Sorry for the confusion. Today I looked at it again and in fact see no difference :-D. It was possibly the distortion of the map proportion that made me feel this way (and also meaning I am still a newbie in this game )

Difference between TripleA Map and OOTB Mapposted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
Hey guys,
When I try the Triple A version 5 map (for 1942 2nd edition), I notice that the map and initial setup arrangement are different from the 42 2nd edition I have. Is there a reason why they are different (balance issue? Just for fun?) Just curious….also, In Triple A is there a place I can play with the exactly the same map and initial setup like the official one?
Thanks

RE: Submarine Questinoposted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
Crystal clear now. Thank you for all you guys’ info.
I have one more question related to transport - assume there is an allies (let say British) transport sitting in a sea zone between 2 lands - one is controlled by US and one is controlled by Axis. If this is US turn, and there is a US land unit at one land, May I use that transport to load and unload this land unit at same turn so that I can fight with that Axis land unit? My feeling is I might not able to do this but want to double check.

RE: Is it balanced??posted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
I played with my friends last week and although we didn’t finish the game, it is possibly Allies would win. By the end of the last turn, Japan was losing stream and Germany was sandwiched by British and Russia. Africa was in US’s hand. That felt good

Submarine Questinoposted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
Hello,
I have a question for Submarine at 42 2nd edition. Let say Germany submarine stays at US sea zone that is next to U.S. IC. In US’s turn US dropped a destroyer, transport x2 and aircraft carrier with fighters without attaching the submarine; now it’s in Germany’ turn, since submarine is not a surface warship, are they allowed to retreat considering a destroyer is present? in menu I see there is rules regarding surface warships (which they can choose to retreat), but I don’t see note for submarine/transport (Transport possibly dies by itself). Anyone can tell me the answer?
BTW I played once today and my team was killed by Germany’s sea lion action…That hurts

RE: 1942 2nd Edition - Questionposted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
I am just curious about the balance….in previous thread I saw a few discussion saying it favors Axis but there are also folks saying the game is balanced without bids… Are any change on the opinion since then? It seems to me Axis is strong at the beginning (it always is ;-)) but I haven’t play enough to come into any conclusion.

RE: 1942 2nd Edition - Questionposted in Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition
I am new to 1942 2nd edition too although I did play 1-2 games of the classic version (MB). Picking this game up again brings me lot of good memory ;-)
Something I notice that has changed (you probably can find a more detailed description from some other page in this forum)
Map - Map is key difference and it makes some classic strategy more difficult to pull off.
Default set up - This changes a lot. Russia used to have a lot more resource to start with and in this version it’s less. England now has a factory in India by default.
Rule - Some rules are changed - for example you cannot put unlimited amount of recent purchased units in the same territory; transport cannot be used as casualty unless it is the last resort…etc
Price - Like Armor - it now costs 6 instead of 5
No more research weapon thing
Different option rules (like Russia cannot attack on 1st turn rule)
Different winning condition (now it has victory cities)It’s a fun game! Give it a try - I am still learning how to beat the Axis efficiently in this new version!
