    • RE: Allied Dec. of War on Vichy

Yes, but they also can just LL USSR < 10 IPP and get the USSR to declare war, aligning vichy to the germans and then the allies attack.

    • RE: Vichy defending

Assuming the axis have a mixed fleet of italian and vichy naval units and a british fleet is attacking that sea zone, does UK needs to declare war on Vichy first in order to be able to attack both fleets?

In order to attack both fleets, yes.

In order to attack just the italians, no.

In the following turn they loose the capital and establish their new capital in Morocco. Can they receive lend-lease despite the fact that there is no harbour?

      No they can not.

And if North Algeria is conquered by UK is Free French allowed to move their capital back to North Algeria again or are they only allowed to move their capital when they loose the territory?

Do you mean if North Algeria is conquered by the Vichy? In that case FF does not move their capital again. It remains occupied until it is recaptured (then its returned to FF; Although thats a gray area)

    • RE: Non combat after naval blockade

In section 8.2 it lists blockading as an example of combat movement. 8.11 sort of contradicts this.

I would say in order to enforce a blockade the units need to combat move, and thus couldn’t non combat.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

      @plasticknight

in this case what are those other ships actually attacking besides what’s for all purposes an empty SZ since they cannot engage those subs?

I assume they are there detering the other aircraft from scrambling.

Can ships attack what is effectively an empty SZ?

Yes, because the defender can always decide to not submerge his sub and fight as normal.

So in this case they could seemingly choose to scramble either against the MAP attack or the naval blockade, but not both?

A blockade isnt a battle, despite it being a combat move. Plus the aircraft need a defending unit to scramble to which establishing a blockade does not have by definition.

And my apologies guys if I come across argumentative, just mentally torn on what the rules allow here

      None Needed!

Any time a sub ends a turn next to a zone with an aircraft, its in danger; thats part of the whole game within a game that is submarine hunting.

      @plasticknight

I’m still scratching my head a little on the role those UK surface ships are playing in the MAP battle

Think of it this way, there isnt a MAP battle and a normal battle that occurs in the zone; There is one single battle where 2 units (MAP and Destroyer) can hit submarines, and all other units that attack normally.

    • RE: Spain

I think the civil war just continues as normal. If no one wins by the end of game, well no one wins.

Another question that should be answered is if any nation can declare on nationalist or republican Spain while the civil war is ongoing? I would saw by RAW no, because 13.1 it defines explicitly what each nation can do.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

How many moves does it take to fly over a canal (assuming that you are diplomatically allowed to). Rereading the rules it appears to me that a Canal is part of a land zone naval units can use to move directly from one SZ to the other. Would this mean that to fly over the canal you must move one onto the land zone, and then onto the exiting sea zone?

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

Can you retreat from a combat where you have wiped all opposing units?

In 9.4 it says you can retreat at the end of any combat round in lieu of the next rounds attacks, it makes no mention of having to require opposing units still present.

Also if you cant, what about the case where a submarine submerges, can you retreat from that?

Yes it appears it was accidently removed, see the errata.

    • RE: Any house rules out there for gliders?

@linkler I was leaning towards 4 or 3. Maybe make it 3 and limit its production to two a turn?

    • RE: Any house rules out there for gliders?

Completely off the top of my head:

Gliders cost X IPP (cant decide on a price). They have no movement, they can however be paired 1-1 with a Air Transport to conduct an airborne assault.

A glider may carry any infantry unit or may carry an artillery (only normal artillery, advanced is too heavy), AAA gun or light tank. Like a amphibious assault, non infantry only participate on the second round if a landing is established.

If the air transport it is paired with is destroyed on the first round, the glider and its contents are eliminated as well. The glider is destroyed after use and can not be taken as a casualty.

    • RE: 3D Printing this Game?

@theveteran Yes most cities will have a library that has a 3d printer of some sort these days. It probably depends on the size of your library/city though. It might not be good enough quality to print A&A miniatures but its worth giving it a shot.

    • RE: Chinese territory question

      Situation was FAQ’d

Q: If USSR captures a Japanese land zone in Manchouku, do they need to give it to CCP?

      A: No.

9.20 says “recapture”. As the land zone was not possessed by CCP to begin with, they do not have to return it. They can if they want to, though. This must be decided immediately after conquest.

    • RE: Latin America Expansion Heavily Favors The US?

@mike141500 said in Latin America Expansion Heavily Favors The US?:

st activate Monroe Doctrine and capture it. Giving the US even more IPCs with no trouble since Germany can’t really reinforce it.

The expansion should favour the USA as in the base game aligning the latin american nations are only a USA ability anyways.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

If an american aircraft lands on a british carrier, and on the british carrier, it moves to a zone adjacent to a zone with a german submarine, on the american turn, can the american aircraft go on MAP and then attack the submarine?

Using this strategy seems to make it trivial to hunt down subs.

    • RE: Peacetime Income Increases via D6+3 Instead of D12

We also get a similar discussion about tech rolls because they seems to rely too much on chance. For example, the wartime economy could have a lot of impact in the game.

While we are on that subject you could improve tech by allowing nations to pay to get a +1 or 2 to their tech rolls, or instigate a rule that you get a +x for each other nation has that tech completed.
