, thus making the peacetime increases not applicable any longer?

I don’t think it would. On the USSR Sheet it says the USSR goes to full income when the “U.S.S.R. is attacked by Major Power.”

Normally I would say that that overrides the nominal rule of a nation being DOW’d, going to full income, but that rule doesn’t actually seem to be written down anywhere anyways. If it doesn’t override it, then this line is superfluous and confusing.

    • RE: War time income

@captainnapalm USSR is the exception to the rule and the exception is in it peacetime increases:

. If the U.S.S.R. declares war on a Major Power before reaching wartime income it does not immediately go to full income but continues Sleeping Bear rolls until it reaches Full Income

I think an explicit mention that you do go to wartime income when at war would be something useful to add to the main book.

However I still think there is a loophole where the USSR were declared war on (say by japan) but not attacked. This would prevent the USSR getting their other peacetime income increases.

    • RE: Japanese surprise attack clarification

I’m going to say no Rules as Written. Ships will never reach a land zone, they can only reach the sea zone around it.

Think of it this way, Say Japan, for some reason, decided to choose the New York SZ. Japanese ships wouldn’t get +1 movement even though they would not be able to get there.

Perhaps the question that needs to be answered is “Can a Japanese ship gain +1 Combat movement to get to this zone even though it is unable to get there in a single turn (or at all as in a land zone)?”

I would say they can not attack It. Somaliland as the rules specify that they only attack Eritrea.

    • RE: Hypothetical Allied Elite expansion

Royal Commandos would be my first choice. Something to represent thing like the Greatest Raid would be neat.

Chindits and the Long Range Desert Group would be good options too.

      Yes you understand correctly.

      can NOT produce war materials.

However im quite sure it can still roll a tech if you move a major.

    • RE: Airborne and fortifications?

@linkler Yeah, it gives the airborne the option to avoid the fort if the transport has long enough range, which makes sense and is good for gameplay.

I play it as if the transport crosses the fortified boarder it counts, otherwise it does not.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

      The current version of the French Fleet rules on surrender state;

The Axis players can decide to let some or all of its newly acquired ships sail to their Home Country under the French Flag. Thus, they can pass any ships belonging to a nation they are at war with. independent on which sea zone they are in, they can make this move in one turn. This must be decided after the rolling has ended.

How does this interact with the Turkish Straits. If, for example, the French fleet moved into the black sea, and then France went to war with a major power they normally would not be able to pass the Straits and would be effectively locked in. If then France Surrendered, and if any ships went axis, would they get to sail back to German home country? if they still are under “French Flag” logically they still wouldn’t be able to pass through the Straits.

And while we are here, say if USSR also declared war on France, would the soon to be german ships be able to pass by a USSR fleet?

    • RE: URSS income

      Huh TIL:

URSS is an alternative spelling of USSR. In other languages, it stands for Union des républiques socialistes soviétiques (French), Unión de Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas (Spanish), Unyon ng mga Republikang Sosyalistang Sobyet (Filipino), Uni Republik Sosialis Soviet (Indonesian), Unione delle Repubbliche Socialiste Sovietiche (Italian), União das Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas (Portuguese), Uniunea Republicilor Sovietice Socialiste (Romanian), among others. Within the Soviet Union itself, “URSS” was the preferred Latin-script abbreviation for the country until World War II, when it was replaced with “USSR”.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

      Abyssinian Alignment.

There seems to be a discrepancy in the rules:

      • In 14.4.2 Vichy France Creation it states that all French Aligned Minor powers, align to Free France.
      • Third: On the Vichy France Reference Sheet it states "All French Controlled/Aligned Minor Powers (e.g. Abyssinia) become Aligned to Free French

      I think this needs a FAQ/Eretta

    • RE: What if Abyssinia Survives?

@chris_henry said in What if Abyssinia Survives?:

      Abyssinia has accouple alignment conditions.

      • First: in 13.2 Italian Campaign in Abyssinia it states that if Aby. wins, its aligns to France as soon as its at war with a Major Power. It also states that if Italy and France are at war Aby Aligns.
      • Second: In 14.4.2 Vichy France Creation it states that all French Aligned Minor powers, align to Free France.
      • Third: On the Vichy France Reference Sheet it states "All French Controlled/Aligned Minor Powers (e.g.* Abyssinia) become Aligned to Free French.

The Second and Third sources are a bit contradictory. This is probably the source of everyone’s confusion and probably should be FAQ’d. Im going to add it to the FAQ thread.

Option 4. Until you are at war, its easier for the USSR to track both domestic IPP production (which goes up to 46) and conquests.

@hbg-gw-enthusiast I would wager that they keep such under a tight lock and key in order to (fairly) prevent people from just printing their own map.

The best one you can probably find, is pulling their 4k resolution image from the store page for the map.
