I’m a bit confused by this excerpt:
“If you move all of your units out of a contested territory and leave only units from the other side there, the other side will
immediately claim the territory (see “Taking Control of a Territory”, page 20). If the territory was originally controlled by a
power on the other side, that power will take control (even if it has no units present).”
Do you have to leave an occupational force in captured enemy territory?
I will be selling sets of pieces on eBay once I get the games. � Keep a look out for them. � I will also be selling the game boards and extras for those that do not care about using pieces from other games to play. � Usually a good way to get the game and set up charts and instructions without pieces for a lower price.
What price would you be selling them for and can I place an order right now?
As IL will tell you, they don’t and never will do Expansion packs. You have to buy a whole other game.
If I were to call customer support and ask them for more, could I get more like what I had to do for Pacific 1940?
Expansion pack: as well as the new units, we should get enough extra originals to cover all shortages found in playing; Germany will surely need more than 4 subs in some games.

I went back and looked at a previous post about the game contents and to my shock and horror I realized that each nation only gets 12 Infantry, 10 Artillery, 4 Tanks, 4 Fighters,
4 Battleships, 4 Submarines, 6 Cruisers and 6 Transports! I don’t know about you guys but I feel like this is an appallingly small amount of pieces, If they were to at least double the number of
these pieces I’d be satisfied but this reminds me of Pacific 1940’s Japanese Tactical Bomber pieces (in the fact that there weren’t enough of them). Heck some of the nations will use up all
their Infantry pieces with just the set up! Can I order more pieces separately without having to buy another game?
That is precisely why I haven’t bought the 2nd edition of the 1940 games (I own all other A&A games). They are pricey and you get a couple new sculpts and new rules. Worth over $110? I think not. I can play the 1st edition with the downloaded rules/setup no problem. I don’t need an extra map or 1000 more sculpts.
Now, if they had an ‘expansion’ with the new rule books and sculpts for, say, $20 (or even $30-$40) I would buy that.
Not sure why they wouldn’t want to make money that way…
I completely agree with you, I just use the downloaded rule book for Global 1940. If they do release a “revised” or “Anniversary” edition next year with unique sculpts for all the nations than
I’m not buying it, I’ll look on Ebay or somewhere else to order the sculpts themselves because that is what I want and I’m not going to pay extra for something that I already have. I
haven’t bought any sculpts for Global 1940 because the ANZAC infantry just looks comically disproportionate to the other infantry and I don’t think that ANZAC needed entirely unique
sculpts. I haven’t bought Italian sculpts because I can’t stand the idea of conquering North Africa with (shudder…) Fiats!

Poland has a coast line in 1914… that’s news to me.� Prussia should boarder the “Livonia” province and Poland should be land locked.
It’s even arguable whether Poland should be there at all. Poland was partitioned between Russia, Austria and Prussia back in the 18th century, and it didn’t re-emerge as an independent state until after WWI. I don’t know if any of the three partitioning powers (Russia, Austria and Prussia) used “Poland” as an official regional name for their piece of Poland’s territory between 1772 and 1919. My understanding is that Tsarist Russian tried hard to suppress anything that smacked of Polish nationalism.
Alexander II actually gave Poland some self autonomy during the Great Reforms but because a lot of Polish noblemen revolted, after being denied more autonomy than what the Tsar
was willing to give, it was then brutally suppressed and had all of its autonomy taken away again. The region was still referred to as ‘Poland’ because Poles were subjected to different laws
than what Russians were.
Interesting Historical Point: There was a secret protocol in the Central Powers Alliance, that Italy would join a war as long as it did not involve Great Britain. It was the British decision to support France that lead to Italy declaring neutrality in 1914. They only joined later to try and gain advantage over Austria and claim some disputed border territories.
Sound like an interesting read, may I ask where you heard this? I had read that the reason Italy didn’t join the Central Powers was because the Triple Alliance pact was founded upon the
idea of mutual defense. When Germany and Austria-Hungary approached Italy about getting into the war, Italy said that because Austria-Hungary was the one who declared war on Serbia
that it was an offensive war that did not apply to the Triple Alliance pact. Italy had also had some falling out with Germany and Austria-Hungary during the Italo-Turkish War as Germany in
particular was trying to get the Ottomans into their camp, plus Italy and Austria had a long rivalry with each other over the Italian speaking portions of the Austro-Hungarian empire.

