    • RE: [House Rules] Axis get too much money

Something that I fooled around with for a bit, is giving the US the 30 IPC Pacific bonus for going to war. They get it straight away and it only works for one time. Along with a 5 IPC Bonus for being at war with the Axis. (Happens per turn)

Another thing I do at times is that I add a US infantry to Midway, Guam, and Wake Islands. I also add French Infantry and French Artillery to Indochina. Creates a minor road block for the Japanese, so they cant just walk in and take it.

      @Narvik:

It is designed as a balanced game, if the Axis win all the time, you need to learn to play the Allies correct, not change the set up or income

I would like to point out that it is virtually impossible to have the Allies win in a timely manner using OOB. The only realistic way for the allies to win is to have the Axis Surrender. For that to happen, 1 of 2 things would have to happen.

      1. The Axis Player Blundered way too much
      2. The Allies played, really, really well

To respond to the first post, I think the Axis have enough money, I just think the Allies need a bit more. You dont want to hand them the game, but throw them a bone, to help them out.

Ah, makes sense. I usually go for Japan anyways. But I dont play with OOB victory conditions. Makes sense though.

I think that yes you dont get those 2. Its a little bending of the rules. Its smart for the Germans to do that.

Just asking, dont follow strategy here too often.

How is KGF not viable? Its viable in 42.2, but thats a completly different game. Just curious why.

Maybe add the UK into the mix? They can become a viable landing threat.

I have a different idea. 2 French Infantry appear upon a successful Allied Amphibious Assault on mainland France and Holland/Belgium. So a max of 6.

The French resistance gets 1 infantry every turn on London. They can depart from an operational airbase into Occupied mainland France. This dude does 1 damage to a facility of your choice. The Germans have to roll a 3 or higher to discover it, and battle ensues. If the resistance member wins, it does not take the territory. As long as your other one is in mainland France, you cannot produce another one.

      Any thoughts?

Ive seen new players do some crazy things.

Bought nothing but Infantry for Russia and left 1 Infantry on each territory up to Moscow. Safe to say, I wasnt taking Moscow. Ive also had new players harass the American Fleet on G1 with a sub. He sank it.

Best advise: Be Prepared for anything, even the worst.

      @taamvan:

yes but attacking Hawaii without killing a grand fleet and only mopping up a few surface ships is

      to awaken a sleeping giant

So the options are, do a Peral Harbor and wipe out surface vessels or dont and let it build. I think you should. It sets the US back a turn or two depending how they respond.

I had suggested long ago that the US should get a battleship off Washington and a battleship off Honalulu. It was shot down vigorously and deemed a horrible idea as it was way to powerful for the United States to have 3 battleships in the setup… now I’m reading $100 bids for American Infantry?

So are the 2 added American battleships still a horrible idea?

Can’t be worse than Japan having 3 carriers when in 1940 they only had 4 fleet carriers, about the same number as the US.

I am pretty sure the correct setup for Japan was 4 carriers and the US only had 3 in the Pacific and I think 2 in the Atlantic.

Im sure France had a battleship in the Med until operation torch, after that IDK. but would we put one there?

It was incomplete by the time France fell and I think Vichy France almost had it ready to port.

It was called the Jean Bart, moored at Casablanca when Operation Torch Commenced. It actually fired several shots at the American Task Force and lost about 2 dozen men.

      @calvinhobbesliker:

France had 5 battleships and 2 more under construction.

Thats what I thought, they had at least 1 in the med, that was in port when France surrendered in 1940.

What the heck, $100 for US land units?

I would rather have the $160 in all Battleships

    • RE: Usa Stragegy

I feel that it really depends on what each axis side is doing

For example: Germany decides to go full sealion. US should build up a “Liberation force”. Or if Germany is a lot more threating, then the US should build up a substational force and land it where ever its needed. (NA, Italy, Norway, etc.)

If Japan is more threatning, then a large fleet build up is the way to go. Droping 2 dudes on Hawaii per turn is a great idea here.

Personally, Japan is the one that I ususally go for.

      Germany first buy -

      1 Carrier
      2 Transports
      1 Destroyer
      1 Sub
      (Placed in SZ 101)

      2 Infantry
      (Western US)

      2 left

      Japan first buy

      2 Carriers
      1 Battleship

      Balanced(ish) buy

      1 Carrier
      1 Bomber
      (SZ 6)

      1 Destroyer
      1 Sub
      1 Transport
      (SZ 101)

      1 Infantry
      (Western US or Eastern US)

    • RE: 1914 Rules Rework

Been gone for a while.  :-D

Anyways, what you guys have done is great.

Go ahead with the map change
If anyone wants to do it, go ahead

Rules, I think we are done. I will start to compile the rules and start the rule book tonight!

Next we need playtesters, At least 10 games need to be played with a certain rule unless it becomes blatantly obvious that it needs to be changed.

Works better. Something to add, For Amphib Assaults and Reinforcement, 1 Unit on the Transport must be an Infantry.
