    • RE: Air Superiority Rules for GW 1936 v3

      @trig @vondox

Basically, any hits fighters or jets get on the first round of combat must be applied to planes.

To be pedantic hits fighters or jets get on the first round of combat must be applied to planes first, if the planes are killed, the casualties roll over to other units.

@gen-manstein No, as railways are damaged until the end of turn. ;)

I think that it is unreasonable that Infantry defend the same against Heavy armor and militia.

Why not? Historically and to this day, armor is very weak against infantry when unsupported.

    • RE: Landing Allied Planes in Russian Territory

@vondox You can only land british units in france once both nations are at war with the same enemy.

You also can’t land british militia in france as militia can not move outside of the home country.

    • RE: Is it best for Italy to stay Neutral?

I think a good question to ask before going to war is “Can i take Gibraltar/Suez”

Taking one or both of these is incredibly useful strategically.

    • RE: The FAQ Thread

      Abyssinian Alignment.

There seems to be a discrepancy in the rules:

      • In 14.4.2 Vichy France Creation it states that all French Aligned Minor powers, align to Free France.
      • Third: On the Vichy France Reference Sheet it states "All French Controlled/Aligned Minor Powers (e.g. Abyssinia) become Aligned to Free French

      I think this needs a FAQ/Eretta

I play it as if the transport crosses the fortified boarder it counts, otherwise it does not.

I would say they can not attack It. Somaliland as the rules specify that they only attack Eritrea.

    • RE: Japanese surprise attack clarification

I’m going to say no Rules as Written. Ships will never reach a land zone, they can only reach the sea zone around it.

Think of it this way, Say Japan, for some reason, decided to choose the New York SZ. Japanese ships wouldn’t get +1 movement even though they would not be able to get there.

Perhaps the question that needs to be answered is “Can a Japanese ship gain +1 Combat movement to get to this zone even though it is unable to get there in a single turn (or at all as in a land zone)?”

@didier_de_dax said in Canada and Canada at War expansion question:

But I don’t understand why Canada wont collect the bonus peacetime income on its first turn ? (if this was still up to date).

I dont see why they would? Their former (making this all an academic conversation) increase was if “Axis submarines end their turn on a British Convoy Line.” By their turn they mean the German, Japanese or Italian turns.

You might be confused, you may be thinking that those were “peacetime bonus income” but they are “peacetime bonus income increases”?

    • RE: House rule: Mongolia

      I agree with the sentiment.

However i would make it simpler by giving USSR a wartime bonus of 1-2 for Mongolia being neutral, and them aligning once USSR is at war with japan.

    • RE: Terrains modifiers that affect land units movements

@didier_de_dax said in Terrains modifiers that affect land units movements:

I dont know about the other two situations fut for your third

-Third situation, the “A” territory is a mountain, am I still able to reach the “C” territory with my medium tank?

See Eretta: “The territory you are standing in does not count (assume you are standing right at the border). The first territory you move into determines the type of terrain.”

So if you start in mountains you can make it to zone C.

    • RE: Terrain movement restrictions

I believe there is a FAQ that states that when you start movement, you start right at the border, so the terrain of the starting zone doesnt count.

@Warwick I would say no. The mountain border reduces the movement by one, and it remains at one even when it gets to clear gorount.

    • RE: The Alignment/Control of Finland

They align to Germany. Despite Germany not being at war with the USSR, all alignment and controls are assigned to germany (unless you are playing with that one optional rule).

In Table 4.3, under ‘Assigning alignment and control’ it states that both alignment and control are assigned to germany. Only Siam would be assigned to japan.

Nowhere does it imply that comentern attacking a neutral would go to the allies.

    • RE: German Possesses Iraq? Never gonna happen right?

@aldrahill The German player can easily take syria when they declare war on france. Italy has an easier go at it, they just load up an infantry and artillery on turn 1 and go for a Mediterranean cruise.

    • RE: Are We Forced to Place Units from the Production Chart?

@noneshallpass said in Are We Forced to Place Units from the Production Chart?:

Otherwise the sentences “If you cannot place a unit for any reason it remains on the Production Chart until a later turn” (11.1) and “You may postpone the placement of units in the place units box if desired” (7.3) do contradict themselves.

I think there might be two different concepts in place here. When you build an infantry, it doesn’t actually go on the place units box and thus must be placed. When you build a ship it does go on the place units box and can be delayed.
