    • RE: A Beginner is confused…

all units can take part in an attack on one territory, but not more. but the units can attack as many times as you want, as long as it stays alive.

eg Brits attack germany in Lybia with 1 tank, 2 infantry, 1 fighter. germany defend with 2 infantry.

brits infantry goes first: one hit, one miss

      brit tank: miss.

      fighter misses, too.

Germany shoots back: both infantry hit, germany then removes casulty and brits, too (2 infantry).

Brits decide to go again as they go enough units. tank hits, so does fighter.

      germany shoots back, misses.

all germans are wiped, brits take that territory and the battle is over. tank moves in, fighter must land some other territory.

      hope this makes sense,

      Hans

    • RE: Affirmative Action

      Moses,

the UK, Germany explains itself this way. I am originally from germany, but i live in the Uk now to go to University. but i still go back in the holidays to see parents. so that why the two of them.

      Waraxis,

i agree with you that money alone wont fix the problem. i was just focusing on what the state can do to provide the best environment for kids to develop themselves. how to sort parents out not to mess their kids up is a very difficult question, and the one that actually defines a kid most likely future. so thenthe question is, what is a fit parent and should everyone have kids? (like drug addicts etc)

    • RE: Affirmative Action

Affirmative action, hmmm, nice idea: with a quick law we fix a misrepresentation in societies. Shame it doesnt work that way, because for society to benefit, the principle ‘the best people in the right positions’ cannot be put out of action.

I think what we are lacking is some trust. if some ethnicity is misrepresented we should be confident that this is only because a fair selection process has come to the conclusion this is the best people for the right job at the moment. So the real question is: how can we be confident?

We wont fix this problem with affirmative action laws, but by putting loads of money into schools, so that all students are educated to a roughly equal standard. and by this i dont mean the lowest common denominater. if access the the best schools is fair and open, and all students are in a position to show their best. that is the best way to bring social justice and realise equal opportunities.

      in my mind at least.

    • RE: This game is completely unbalanced!!!!

I agree with Sherman. Also, with the extra cash at the beginning you could build a transport and then use your battle ship for various amphibious landings. This is probably scaring the Brits into massing their forces into one middle east country. Despite this, they should be easy to take out with further reinforcements from Greece and a fighter.

Think about the extra income through the oil states and the prospect of distracting the Russian player with some Germans threating Stalingrad from the oil states.

    • RE: Germany invading Britain strategies?

i dont think there is much room in Germany’s IPC income to attack and overcome Britain and Russia at the same time.

If you dont decicively strick the Russians, the will get too strong too quickly and then also use their reserves to assist Britain. As Russia is the biggest immediate threat it should be dealt with first in my opinion.

With Russia more or less out of the game, you can then focus your attention on further draining Britain’s resources by continuous SBR. If you also can deny convoys, the British should be pretty weak, as the Americans will focus on building a large naval force to try to keep the convoys open.

If you take Russia out in ideally 3 goes, Britain should really be ripe by go 5. Hopefully…

    • RE: This game is completely unbalanced!!!!

      Hi all,

I would also agree that the the Allies have to work quite hard to keep Germany down.

      1. The US has very little units and can only in turn 2 do direct damage on germany with fighters.

      2. Germany can take out various convoy zones rather easily.

      3. Germany can easily destroy the British fleet.

      4. As there is no immediate land threat most units can be directed to surgecally slice Russia into little bits.

However, the longer the game lasts the better for the Allies. Germany needs to capture Russia quickly and in the process do great damage to the Britain for the final showdown with the US.

    • RE: Should white people feel guility?

      Hi all,

all i can say is that i am a bit torn: my dad’s portuguese and my mom german.

so should i feel guilty for that my portuguese country men sold slaves and forces them into labor; or rather more for my german side where people sharing the same nationality as my might have been involved in nasty things?

my answer is: I dont, I dont have to, I should not and nobody in the right might should try to make me or others.

if you look at history, all of our contries are guilty of some things in the past. Whether it is assembling the greatest empires in the world (britain, italy, russia, etc) or treating their fellow people with the most outright disgust (too many to mention).

Coz the point is we have got a lot of problems to tackle: worldwide unemployment, AIDS research, progress of democracy, prmotion of individual rights, etc. And all of this needs to be solved every day to secure our future. We will not tackle these issues successfully if we keep debating who is evil and guilty of every thing and some things.

We, the young today, have a responsibility to look at history and learn from our (as man, not as members of a nationality) mistakes, and through this way come closer to achieving some of the goals outlined above. But nobody can expect us to be guilty or accountable of crimes that were committed by people supposedly in our name.

Therfore, lets always be opne and let reason prevail. We have got a lot to do!

      Bye for now,

      Hans

    • Amphibious Assault ques.

      Hi all,

lets say my cool German navy makes an amphibious assault into Lybia, but a nasty British destroyer has to be cleared first. The British destroyer gets sunk and the sea field is clear now. Is my transport (as it was involved in the battle) allowed to go ahead with the landing or does it have to wait until the next turn?

      thanks a lot,

      Hans

    • RE: Why no Italy???

      Hi all,

i think that if Italy was to be included, it actually should be quite powerful, though considerably weaker than Germany.

at least the navy, if not the air force and land units. the italians actually had quite modern battle ships and destroyers at the time, so that would actually better represent the circumsatnces at the time.

the Italians were just very poorly led and made too many strategic mistakes.

      Laters,

      Hans
