Zhukov was not a German. Soviet generals always won battles with quantity. If both sides switched equipment and numbers, Germany would have won.

As far as “boots” you need to employ the zombie rules…For every two Canadian infantry drafted, one disappears since it avoided service. This models canada exactly.

RE: New Superpowers Gameposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Its not a nice thing to blast the game . Give this man his props that he has the courage to put his money on the table as an individual and make a very expensive investment.
What you should do instead is offer constructive criticism so that he can make it better next time if you feel he missed the mark.
What is important is if the game is playable rather than historical. AA is not historical but you play it, so why does this have to be the exception?

RE: In GENERALS !posted in World War II History
@superbattleshipyamato123 Rommel didn’t pair up with anybody, but he commanded Both German and Italians. Manstein and Guderian both fought together on the eastern front. I don’t think this is a “dream scenario” but a actual experience of having one in command of the front or army group and another directing the schwerpunt (sp?) of the effort. Who did Rommel actually have as an front line commander? Remember this isn’t a dreamland scenario, or maybe it is.

RE: Axis & Brollies : Action Cards and Event Cardsposted in Customizations
you should set it up with card decks made at “Artscow” or something like it in terms of name. They are sold as long as you set up account and you will earn a bit of change

Namibe: 1 Infantry, 1 Cavalry
Rio De Oro: 1 Infantry, 1 Cavalrysome rules ( even if you play using 1914 rules)
Land Units attempting to pass into or out of the desert need to roll for survivability. Infantry rolling a D6 are lost if they roll a 5-6. If they are moving into or thru originally occupied desert territories they can pass unless they roll a 6. Non- infantry units pass but only at the rate of 1 space per turn (they don’t need to roll). Cavalry are exempt from survivability rolls and can move two spaces. Also, each land unit that remains in Desert territories have to roll to avoid effects of supply shortage avoiding a 6 result keeps them being removed from play.
Nations such as those not owned by a European colonial Empire ( Guinea, Liberia, Abyssinia) and all areas that do not have a direct IPC value including Sahara Desert territories and all original territories do have a potential intrinsic military value. Each time such an area is attacked the owning player (opposing player) rolls a D6 1-3 means there are indigenous forces equal to what was rolled and 4-6 means no additional forces at this time. As long as you garrison your newly captured territories you don’t have to roll for native attacks. If the enemy recaptured it from you then a new roll will have to occur. These forces will now be regarded as Natives which each attack and defend at 1 and can move one territory. Natives can never be used to attack neutral territories but can defend your newly captured territories or fight your original enemies.
Plunder: The first time a territory with an IPC value is taken that player rolls a D4 and receives the immediate income to be used to raise new troops or equipment that turn. The items are placed in your original home territories at the end of your turn even if you just won this territory during your turn. Territories on the top row of the map that are also represented on the European map are not subject to plunder.
The German player can build Askaris, which are 1-1-1 units costing 2 IPC up to the limit of original German IPC on the map (Germany starts with 6 IPC so it can build up to six of them
The Cruisers are 2-2-4 units
Destroyers are 1-2-4 units
Submarines 1-2-4 units
Armored Cars are: 2-2-2-5
Cavalry are: 1-2-2-4 units
No tanks can be built -
RE: Visiting Battlefieldsposted in World War II History
World War Two was caused by that dreaded Gleiwitz Radio station broadcasting blasphemy and a few dead German political prisoners ( whom Heydrich staged as Polish) left behind to make Germany look good. They looked good till they found out what really happened.
The old Battleship Schleswig-Holstein just happened to be nearby to fire some of the first salvos as it happened to be just off the Polish coastline and about 80% of the German army just happened to be deployed at the Polish border just in case radio broadcasts would get taken over by anti-German polish broadcasters.
Hitler just happened to have detailed plans on destroying Poland.
Himmler just happened to have plans for systematically killing off entire segments of the population.
Yea so Poland started it, or UK who made the mistake of having a treaty with Poland for protection in case of invasion. Yea i got a bridge to sell you too…in Brooklyn.

RE: [Global 1940] Manpower Limitations?posted in House Rules
To not bother keeping track, some unit costs or limits imposed on a specific turn.
Ideas: no player can spend more than 50% of income on Infantry
Or Infantry costs +1 starting turn X -
RE: 2nd Edition, WWII: Struggle for Europe and Asiaposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
This game will be played in Tempi, Arizona at the convention ( summer i think) The rules are less than before but they are a bit more complicated than even global 1936. I bought the first mega copy ( $995.00 i remember) and sold it. It was a high curve to maintain in terms of getting the pieces and counters together… ( it took too much time) If you enjoy Hearts of Iron style this game is for you.

RE: Should the Deustchland class pocket battleships be called battlecruisers?posted in World War II History
@superbattleshipyamato that ww1 BB is no BC, Scharnhorsts definitely yes, its not a BB, its got smaller guns but has speed
-
RE: Balancing Cruiser (CL) and Battleship (BB) units with other A&A unitsposted in House Rules
Right leave all the units as they are, Cruiser gets 3 move because the range of this ship was much greater than others as well the speed was on the upper range to keep up with fast carriers, also they had the best AA platforms than all warships because their job was to protect warships from aerial attack. Keep price the same.

RE: Finland In Axis & Allies Stalingrad?posted in Axis & Allies Stalingrad
I feel these are Romanians and or Italians, which held the shoulders of the front line around the flanks of Stalingrad. They were decimated. Hungarians fought quite well and held their own. on a D8 i rate them as a whole weaker than Infantry and cheaper. In this game they are probably the Free French units in AA Afrika meaning cannon fodder for the axis. Hitler employed them for this reason, which is no difference than how Putin brings North Korean green troops for that same purpose. History does repeat itself it seems…

RE: [1942 2nd ed] An Approach to a 4th Set-Upposted in House Rules
@cloud7707 you should probably post pictures from 1942 online, not this thing. The vast majority of people play 1942 in this format. Any a few thoughts…
- give Russia a Bomber
- move German bomber and fighter out of UKR
- give Germany 1 extra army in UKR
- Move Japanese DD and AP out of reach of UK CA
- Move Karelia factory to Kazakh
- Decrease Volgograd ipc to 1, increase Moscow ipc to 9
