    • RE: The official new rules

      @Motdc:

      It’s broken for all the reasons you described and I later exponded upon.

      If at the end of the phase a hex is overstacked, you must, in reverse order from how the unit entered, back them out until the hex is not overstacked.  And this includes reloading units onto transports that unloaded to relieve overstacking…

      Only aggression and unloading Large artilery units make it broken.  Otherwise I think it might work… there are a bunch of questions to answer though.  I listed some of them above.

      I don’t think players will overstack on purpose thus no need to remember all moves.  Players won’t overstack just for the sake of overstacking to prove a point.

      @Motdc:

      Here’s my post on the Wizard site…for what good it would do:

      http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=17006919&postcount=42

      I say make my suggested change and they drop just the change to the stacking resoltion rules.

      (They can keep 3 units-per-hex, I have no problems with that)

      Mot I’m not understanding anyone on the forum but you.  Are you saying they changed the stacking rules AGAIN because you said it’s broken.

      I also don’t see anything about units with aggression…

      Beyond that, the completely inadequate official support for this game

      Agreed.  Like I’ve said before, I like the game a lot but it’s been dead since set III

      Shemar, I wouldn’t look at things in this way.  The cards you have are playable, the game worked before and it was not broken.

      They came to a cross roads and were faced with a decision.  Do you continue to make new sets playable with the old sets knowing that improvements could be made to the old sets and in doing so you would not incorperate improvements to these new sets?

      What I feel they tried to do is fine tune the game pcs and rules to make more units usable and elimate the far superior units.  Also they attemped to make game play more realistic.

      Again the old cards are still good but the new cards and rules should improve things (I HOPE).  We’ve been through a similar circumstance once before when they resized the units.  I still use my old units, looks stupid but…

      Broken! units with aggression

      BA-10m  They can move before attacking.  Therefore move into an enemy tanks hex.  Is this a rear attack?

    • RE: The official new rules

      Attack Phase Question: I assume on the attack phase stacking is completed “after all movement and unit placement are finished” (as rules state) and also attacking???  Must we now move non attack units first, fix stacking and then attack last?

      Just some initial thoughts about tactics and problems…

      1. What comes first
      End of a players movement phase:  stacking or para deployment.
      It’s got to be para deployment because you’ll have a possible four freindly units in one hex.

      2. This works well for bonzai charge.  You can overstack the enemies hex with charges on your attack phase.  Move back overstacked units after your attack.

      3. It would be nice to advance a unit into an overstacked hex on your attack phase to replace a “soon to be dead” unit.  Too bad casualty is done after the overstacking is corrected.

      4. Movement can cause DF, what if that same unit overstacks the hex and has to move back, DF again?

    • RE: Second cover roll

      @d142:

      yeah, that make’s it easier to understand, if i’m 2 hex’es away the target has cover. another question come’s to mind, are there any restriction’s for line of sight when firing past friendly or enemy units.
      is the expert rulebook worth getting or is everything covered in the advanced rulebook,
      i have only played a few games of miniatures.

      Money is better spent on boosters to make complete armies.  This is the last thing to buy.

      It kinda sucked.  Made very poorly in black and white and hard to read the illustrations.  Basically same as the advanced rulebook + some extra confusing rules (Overwatch, Enfilade Fire, Grazing Fire) that are ok but too complicated.  Maps were good.  Formations (platoon card) can be downloaded.  Couple of scenarios.

      To answer your question, it wasn’t worth the money but I feel it’s a must have if your into the game.  You just can’t pass up on the maps and someday the expanded rules may spice up the games if they’re getting boring.  Like I said, make this the last priority of things to buy for this game.

    • New Rules/ Stacking Limits

      For those of us who are wondering how stacking will work now that some artillery are “large” here is the post from AH.

      When the rules update appears, one of the changes is a very simple tweak to the stacking rules; i.e., stacking limits will apply at the end of your movement phase rather than at the end of each individual unit’s move. If you think about the implications of that, it solves a lot of the oddities in the current rule, including loading and unloading of guns. (The rule itself is phrased more tightly than my general statement – and no, I’m not going to answer questions about it until the actual rules are released.)

      Steve

      To me it seems like a way to get extra movement from units.

      Example:  A large infrantry force is moving as a group in multiple hexes.  Front line gets disrupted, unit limit maxed out.  Typically this would leave you two chioces, go around or wait to move the other units.  You can now move all units into that hex, overstacking by any number of units, I say 6, which covers the hexes behind.  Drive a few more vehicles into that hex and you have a major overstacking and redeployment into adjacent hexes.  Upon redeployment consider that you can advance you infrantry another hex forward, vehicles also even if you used all of their movement.  Sounds and looks like checkers.

      We have had games where stacking rules were broken and redeployment was used to the overstackers advantage.  It was rare but considering these rules it would seem that now it would be very common.

      Mot am I making sense here?

    • RE: Card Changes

      Finally done printing all the stat cards.  Printed on card stock and in color.  Went though approx $40 in ink cartridges.  Paper was $15.

      Now I have to cut’em up and organize.  I feel like I should be getting a paycheck for this.

      What genius decided to only put four cargs on one sheet of paper when 9 could easily fit?  Stupid.

      @Motdc:

      HT and DK, you will be happy to know that units riding on the backs of tanks can now be targeted.

      DK, you’ll be happy to hear my 6 BAR build is now broken.

      Probablky means they were changed (updated)

      I figuired out the guntransport thing…the 251 and the M5 now have got Gun Transport in addition to Fighting Platform.  Makes the 250 even more irrelevent

      Mot it thought so to but its not like that either.  I’m wondering what that is?

      Sounds sort of like a confession, half track.  :roll: I just noticed another negative point. I wonder who thought that negative point would “make a point?” Weee!!   :-)

      According to M2A0, the new rules are finished. He said now it is just a matter of when the WotC guys will post on the website…. Should be up next week.

      Hey Ducky,

      Are you sure this M2A0 guy is part of WOTC and not some jerk pulling everyone’s chain.  How come he doesn’t have the “staff” title under his sign on.
