    • RE: Strategic Bombing: Calculating odds

an average roll is 3. a flak gun will hit a bomber one out of 6 times (by chance.

strat bombing is a gamble, because if everything happened perfectly, you lose equal to the amount you spent on the bomber. strat bombing must be done to a country that is running out of ways to make money, or otherwise it is almost a waste of time.

    • RE: Why did the USA enter WW1?

The British blockade was starving Germany to death, and German strategist planned on winning the war (or at least britain’s surrender) in 6 months.

    • RE: Pearl Harbor

i tried the pearl harbor thing more then once. Japan should focus its naval resources against india and china. attacking the US fleet is fruitles, because america could counterattack with fighters, a bomber and a battle ship and more. japan’s bread basket is Asia. go for asia and pinch russia be4 america pinches germany.

    • Why did the USA enter WW1?

The USA enters WW1, after the Zinnerman telegram, unrestricted sub warfare, bla bla bla. I’m jsut wondering, do you believe that American business pressured the US into WW1 in order to make more money, or do you think that the restrictions put on US business, and that the European countries didn’t pay their debts, therefore making the war less profitable to big business.

IMO, i believe that American companies did have something to do with America’s involvment, because even though labor gained more power, armament companies made billions of dollars.

      Whats your take?

    • RE: Attack Alaska

why should you attack the american fleet? america can’t land on japan if they wanted to.

please help me if my strat is flawed. if you use the carrier to assist on the attack on India and if america decides to build up in pacific, just bring your fleet to japan and defend.

if america builds up fully in the east, don’t they waste valuable resources of attacking germany?

    • RE: Soviets in Trouble!!

Russia restricted is a much use house rule. russia can hurt germany way too much in turn 1.

so, how about strategies for a restricted russia?

personally, in turn 1, i buy 8 infantry, put them all in karelia, keep one guy in cacasus (spelling!), and put all 4 tanks in Novorbirsk so they can retake karelia, or attack japanese holdings.

do you think ti would be smarter to put as mucht tanks in karelia, and counter attack against germany in turn 2?

    • A&A Strategy Problem!

I think I’m going about the game all wrong. When I play, I do awesome as britain and japan, decent as russia, and horrible as america and germany.

it seems that most people here say “have japan take on russia.” I just don’t see how this is possible.

When I play, India must be taken in the first turn, and if this doesn’t happen, GB builds a complex there, and Japan has to spend money on defense.

Taking India in the first turn in no problem. Then it takes 2 turns to take out both chinas, and then russia. but this leaves a problem! The earliest tanks can reach the border of moscow itself is turn 4, if you go against india in turn one.

Now if you don’t take on india, you get into a building contest with Britain, and america just needs to buy a couple of subs to force your offensive forces to withdraw. If you do take india, russia is safe for 4 turns. Now Even if japan gets a complex in india and manchuria, by turn 5, they could have maybe 9 (maximum! realistically you have maybe 4 to 6!) tanks on the border of russia. Russia has a huge stockpile of infantry and there is no way those tanks will make a difference.

that is the problem! how can japan get enough forces against russia ASAP? Should germany aim on taking caucasus and africa so russia diverts forces in karelia so germany and japan can attack a split up russia?

    • RE: Where the heck are Germany's vaunted U-Boats?

Germany is not a fleet builder. They have to take our russia first, and in the meantime, they should build a complex in egypt. the fleet is kind of useless. by the time an attack for GB is ready, germany will have the aircraft to detsroy GB’s fleet, and then build up.

but then again, germany is my worst country!

    • RE: Best Japanese first turn.

The first thing you should do is by a fighter or tank(s) and a transport.

Pull your fleet back too Japan and or India. Use your transport to get troops and on turn one use all available men, and one or two aircraft to take India. Now depending if you’re playing with the rule that russia is allowed to attack in first turn, retake your lost land, and use a transport to get more men in from japan.

If Russia didn’t take the land, then build up the area.

By turn 3 Japan must be in the position for a complete take over of East Asia by turn 4 (or better yet, turn 3.) If Russia moves valuable forces from defense against germany, demand that germany ups the pressure.

    • RE: Favorite country

My favorite is Japan because I find it the easiest, though I must say, UK and Russia are very fun as well.

The war is either won or lost if Germany takes Africa and then Russia. As Russia, you get a lot of action, and as long as you can split german offensive forces, the americans and british will be sending wave after wave of men into western Europe by turn two.

Now Japan is fun, because short term, it is pretty untouchable. I don’t want to sound ignorant, but the truth is if you let the US fleet alone, and you concentrate on east europe, taking india in the first turn, the US can only have a pissing contest.

If they build a fleet to start Island hopping, use your fleet to cripple them, and it would take more than one turn just to reinforce their fleet. By the time they can even THINK of harming japan, japan will have so many IPCs, japan will be able to outbuild america.

America could not match the jap fleet in time. Remember, the alliance is won or lost depending on if russia falls. after that, it is a free for all, usually japan turning on Germany.

Japan can buy cheap subs to hold off any American attack in the first 4 turns, and with their aircraft and men, they can take East Asia.

Japan is pretty intact. It has the advantage of being an island nation, with immense land power.

    • RE: How to protect German Med. Fleet?

keep fighters in germany to attack an royal navy, they can defend the med as well.

my med fleet is threatened by that one stupid brit sub, but usually you can not be threatened by it too much.

I lost one of my Placement Cards (they tell you where to put your units in the beginning of the game) for Russia. Can someone give a link or post the amounts of certain units per territory?

    • RE: How long do your board games usually last?

      I have played 6 games.

My first game lasted until Britain fell, about 7 hours.

My second game was 4 hours.

My third game was 4 hours.

My fourth game was another 4 hours (against the same person.)

My fifth game during the superbowl lasted 2 and a half hours (Allies fell) and

My sixth game had no clear victor and we called it quits when they kicked us out of my old elementary school (7 hour game.)

We play with all normal rules besides we play World Domination and Russia doesn’t attack on first turn. The next game we play, we plan to put aside and continue it to the bitter end.

The longest game I heard of was over 50 hours, and America won.
