      @knp7765:

      Another idea just occurred to me regarding Amerika and the plastic miniatures. If I am understanding toblerone77 correctly, he is supposing that if you actually had the plastic battle pieces on hand, that the game itself might be a more sellable product.
      Of course, you guys can’t afford to put out the expense of getting the plastic battle pieces until the game is actually funded. As I recall, a MINIMUM order of plastic miniatures like these would be at least 1000 sets to make it worthwhile for the factory to make them. And there is the cost of the molds themselves to add into this expense. And if the game funding was not successful, then HBG is sitting there with this HUGE expense laid out and no game sales to recoup their loss.

      So, one idea would be to go ahead with the plastic battle pieces as their own product. You could even take pre-orders for sets to ease the cost on your end. You know a lot of people will be wanting these pieces and a lot will be wanting extras for their own games even after Amerika comes out. You would still have plenty of sets to fill the actual games and when you present your game for funding, you already have the actual playing pieces on hand to show. Also, with the battle pieces made beforehand, the actual rest of the game would be a little cheaper for you to complete.

      I don’t know if I’m missing anything here. I’ve never tried to market a game like this. Just wanted to throw it out there.

      Your numbers are way low, HBG puts out $10,000 for one mold with sculpting and Production. With 3 molds it goes to $30,000. We do not make money to pay for our items on pre-orders, it does help us get started but not until we have sold quite a number of sets do we actually break even. I appreciate all the enthusiasm for the game, I hope we can raise the money on KS in a few days.

      Any word on the Amerika Kickstarter project?

      Since we got so close last time, Coach and I are really crossing T’s and dotting I’s to make sure this campaign is solid. Map and charts have been done for a while now. Rules are basically done and laid out until we go to final production. These are going to be made available for free this time around. We’re finishing up a few graphics for the KS page to make sure there is no confusing items this time and then we’ll be ready to go. Don’t worry, we will tell our faithful followers here first so you get it in at the beginning. Thank you all for your continued interest in the game. It’s been tons of fun showing it off at 'Cons and getting feedback and comments. Having about 50 people play it at GenCon was really cool!

      Just my opinion, I know you guys aren’t able to have all the new sculpts produced at once. However it might be nice if you guys had a full demo kit for Kick Starter using 3d printed sculpts. It really gives the investors a better idea of what the finished project will look like.

      I would buy this game for the sculpts alone. I think Amerika is a great idea.

      We have considered this but there are two problems. 3D printing will print out exactly how the 3D model is made but 3D printing is not great at the scale of our pieces so you will not get a true representation of the pieces. We plan on displaying the models so that they rotate in an animated gif format to better give you a better idea of the model.

      @Imperious:

      WOW!! these options are really something…

      BUT i would rather HBG spend money to just redo the map by a professional artist.

      WHY?  because the aesthetic of all these new pieces and in some cases painted, makes the map look amateurish. Instead of more pieces spend $1,500 and have the map redone like a standard AA style map. It is really worth the investment and now the pieces and new map look Ike they belong together.

      I would love to see what this Zombie thing is about…

      Map is being redone for a Fall 2014 release.

      The Global 1939 map on the website is the latest and greatest. We are working on a 1936 Global Map but it will have setups for 1939 and 1942.
      It will be quite different from this version which is still a great game.

      You are welcome and thank you for the compliments. We are needing to generate some pre-order monies for the Expansion set and we are throwing in a Japanese Jet at last minute. All pre-order sets will get a free Japanese Kikka jet fighter for every pack they pre-order. I will have a picture of the model next week.

      @toblerone77:

      JUST CAME IN THE MAIL!!! THANK YOU HBG!!!

      First, the pieces look fantastic.

      Secondly, and just IMO, for you guys out there that have MB Classic pieces, you know that the figures are a bit darker than the vehicle units. The HBG yellow gold color kind of bridges the gap between the two colors. You could easily make a new nation or have an elite branch of military with your old and new units.
      It’s hard to justify with photos but I swear the colors meld enough that it’s not much different than some of the color variation that you get between say AAG40.1 and AAG40.2. For a ten buck gamble you can’t loose.

      Third, for anyone still on the fence these pieces look great just to flavor your F2F games. You don’t have make variants or special rules for these if you don’t want too. They’re just plain nice. They look better than OOB and for people who got short changed by WOTC in the past, these will fill your ranks of MIA units nicely.

      Fourth. If you like the last sets that have come out these are even better.

      Last. HBG you guys did awesome! These were soooo worth any waiting. Thank you.

      P.S.Thanks for the extra bits and the coaster. It will hold a frosty beverage nicely as I rearrange my “tackle boxes” to make homes for my new stuff.

      Got my tracking info today. YAY! Will probably get them Friday. Can’t wait to see them all.

      Hoping for a Friday delivery myself. Really hoping for the day when we can get single units too!

      What units are you looking for?

      Fuso is a Early war Battleship and is the same length as Nevada and Holstein. The next set will have the Nagato and will be the same size as regular Battleships. We felt all nations need a smaller BB to denote Early war Battleships, then regular Battleships, and Heavy such as the Yamato in the next set.

      @Pacific:

      Any word on a shipping date yet?

      On HBG, they still have an approximate date of Sept. 30. Also, HBG is doing inventory this week so no orders are being shipped between the 21st and 29th.
      Assuming they get them on the 30th and everything is good, it will probably be a few days for Coach to fill all the pre-orders. I would imagine he has a lot since we all seem to be chomping at the bit to get these new Japanese units.

      My factory is killing me, still about 2 weeks away, sorry guys.

      @Pacific:

      How many games will $33,000 produce?

      The $33,000 does not cover all the expense but we will produce 1,500 games which is the minimum run for most manufacturers.

      @ch0senfktard:

      Think there could be pictures of the actual minis?
      Seeing the models is cool, but wouldn’t pictures of the actual pieces be more enticing to people?

      This is a huge expense for a game that may not be produced.

    • RE: Are the Italians for the 1st edition the same color as the 2nd edition?

      @CWO:

      In Anniversary and in Europe 1940 1st edition, the Italian equipment pieces are a darker shade of brown than the Italian infantry pieces.  In Europe 1940 2nd edition, the equipment pieces are lighter and match the shade of the Italian troops.

      I agree
