    • RE: Diplomacy Expansion Favors The Axis?

I think you are looking at the v2 version of the rules.

I dont think there is any good reason why you should be using v2 (even if you have the v2 board).

      In v3 the rule is:

Only Major Powers are eligible to exert influence.

In order to purchase influence the Major Power

must be in possession of its capital. Nations not

listed on the chart cannot be influenced

    • RE: Repairing Railroads - immediate or not?

I believe the FAQ’d it to state facilities are repaired immediately.

    • RE: Victory Points for Captured Objective Cities

It must be intended to only refer to capturing cities, and not recapturing them?

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

      @noneshallpass I would agree.

While it does make logical sense, until its FAQ’d, no where in the rules say you can make a combat move to make an attrition attack, therefore it can’t be done.

@board-3659 Prob not. They probably keep that file under lock and key.

I know the copy on tabletop simulator is fairly legible.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

      A question about blockades:

Does an Island Nation such as the UK and Japan count as blocaded if their remaining naval facilities are damaged?

Another map question, are the Bearing sea and Hudson Bay sea zones adjacent, specifically for flying units?

    • RE: When does KMT Surrender?

@hbg-gw-enthusiast said in When does KMT Surrender?:

Another option: You can win the Civil War despite the other side never surrendering. They might be two entirely different concepts.

It very well may be possible that you can get the KMT to loose the civil war (by them not having any more units) and then at a later point revive them once you are able to liberate a land zone for them (any nation’s whose surrender conditions are no longer met, un-surrender).

I also want to point in 13.3 the result of a side loosing,by having no units in Continental chinese home country, have all their units removed from anywhere outside Chinese Home Country. At first i thought this may be an oversight, but now that i think about its perfect: The only zone that is affected by this discrepancy is Formosa, AKA Taiwan!

    • RE: Expansions

Another idea Prelude (which I have shamelessly stolen from Terraforming Mars):

Option 1: Have a deck of cards that you draw a certain number and resolve before the game begins. Lots of options to represent historical and alt-historical events. Ex: “Trotsky Takes Power” - you now play as, instead of the ‘Communism in One Country’ Stalin, you play as the ‘Worldwide Revolution’ Trotsky.

Option 2: Have a table for each Nation and let them pay 1 IPP for a roll on each. Table will contain generic bonuses (IE partially completed tech), and nation specific ones (IE USSR aligns Mongolia when at war with Japan). Players can buy as many rolls as they can afford, but are punished if duplicates are rolled; each result only happens once).

    • RE: Expansions

      @trig I like that idea.

It might be a little hard to implement however.

Historically the Naval treaties were created under the assumption that BBs were the bestest ships in the sea. Players however know that CVs are the best.

Gamewise if you limit BBs, players would just build CVs and skirt the treaty.

You could have it as so:

      • Allow players to sign a naval treaty before the game starts
      • Modify each nation’s naval start to have less capital ships, a portion of each nation’s capital ships cost is refunded to the nation.
      • Allow players then to cheat/gamble: Allow players to in secret to upgrade some number of ships to a class higher (representing a nation purposely designing, say a Battleship to look like a battlecrusier). Have them roll a d12 and if they fail its “found out” and they suffer a penalty)

    • RE: Expansions

Another opportunity would be an expansion to allow for diplomatic maneuvering between France, Germany and Italy in eastern europe.

For example something representing the development of the Little Entente by france to curb the expansion of Nazi Germany.

    • RE: Expansions

I have been playing around with the idea of a Great Purge expansion. I feel that something this tumultuous in history, that even happened to start in 1936, is a good opportunity for flavour.

Basically it would give USSR NKVD units that would go around the map and purge (Kill) USSR units. The benefit of this would be income increases.

It would give something for the USSR to do in the early game, and it would make the USSR somewhat avoid the ahistorical strategy of (conquer everything possible in July 39).

@chris_henry said in Using Aircraft More Than Once in a Turn:

I’d think they get one defensive action, and it’s up to the defender which one it is they’d like to do.

Oh i agree, i just think its worded poorly. 9.17 just needs a “as per the interception process in table 9-9”

    • RE: Using Aircraft More Than Once in a Turn

The idea is that Table 9-9 step 2 states that the defender decides if they wish to scramble their fighters (scrambling is an overloaded term referring to both using a airbase and choosing to fight bombers). Step 3 then says if scramble then interception

Now if you look at 9.17, there is not “if… then …” it flat out states that carpet bombers ares subject to interception and AA fire. To me this, as written says, there is no choice to scramble, interception just occurs the same way AA fire just occurs.

    • RE: Using Aircraft More Than Once in a Turn

If you really want to be a rules lawyer, a defending fighter can maybe do 2. and 3.

The section on carpet bombing states that the bomber is subject to anti aircraft fire and interception from aircraft. Take not that unlike the section for strategic bombing, there isnt a part for the defender to decide to scramble fighters or not.

Probably not the way its supposed to be played however.

    • RE: Couple dumb questions

      @theveteran

UK will not go to war time income immediately but will instead I believe roll 2D12. this may or may not bring UK to wartime income.

UK Goes to wartime income when "the axis or comentern declares war on france.

you can resolve the carpet bombing rolls in the 1st round of combat. Its not first strike.

While its not technically first strike, you may choose to resolve it before combat occurs in the zone being attacked by other land forces. So it’s effectively first - first strike.

      Good question.

I don’t know the answer, but I should point CCP might not have a capital (as i believe it is the only nation does not have one of the nine capitol cities)

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

@theveteran Yes, because the Spanish Civil War exists at the start of the game.

@gnomegrabbin said in The FAQ Thread:

      table 4-1

Is that the table that also says that they arnt controlled in the 1939 setup?

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

@gnomegrabbin First find a rule that states they are controlled when there is no civil war.

Anything in section 13.1 Spanish Civil War can only occur within the confines of the Spanish Civil War, that includes control.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

@gnomegrabbin The condition for control is the state of the Spanish Civil War. If there is no civil war, there is no control.
