I have heard of this and even briefly played the open Beta test. It was not for me.

First off I’m only recently into shooters having been in the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta and MAG was not new guy friendly. BC2 was instantly fun to me. I got killed a lot but I felt like I was improving rapidly and did pretty well driving or gunning in a tank and despite feeling a bit out of my depth I was having fun.

MAG was not instantly fun and I’m still not quite sure what our objectives were and I never seemed to make it very far in any direction before getting sniped.

I’m not saying it wasn’t any good, just not for me. It was much more ‘hardcore’ to me and if you aren’t with a group of guys that are working together it seems like the fun factor will go away pretty quickly. I thought it would be fun to get to be OIC of a big 128 man battle but given my skill level at shooters earning the credentials for that seemed out of reach.

As far as I could tell, the game looks good with decent graphics. The map was huge and the controls felt sharp enough. But it is certainly a team game. Had I been in a squad or something with some guys willing to show me the ropes or something I may not have bailed as quickly on it. I also really only got to play it one morning near the end of the test, so I no doubt didn’t get the best look at it.

I’m still considering picking it up but I have a little bit of a backlog of games and some projects needed attention and will be getting Bad Company 2 and God of War III come March so I don’t really have room for this.

      THEFANT

I have played A&A spring of 1942 ince 1992.  Just a simple game with a time period I like.  Now I have expanded in all the other expansions and minaitures.  I wasn’t sure on the miniatures.  There are some good games out there but A&A has it’s place in my heart.  Just my thought.  Don

Wow, demo, something like that is usually pretty much a game-ender, that’s for sure.

      What devastation!  Thanks for sharing.

I’ve also seen someone use an 8 bid to get another transport for this move.  He took UK but America took it back and since there was no pressure on Russia for a few turns the guy ended up loosing.

      Imperious LeaderI

You have been reading my rules it seems:

from optional rules page .9 ( in the AA50 House rules thread)

POW: During land combat a player may elect to surrender his forces that are defending. He may not roll on defense on the round he declares his intention of surrendering.

Each unit surrendering rolls one D6: 1-3= the player gets 1 IPC, roll 4-6= the player gets 2 IPC.

This income is placed in the player’s treasury for use on the next turn and is justified to represent soldiers who escaped the surrender and some usable equipment managed to get back. The unit is exchanged with an infantry unit and is now ‘captured’ by the attacking player and kept separately and technically these prisoners are held in the capital territory.

At times during the games player may “exchange “prisoners during your active turn. Units are exchanged at 1:1 basis and placed in a factory. If you capture an enemy capital that has some of your troops, you gain these once you capture the capital immediately.

every idea that is good has already been discovered.
