      @Krieghund:

      Well, that didn’t take long!

      I would’ve replied sooner, but I was in England on vacation.

      @Lynxes:

      As far as I know my two charts are correct when it comes the techs. The only uncertainties are the actual details of some of the techs, that I have put into parenthesis. That said, I wasn’t at GENCON

      It seems like ages since GenCon, but I can say with near certainty that Paratroopers should be included on List A.

      @Imperious:

      I see some pattern. I think each nation has only 2 bonus options: a 5 and 10 IPC bonus for each nation.

      I can say with confidence that the average number of conditions per country is around 3, with the US having 5 smaller ones.

      @squirecam:

      I’m pretty sure that is the case. If USSR has them, no bonus for Germany. If Germany has them, no bonus for USSR.

      Correct, there is definitely some overlap between objective territories. Plus the fact that you’ll want to deny your opponent his objectives, even if you don’t need them for a bonus yourself.

      @variant:

      The bonus conditions are just going to railroad the game. Every game will end up being played exactly the same way.

      I think it’s too early to tell. Presumably players will have to make decisions between which bonus to secure (e.g. does Italy use his planes to secure the Med, or to support the land war in Africa?). There should also be a conflict between securing your own bonus objectives, and denying your opponent his (e.g. does Germany reinforce Finland to block Russia’s bonus, or focus on capturing the Baltic States for his own bonus?).

      I see the potential for lots of variety, in theory.

      @Lynxes:

      So, Larry, that old sneaky guy, first said “no convoy zones” making all of us a bit annoyed and then got it back as well as Lend-lease in another way with the Archangelsk bonus, smart…  :wink:

      Yes, it seems like the bonus conditions achieve several goals more elegantly than before. I really like the incentive to not stack up Allied troops in Russia.

      The only thing I worry about is the effective requirement for players to know their opponents’ bonus conditions, in addition to their own. This might steepen the learning curve for new players. But I’m sure after two games, us A&A veterans will have every condition burned indellibly into our memories.

      @Lynxes:

      Germany

      Poland+Czech-Hungary+Bulgaria-Roumania= 5 IPCs
      Baltic States+Belorussia+East Ukraine+Ukraine= 5 IPCs

      I believe at least one of these is worth 10 bonus IPC (possibly both).

      @Lynxes:

      So, let’s list the bonuses, and please feel free to edit as I’m only quoting and adding up:

      I wish I’d spent more time memorizing these, but I’m pretty sure Russia also receives bonuses similar to Germany’s in Eastern Europe (possibly Finland, Baltic States, Ukraine).

      The US has 4 (maybe even 5) small bonus conditions, one of which involves controlling France. I forget the others.

      The UK receives at least one bonus for controlling key sea zones, but I forget which ones.

      Sorry I can’t be of more help.

      @Lynxes:

      I assume these bonuses represents more morale than resources which are well represented by territory values!

      They could also represent control of vital shipping/transport lanes.

    • RE: Anniversary Edition at Gen Con?

      @LT04:

      With this new bomber rule I think I may bring back the old Paratrooper house rule.  I only say that b/c I may buy bombers now.

      Paratroopers are one of the Chart A techs now. Chart A deals with infantry, armour and artillery-based techs, and Chart B deals with naval and air-based techs. This allows, for example, Russia to roll for weapon developments without risking naval ones that it can’t use.

      @Craig:

      You get the country-specific bonuses at the same time you collect your normal IPCs- the end of your turn.

      Thanks for clarifying that, I barely skimmed the rulebook at Gencon.

      One thing I noticed though: some special objectives seem much easier to hold than others, effectively making them part of the country’s regular income. For example, Germany has one objective that requires holding Austria-Hungary, the Balkans and Romania (I think) and another that requires holding the Baltic States, Ukraine and another territory near Moscow. The first shouldn’t be difficult for Germany to cash in every turn, while the second will be a real challenge to hold.

      I’ll be curious to see how the objectives play out in the '41 vs '42 setup, since they’re the same in both scenarios.

      @Imperious:

      Yes but these 10 IPC are double her IPC capacity…

      If Germany keeps her sphere of influence does she get 30 More ipc?

      So the question is how many IPC is the bonus for each nation?

      I guess we can figure out where the bonus is, just how much is the question.

      Probably why Japan wont need to attack Russia, but rather keep its IPC bonus intact

      I don’t think any individual objective is worth more than 10 IPCs, and I believe they’re all calculated at the end of the turn, so the opponent has a chance to capture territories before they pay out. Once a side starts gaining multiple objectives, the extra income should generate a snowball effect making the endgame play out quickly (which is good, in my opinion).

      In retrospect, I think the Italy condition involves Libya, Egypt and East Africa, since Germany controls Algeria.

      A couple of the special objectives require control of sea zones.

      Probably the biggest addition is the introduction of Special Objectives for each country. For example, Italy receives a 10 IPC bonus for holding Libya, Algeria and Egypt (I think). Russia receives 5 IPC for every turn it holds Archangel and no other Allied units are stationed on Russian soil.

      I don’t recall all the specifics, but there are 3-4 Special Objectives for each country.

      OK, subs at ‘1’ defence, makes sense. When I look closer at the map, I see it as well. Is the rest correct?

      AA-gun        5/1/-/1

      I’m just going on memory here, but I think AA guns cost 6 IPC now.

      Submarine   6/2/2/2

      Well with subs at 6IPC’s who whould want to use those expensive transports as fodder?

      Subs are actually attack 2, defense 1 now, so the lower cost reflects that, I think.
