    • Orange County, California - Axis & Allies and/or TripleA - Face-to-Face Only

      Hi folks,

Looking for Axis & Allies opponents in Orange County for face-to-face play (not e-mail). Willing to play the board versions or use TripleA (hot-seating).

I enjoy all incarnations: Hasbro, Guild of Blades, TripleA, etc. I also enjoy all historical and fantasy periods.

      E-mail me if interested.

Actually, there are no native Americans. Some can be called Earlier Immigrant Americans compared to others.

    • RE: U.S.S.R and Lend-Lease supplies?

      1. Murmansk was a side show. Over 80% of Lend-Lease came through Iran. Not only was it a supply conduit, but we had huge truck factories built there. And, it wasthe trucks that really benefitted the Russians. They produced huge numbers of AFV’s themselves and their T-34’s were superior to our Valentines and Shermans.

      2. Japan lost a war to Russia in 1939. I see no reason they would sue for peace in 1939 and then launch a war in 1941. The main benefit of this route was not by shipping. It was the aircraft we gave the Russians. Since we were at war with Japan, we had huge air bases in Alaska. We would fly the planes there, paint on Russian insignias, and then Russian crews would fly them home.

    • 3 Solitaire Scenarios

For those of you who don’t want to hack the xml files, here are 3 solitaire scenarios I had fun playing and they were a challenge: (use more n able AI)

With the AI being quite inept, you have to give it big advantages. But, properly positioned, it can be quite fun to play against. Here are 3 solitaire scenarios that will make you sharpen your strategies and tactics:

      http://www.rainbownerd.com/wargaming/Three_Solitaire_Scenarios.zip

      1. 270BC - Hannibal: You are Hannibal and you must conquer the world against the 7 nations allied against you. This is a good starter scenario. The 2-Hit elephants are a big advantage and this scenario is not too hard.

      2. 270BC - Caeser: This one is a bit harder. You are Caeser and must conquer the world against the 7 nations allied against you. You also have 2-Hit units. But, they are stationary forts. Their lack of mobility makes both defense and offense more difficult.

      3. Ultimate Pants - Marsupial Mayhem: Having heard of the horrors of Gallipoli, you are determined to not let it be repeated. So, you lead your Australian countrymen against the other 15 warmongering nations and impose peace on the world (Perhaps you should have not watched all those Crocodile Dundee movies last night). Conquering the island nations is not that hard (Japan, England, USA, Canada). But, staying on the mainland is tougher.

In all 3 scenarios you can count on sea superiority. But, you still need to maximize basic military strategies to win. You will need to do lots of feinting, scattering your enemy, building strong points, and mobile defense.

I found these scenarios to be difficult enough to provide a good challange. If you think they are too easy, I’ll make harder ones (grin).

    • RE: Triple A

Actually, I find the AI to be good competition. For example, edit the 270 B.C. map or the Ultimate Pants map so your country is one alliance and all the other countries in the world are another alliance. In 270 B.C., winning as Rome or Carthage wasn’t too hard. The others were hard. And, I still have not been able to win as Egypt. In Ultimate Pants, try taking over the World as Australia. Lots of fun. It is a lot harder, though if you are a continental power, like Germany or Russia. You have a hard time defending your capitol. And the smaller countries, like Italy, are still impossible for me.

      Lots of fun, though.

I have been in too man pbem games where others have quit in the middle.

Or, play as the nuetrals (the computer allows them to enter each other’s territories). Take over the world as the nuetrals in

      1. Total World War, December, 1941
      2. Non-allied in Ultimate P Talibush 7 Alliances

In fact, some of the newer mods with multiple alliances have some weaker alliances:

      1. Domination 1901, try the American-China-Germany-France

Another way to play against the computer is to play a small country where there are many countries on both sides. Pick the weaker alliance and see if you can turn the tide with your Iraqi’s or Thai’s. Play just the Dwarves in Middle Earth or just the Americans in The Great War. It can be difficult to save your side. When you play this way, you can have 2-3 games running simultaneously to minimize waiting. (I do save after each of my turns when I do this).

Oops. Forgot to do diplomacy (not used to playing multiple-player TripleA).

It is a good thing I am at peace with everyone (hint, hint).

Excuse me while I go shoot my ambassadors and get new ones. It must be their fault. It is never the King’s fault - never!

Wow! I have a fleet in this version. Those Italian fishing trawlers better watch out. I am putting my black sheep nephew in charge of my one little warship and he will probably terrorize them.

      I’ll play Austria.

      I have the game installed.
I have signed up for this forum.
I have signed up for the TripleA forum.

      1. I’ll see about the dice program.
      2. Is diplomacy done here or privately?
      3. Is it about 1 round per week?