Not a pushover……Agreed, I was holding out that both Spain and India are worth 4. Neither of them should be 1 that’s for sure, and it would be very Larry like to have Spain be that high to deter an invasion.

I would also think that an invasion of Spanish Morocco would activate the 8 Spanish units in Spain, and it also looks like Balearic Islands (I think that’s right name) are playable as well. I can see a Spanish marker between the French ships in sz16.There are some new postings of the map in this the link below that will straighten this up. IL has more in the next few posts very cool!

Good to see that Spain isn’t a pushover. Invading Spanish Morocco or the Balearic Islands activates the 8 unit army and it goes immediately to one of the CP (undoubtedly Germany) so
no one is going to touch Spain, Switzerland on the other hand…
Agreed, I was baffled when I saw that Spain was worth only 1 even with their continued collapse since France’s invasion in 1808. If Spain only gets 2 units then France will get 2 IPC’s
essentially for free (Spain & Spanish Morocco). I don’t know how industrialized Spain was but I think its safe to state that Spain was more industrialized than Serbia or ANYWHERE in Africa so
why is it worth less than Serbia or worth the same as its colony? I hope Spain is worth 4 and not 1
Britain would have declared war with or without the invasion of Belgium. There’s no way Britain would remain neutral in a war on this scale.
I feel like if Italy is on the CP then France is completely boned but I’ll have to play a few games to see, France just has such a small army to start off with compared to Germany and Austria-Hungary. Hell they make Austria-Hungary look like it was in a golden age during the New Imperialism era.
I think Germany could make Africa to be much more than just a small time IPC grab. If Germany were to group its forces in either Belgian Congo or Angola it would become a set back for the Allies. France certainly wouldn’t have enough forces to make any feasible attack so Britain’s Egyptian stack is now wedged between the Ottomans and the Germans, unable to attack one as the other would come in from behind and attack, forcing the Egyptian army to wait till reinforcements from India can arrive in order to do both. This could delay the fall of the Ottoman Empire for a turn or 2 giving Germany & Austria-Hungary time to deal with the continental Allied Powers without worrying about the Balkan front getting reopened
I sure hope the Germans can enter SZ1. The Americans let German freighter subs into their ports even after the Lusitania sank. Hell they even threw a parade for the crew of the Deutschland.
I can’t tell if the French are wearing kepi’s or the Adrian helmet. I assume the Adrian because the Italians are wearing them.

Lots of questions regarding minor powers. What happens to the Colonies of Minor Powers (Belgium, Portugal and Spain) when they get invaded or when the capital territory gets invaded? Do
their other territories automatically get turned over to their allies control or do their allies still have to send a unit to said territory? Also if a true neutral gets invaded do they automatically
go into their allies economy? For example:Germany invades Holland, Allies decide Britain gets to be their ally so Dutch Army is represented with British pieces but the Dutch kill all the German
units in the same move. Does Holland’s IPC value now count toward Britain’s economy and if so does this also apply to pre-allied neutrals such as Serbia and Belgium? If an allied neutral
gets conquered then liberated by a different player of the same alliance does that neutral go back to its original ally’s control or does it go to the new liberator? Example: Austria-Hungary
conquers Serbia on its first turn but Italy liberates it on Italy’s second turn with the Albanian army. Does Serbia now count towards Italy’s economy, does it go back to Russia or does
something else happen?
How fast would FedEx ground be from Florida (CSI) to Evanston, Wyoming (1 hour from Salt Lake City)? I need to know if it can make it in time to my house before Spring break ends (March 24) or if I should just ship it to my dorm.
It will need some serious play testing other wise I’m pretty sure France doesn’t stand a chance given that Germany starts off with 63 Infantry and 23 artillery, Germany might have to lose units or France gets more. Also Russia’s railway system wasn’t that developed which is why Nicholas couldn’t call off mobilization even if he wanted too.
Agreed, definitely not worth the effort, take away at maximum 4 IPC from the Allies 1 time but add 20 for them for the rest of the game
