    • RE: Oppinion on moves

      Very interesting, thanks YG.  I was just about to post a new thread asking if anyone has attacked neutrals with Allies or seen others do it.  I was considering it in my next game.

      What turn does USA typically land in Spain?

      Similarly, what do you think are the best case strategies for Axis?

      @Young:

      America must support ANZAC and take the $5 Island NO away from Japan, and should establish a beachhead in Spain, feed it 10 Infantry and 10 artillery using 10 transports every other round, be sure UK is in a position to challenge Turkey and your transports are protected from German air units.

      Are you suggesting to break neutrality with the Allies?

      @wittmann:

      I have not won as the Axis as yet, but should this game be seen as more of a tournament set up and the Axis given a timer victory instead?
      I find it fun and do not see it as a must to win as the Axis, only a different perspective and possibly historical ending. (?)
      Perhaps the Japanese should lose 3 units and the Germans be given 3 in exchange.

      I hope, incidentally,  all are  playing with the amended Sub set up as suggested by Krieghund.
      I mean moving one German Sub to a different SZ, so one of the two survives.

      Where did Krieghund post that suggestion?

      We played this weekend and Japan won, I believe on turn 6.  USA went KGF with little to nothing in the Pacific and Japan ran wild taking almost all of China and then India on turn 5.  Moscow stacked infantry and also had an armor stack rolling through south west Europe.  USA took Italy down but it was too late as Japan took Hawaii.

      Next time more attention to the pacific.  Either more $ into the USA fleet in order to challenge Japan’s massive fleet or Persian factory to reinforce India.

      Thanks Colonel,
      I somehow missed Panther’s post.  Appears that the turn order has also changed.

      Anybody? Looking to start playing tomorrow morning and would like to clear up this confusion beforehand.

      Surely some of you have played the G42 setup.

      G42 setup linked in the first post calls for BOTH Italian units AND French units in TUNISIA.

      Which is correct?

      Awesome for the game to make an appearance.  I don’t watch the show though, I tried a couple times and didn’t find it funny at all.  Seinfeld on the other hand I can watch over and over.

      Okay thanks.  I must’ve seen it in the 1940 Pacific rulebook.

    • USA fighter in China

      Is this fighter limited in movement to territories in china? I think the 1942 first edition rule book noted this but I can’t find anything about it in the second edition.

    • RE: Retreat rules

      That makes sense now, thanks YG.  We weren’t thinking of the AA shots as part of the first round of combat, we were thinking that they happened before combat started.

      I posted another question in the FAQ sticky if you have time to read that one as well.

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      On page 24 of the Europe rules, in the bottom right the photo caption says 'On Italy’s turn, the UK sub in sea zone 97 can cost Italy up to 2 IPCs.

      Shouldn’t this read 6 IPC’s since UK would roll 2 dice for their sub and if they rolled two 3’s that would be 6 damage to Italy, and they have a total of 8 IPC value adjacent to this sea zone so they could absorb all of it.

    • Retreat rules

      Say Russia’s anti-aircraft shoots down 2 of Germany’s planes at the beginning of the battle.  Can Germany now retreat without having performed a single round of combat?  Or do they need to run atleast one round of combat before retreating?

      We couldn’t find this in the rule book so we let Germany retreat but I’d like to know for future reference.

    • RE: Japan into Alaska on J1

      @dukbrand:

      The US never sees much action in our games. My thought was take Alaska and the Canadian territories then build a minor ic there. I didnt put much thought into it. So far Japan has won every game since we started playing

      Are you playing Global or Pacific only?

      16 IPC for 2 destroyers… may be better served buying 5 infantry to absorb the bombardment shots.

    • RE: FAQ Now Available

      @Krieghund:

      @IKE:

      You cannot bring only a transport into a sea zone with an enemy sub and offload.

      This applies only to amphibious assaults, not to noncombat movement.

      Was not aware of this, thanks!
