    • RE: 👋 Introduce or Re-Introduce Yourself (Current)

Hello all. I feel kinda awkward doing this so don’t judge me (at least not openly).

I live in Richmond, VA in the US. I’m somewhat of a history nerd/buff, I guess. I definitely wouldn’t say I’m an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I do enjoy reading books and articles about military history, equipment, and weapons. I’m still in High School - homeschooled, actually.

I was introduced to A&A 1941 some time ago by a friend (I believe I was 11?) and I absolutely loved it. As soon as I got home I ordered a copy for myself and tried playing with my family (they weren’t interested. shocker). For the most part, I actually have played against myself, meaning that I play as both the Allies and the Axis. However, I do occasionally play with the friend who first introduced me to the game in the first place. I’ve also had some success in persuading others to play with me.

As of late, though, I’ve been playing A&A 1940 Global, which I absolutely adore. I don’t add too many house rules except that I have tried combining the UK European and Pacific economies. I haven’t played a full game with that rule implemented, though, so I don’t know how balanced it is.

Anyways, Hola, mi amigos y amigas.

    • RE: In how many hours can you complete a G40 game

@The-Captain I don’t play with many others (mostly myself), but in the few times I have it has taken somewhere in the range of 25 hours to complete a game of OOB Global 1940.

It would probably be wise to mention however, that I play with one relatively inexperienced player and another hyper-control freak who take upwards of 30 minutes to complete his moves. We once played for 5 hours and hadn’t even finished the second round of play…

I have a long attention span, but - my gosh.

Sad to say I haven’t played any modified games with other, mostly myself. I hope this is at least a little helpful and I’m not just talking to talk. I appreciate your work with house rules - very good stuff.

@Galendae Brilliant Strategy! Well thought out, planned, and innovative. I appreciate the flexibility of the plan as well, which shows just how effective it is. I’ll try to use this in future games and see if I can use it as effectively as shown here. Thank you for posting this.

    • RE: Question Regarding Normandy/Bordeaux

@Arthur-Bomber-Harris Well said. I appreciate the differing views that everyone has given. I think it’s important to take all the factors into account instead of being solely focused on one strategy (like a clown). I’ll try different scenarios in future test games and see what I prefer.

    • RE: Question Regarding Normandy/Bordeaux

@haddon-granillo Also, where in the rules does it support that an Allied power (besides France) cannot control the territory if it has not fallen into Axis control beforehand?

@ampdrive Thanks for the different perspective. I’ll be sure to consider all of these factors in future games.

    • Question Regarding Normandy/Bordeaux

What’s the argument to be made to not take Normandy/Bordeaux as the Axis? I may be delusional, but I’m sure I’ve seen that idea floating around on various threads. From what I’ve seen, it had something to do with powers with occupied capitols and the IC there.
