Just my luck as I just started getting into the game. I have not found anybody to play in my area with the physical minis yet.
What area?

Well … I’m glad it still be played here online at least. I don’t really feel motivated to go and buy anymore booster packs unless it picks back up.
It’s DEAD, just a matter of time before they stop making new sets. Good news is after the next two confirmed sets, they’ll probably cover most WWII units anyway
Great teamwork!!! I guess I’m too stupid to help. I’ll just cheer from the sideline
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
When were complete I’ll be inviting players from some other site over to play here….
please supply some figures… is this a real expensive hobby?
I’ve spent about $1k+ BUT DK (plays online with us) spent $0 ZERO dollars and he plays as much as I do. Just go to Avalon Hill’s web site. Download the rules and stat cards and you’re ready to play with us online. No need to own anything to play online and it’s just as much fun. We’re here to help if you need directions.
We need to complete map view with ALL the units and invite players from other sites to come over an play. Our Online play w/mapview and our dice server appear to be far better than any one else.
When the first three sets were released, we had tournaments every Sat night in the local game shop. Also, Nuetral Ground (shop in Manhatan) had games every monday night. The number of players slowly started to dwindle. Now, both have completed stopped and the players disappeared. I know a couple of them sold thier sets on ebay.
That said if the game can live in Manhatan of all places, it’s DEAD excpect for a bunch of small local groups and the online players. I know there’s a large group that plays in upstate NY but it’s far from me. Other than this group I don’t see much else going on… ever.
I’m wondering how much of a showing there was at the Spring Gathering. It looks like they had a big turnout for A&A but not the minis.

Can someone set up the map for this scenario… very cool!!!
Sure Half-Track. You can never have enough scenarios where Leathernecks get to hook and jab with the Imperial Japanese. Bare in mind that this is coming from a retired Marine!
Cool glad your playing. How many years of service?
Higgins boats are a waste but I picked up around 5 Amtracks from ebay under seperate auctions. Paid less than $4 each w/shipping included. Check it out.

I’ve got a lot of unit images from the gang…I’m just really busy with the long weekend, work etc.
I guess the next step to speed things is to have someone start putting together the XML for me too
Get to work DK.
Nebelwerfer
M-10
M7 105mm Priest
M1 81mm Motor
P-51d Mustang
P-40 Tomahawk
F4u Corsair
Lockheed P-38g Lightning
get to work DK
Ive played a lot of games with overwatch (Mordheim, Necromunda) and while it is a cool and realistic feature, it really slows down the game, and would REALLY slow down a PBEM game, with more opportunities to interrupt the flow of the game in order to ask “do you want to shoot THIS target with overwatch?”
Kinda like drawing out defensive fire shots in order to clear the way for another unit, except now it happens even MORE often.
I see your pnt
Consider yourself lucky you joined late. Alot of if shelled out the bucks from the beginning, only to find we have to re-purchase the same units in the new scale.
Dont get me wrong, its a fun game and even with different sizes its not too bad unless you play BOTH sizes of a unit within the same game. (Meaning, playing the small and large stugs at the same tiem). But I’m anal, you may not mind at all. There are a LOT of really great units in the first 1 thru 5 sets and it’ll be years (if ever for some) before the re-release them all. Plus soldiers and aircraft are the same through all sets.
I vacilate between continuing collection, sitting tight with what I’ve got, and selling the whole lot. Its frustrating. Personally even though I’m still collecting and trying to get the odd unit I need to complete all the sets, If I got a fair offer on the whole collection I’d consider it. WotC really stuck it to us early-adopters.
Mot
what’s the missing unit(s)
Mot, what’s up with that new terrain that DK sent you… looks like two big mountains with a forest and old faithfull in the middle.
Sounds liketime to switch it up. Besides, one of the best ways to know your enemy is to wargame from their perspective!
Audacity
I guess than I’d have to kill all my units to get that perspective :-D
Your asked for it… don’t say I didn’t warn ya
Bring it on… next game I bring in my English allies…
The types of changes they contemplating are along the lines of:
Player: “It doesn’t make sense that a Mortar unit can try to attack an aircraft. Realistacally, that would be impossible”
WotC: “New rule, artillery-type units cannot target Aircraft unless they have the Anti-Air ability”Player: “In WWII, sniper-vs-sniper happened, I saw it in Enemy at the Gates”
WotC: “New rule, units with superior camoflage can target other units with superior camoflage”Player: “These new 3 inch map hexes are really big, and my soldier looks lonely in there.”
WotC: “New rule, you can now have three units per hex instead of two.”Lather, Rinse, Repeat…
This can get carried away really fast and turn an 8-page rule book into an an 8-page rule book w/ a 32 page appendix. :x
The rules make sense now although some of the aircraft rules could be improved. They didn’t account for this because the first two sets had no aircraft. Like the problem we’ll have soon on the Chalenge game, hull mounted cannon firing on an aircraft, never could happen.
I kind of like some of the expanded rules but they make things complicated. Overwatch is a good one. For you guys that don’t have the expanded rules, basically instead of moving during your movement phase or attacking during the attack phase you can declare up to two tanks or antitank guns on overwatch. You may not move or fire these units and they must be faced in one direction. If an enemy units moves in front of (that would mean just down the line of site, one row of hexes directly down the facing) you may attack that unit.
They work for me… can you add hex tiles? I’m not sure how it would work, when a unit is added the hex tile must stay in the background.
There’s a whole list of combat zone tiles, I had a bunch and they’re missing. Oh no, where the hell are they. LOST DAMN… anyway, do you know where you can find the list?
