      we just got really lucky in china.  i need to pause and ask if you would like to use your low luck reroll.   but more importantly, i would like to ask if hank and love would like to continue the game after Larry’s (in my opinion flawed) victory condition rules give them the technical victory.   :-)

      Wow that battle indeed was insane.
      Not only did you score significantly less hits than usual, I also hit more than usual. I really feel you here, bro - you just can’t believe it when you see these dice.

      Which other battle has been diced, though? I can’t remember, this game is so long g

      Japan got smoked 2 or 3 times trying to kill the Russians. Not a huge deal but it allowed ANZAC to get huge and ultimately kept Japan from becoming a monster (see all of my other games when I’m the axis).

      Also, the first time I took Moscow I should have kept enough units to keep you at bay but rolled way under like I just did.

      Taken individually, none of these were huge deals, but collectively they set me back on both sides. Add to that a fairly error free game on your part then we get to where we currently are.

      I really thought, you might have intentionally dragged this game so that it counts for 2014. Maybe so that your PPG for this year doesnt drop or something. Cause I would have conceded something like 10 turns ago in your shoes :-)

      Nah, I think I will probably take a break after the deadline so I would like this one to end before then. I have 4 games on the go right now and will probably concede at least half of them - I don’t really care if I make it into the finals, but I should have the win% to stay in.

      To be honest, I figured this game was over once you retook London - I thought I could take it back but miscalculated. For then on, I have kept playing in part to see what I could do to get out of a difficult situation and also because I wanted you to get the win clean.

      All in all a fun game. I started 3 other games around the same time as this one, all as the axis. I tried different strategies for all of them. Let’s just say the other two ended quite a while ago :)

      I will try to get Japan out quickly tomorrow and hopefully we will have enough time for you to take Berlin before the deadline (I am happy to give you that option if we don’t make the deadline, but I will concede before so the win counts for this year).

      Story of my life in this game. Every time I have a significant battle against the Russians I get my ass handed to me!

      (Don’t take this as me complaining about the dice - you are clearly winning this game and if things don’t drastically change by the 31st I will certainly declare you the winner).

      I find it ironic/humorous that you make this statement the round before this game ends. Complaining about the victory cities is like complaining about the distance between bases in MLB. It is the game. Adjust, adapt and overcome or play t-ball instead (Risk?).

      Bold, please be as humble on here as you are in your PMs to us. You and Dutch have played an incredible game. As I mentioned to Dutch last week, it is a shame that there are pages and pages of drivel on this thread that has taken away from a truly outstanding game, one that I am sure many spectators have learned from. Making excuses and blaming the basic structure of the game cheapens how well you have played and it cheapens your partner by association. Please don’t do it.

      This kind of talk is also fairly insulting to us. While I give my partner far more credit for our success than I will take, I will say we work very hard to plan moves and develop long term and short term strategies. I realize that I am very fortunate to have arguably the best player on this site as a partner and I will say any skill that have comes from years of having my a** handed to me playing him on my kitchen table. That being said, we are where we are in this game and in this tournament, not because of luck or some sort of inherent structural problem with the game, but rather because of solid game play and excellent team work. To say otherwise is insulting and incredibly misleading.

      I came up with something quite awhile back that tied any attack on Spain (true neutral or opposing neutral)triggering the europe, south america, and africa block, and tied attacking Turkey similarly into the middle east, africa and europe block.  Everything else is in its own block and only influences that block.   
      In that way if germany attacks Sweden only it invites the allies to walk into Spain or Turkey without penalty which isn’t wise.

      This is brilliant.  I like this a lot.
      I initially went to every neutral on its own because I don’t think Spain, Sweden, and Turkey should be tied together.  I’m sure this would just give the Axis the great incentive to invade all 3 of them almost every game.
      But tying Spain to South America and Turkey to Middle East is brilliant.

      Agreed. I like that there is some strong incentive for the axis to attack, but still some incentive to keep them neutral. It also avoids the ridiculous situations like the ones I noted before.

      Maybe I didn’t say this, but I’ve been thinking it.  To compensate for every neutral standing on its own, each neutral could be given a slightly larger standing army.  If the Axis want to attack Turkey’s 10 infanty or Spain’s 8 to gain control, I think they’ve paid an appropriate price.

      I’m coming a bit late to this it seems, and I apologize if you have already discussed this.

      A house rule AWN and I use for the neutrals is to treat them as regional allies. This means that if Spain is attacked, only European neutrals becoming friendly to the non-aggressor but everyone else stays true neutral.

      That way you don’t get silly situations like Afghanistan going to war because the US invaded Portugal. (I have yet to see any rationale for Argentina going to war because someone invaded Mongolia :))
