    • Carrier Movement Question

      Sorry if this question has been asked before but I just was not able to locate any applicable threads.  In order for a fighter to have a place to land after combat, a CV must move in order to pick it up.  Suppose that fighter is destroyed during combat…is the CV still required to move??

      Thanks for any help offered.

    • RE: Sub question

      Thanks all for the quick answers!!  Just a point of clarity, I assume that the sub must fight or flee on HIS (the US) combat turn and NOT Japan’s.

    • RE: Sub question

      Here’s a question for a similar situation:

      The US has a fleet in SZ6 that includes a sub (no Japanese sea units).  Japan attacks the US fleet with planes only and the sub submerges.  Japan wins the battle.  Japan’s purchased units include 3 destroyers that are placed in SZ6 with the ‘submerged sub.’  On the ensuing US turn, what are the options for the sub?  The Rules, in the Sea Units Starting in Hostile Sea Zones section do not address subs and transports.  We play the following:

      On the US turn the following options are available:

      1.  Stay and let Japan attack on their next conduct combat turn if they so choose, or
      2.  Move to another SZ, or
      3.  Attack the destroyers.

      Is that correct???
      Thanks!

    • RE: P-40 Flying Tigers

      I use the P-40 from Brookhurst Hobbies (6 for $3.28):

      It looks pretty good when spray painted olive drab green.

      For a slightly larger plane, you can use the SBD Dauntless:

    • RE: Online rulebook?

      One of the fellows in our war gaming group has scanned the Rule Book and converted/combined the graphic files into a PDF file.  During the conversion some resolution was lost but it is readable and the size is manageable at 5 MB.  I have put it on a server I have access to for anyone that wants a copy.  This should suffice until an ‘official’ on-line Rule Book is provided:

      What’s the best way to have these made?  Printing or having them made

      I wanted to ask the exact same thing. Are you just printing them on card stock or should I take the files to kinko’s and get it done that way? It seems like someone was talking about this in another thread…any input on what’s working for you is much appreciated.

      Thanks for your work Bob, looks great.

      I took the Battle Board and National Production Income files to FedEx Kinko’s Office.  They printed them out and laminated them on a piece of white foam board.  The cost is a little pricey, ~$15.00, but they look fantastic and I don’t have to do the work.  The rest of the files, I am just going to have laminated with rigid plastic as they don’t have to be so thick.  I respect those of you who do them yourself as they look great but I have enough “scratch building” to do with my HO model railroad.

    • RE: AAP40 FAQ

      @LuckyDay:

      So if the US blockades the SZs around Hawaii then Japan would have to fight in those SZ’s a space away from Hawaii on one turn before next turn moving to the Hawaii SZ?

      @Krieghund:

      True, unless the Japanese ships begin the turn in one of those sea zones.

      Sorry to ask for a clarification but this situation has come up more than once:

      During the non-combat phase, an opposing power moves into a SZ occupied by the ships from a neutral country.  The next turn, the opposing power declares war on the neutral country with the intent to attack it’s mainland during the combat phase.  Do they have to attack the ships in the co-occupied SZ or can they go right to the land battle w/bombardment?

      It would appear from your answer above that the attacker would be able to go straight to its objective, thereby avoiding the sea battle.

    • RE: New Battle Strip

      Got my Battle Strip and the 6 tactical bombers today along with a very nice letter from ‘Sam’ at WOTC.  An interesting sentence in the letter reads: “……While the game is only supposed to have 3 more Japanese tactical bombers than what you originally received, we’re tossing in an extra 3 because of the delay you had to experience…”  So, it looks like it was originally a packaging error rather than an analytical error.(?)

    • RE: New National Production & National Objectives Chart

      Bob,

      On another note, is it possible (and fairly easy) for you to make a shorter setup chart without the Unit information?  All we need is the country setup information on a smaller card.  Thanks.

      I have already had the Battle Board and National Production Chart mounted and laminated and they are dynamic!  I intend on doing the same with the Setup Charts.  Thanks, Bob, for all your hard and devoted work.

    • RE: Hate the cardboard factory/airfield/naval base counters? ANSWER INSIDE!

      @Variable:

      Yep, I’d have to say I like 'em. Still too much money though……

      I agree about the $$. Also, I looked at how many were needed to setup AAP40, estimated the need for AAE40, and realized that I have to buy two more bags of the airfield and one more of the naval base.  Oh well, in the long run they’re worth it because I am trying to build the DELUXE version that I thought I had originally bought for $80.   :-(

      The custom markers arrived today and I’m really happy with them  They are the same size as the original cardboard ones but have a thickness of about 2.5 mm.  Hoorah!..…I can now pick them up.  I have posted a pick, of questionable quality, of them below along with the originals.

    • RE: New National Production & National Objectives Chart

      Bob, the battle board is stunning!!  Is Causality (an actual word in Physics and relates to cause & affect) going to be changed to Casualty (a person who is killed or injured)?  If so, I will wait until you post the corrected file before I have it laminated.  Thanks again for an excellent piece of work.

      EDIT - SORRY, this got posted AFTER Bob’s post.

      @Bob_A_Mickelson:

      The battle board that you mentioned was created by another person, not me.  I do plan on making full battle board complete with icon images of the units shortly. If you cannot wait for my version here is a link to bcguitars’ battleboard and other stuff he created

      Thanks, Bob!  I just wanted it to show our A&A Group.
