In some of our home games we have used Seancb’s event card house rule (some changes) and we quite like the randomness which changes each game we use them in.
As for Spain, if your adding it as an Axis friendly ally it definitely needs to be beefed up to stave off the coming onslaught from the US. Or if just to give Spain time for Germany/Italy to send reinforcements.

Here are a couple of pics of the table my son (16) and I built last spring. For years we have had a table top on an air hockey table, however I had a custom map printed which is larger than that table. So after looking at some tables we came up with this one and built it a little larger to accommodate the Global War map from HBG. Table is 4’ X 10’ overall.
We wanted the shelves under the table top for storage (unit trays and such) to free up table space and space around the table. Dice trays on each end and some extra space for all the “extras” you need to play Global 40, 41 & 42!
I really like the concept of the USA replacing the Chinese Flying Tiger fighter for 12 IPCs. Once that fighter is gone, China is pretty much done.
I just ordered the 8d and will try out your new values with the next home game and see how it goes. Might need to print out a temporary battle board to keep everyone in line. Lots to think about here!
That is quite a varied list of house rules.
I like transports defending @ 1. No attack value though.
Scrambling planes and USA neutral rules should remain like OOB as well.
USA coming in whenever they want (always turn 1 I would suppose) gives the allies an advantage I would agree.
I’ve played some games where we roll for a free tech which seems like a good way to get tech into the game. I’m a fan of this idea.

I ordered mine from Amazon and they arrived in perfect condition. I haven’t seen any warping of the map boards as of yet so I’ll keep an eye on that.
The 1914 game I purchased has warping boards and it is most annoying. Downloaded IL’s 1914 map file and had it printed so I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Hope I don’t have to do that with the Anniversary game (Who am I kidding, I’ll probably get a map printed anyway).
As the Japan player I have experienced “the professor” using the USA to take Iwo Jima and loading it up to reduce me to ashes. It is less than fun!

I like the addition on 1 IPC per territory for oil. The rate of return is steep though, taking three turns just to break even. Just a thought.

The cost seems a bit high at 9 IPC’s when a better, more versatile unit is available for 10.
Also, since a sub can not attack/defend against aircraft, if a seaplane attacks a sub by itself that would basically be an auto kill. Â Unless the seaplane is limited to one round of combat. Â If it can’t kill the sub on the first pass then the sub gets to submerge.
I like the idea of a seaplane. Â Especially if there were more uses for it.
DK, any chance you have a complete map file with France split in two (other changes as well)?
I was contemplating printing this map, however after seeing your change and your reason for the change I would want to have that incorporated into this map.
We have a G40 game tomorrow and we will be adding Flagships, Entrenchment chips and the Variable set up concept. Should be fun!

Yes, DK’s video give his ideas for this rule which make sense to me for this game format. Could even be the admiral piece if you want to look at it that way.
Actual flagships were several different types of vessels altogether and did change during engagements due to damage as in the Midway example.
