This is also not taking into account the Japanese player will gain income faster on a J1 attack. On a J2 attack usually the Japanese are only collecting an extra 4 IPC’s in China plus 2 IPC’s from French Indo China in turn one. With a J1 attack you’re also likely claiming Hong Kong (3 IPC’s), Phillipines (2 IPC’s), and one of the DEI (3 or 4 IPC’s). So inaddtion to destroying 80+ worth of allied combat units for almost no losses Japanese economy shoots right up there from the get go. Not to mention the the Japanese fleet is well poised to take the Dutch East Indies with the earliest the allies can muster up a weak response to such a move is two turns away.

RE: Railwayposted in House Rules
I don’t think it would be that bad as long as you couldn’t rail into newly conquered territories.

Since the J1 attack has become the default for my gaming group Japan has racked up win after win. It was fairly even on J2 and J3 assaults, but, I question how well the J1 assault was play tested.

RE: Power Groupings - Global Gameposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Okay, here’s the best power grouping for a 6 player game:
Player 1 - USSR and Germany
Player 2 - Japan and US
Player 3 - UK and Italy
Player 4 - China
Player 5 - France
Player 6 - ANZACThis would definitely be optimal setup because it allows three of the players to play both sides. Who would want to be stuck on only one team? It also leaves the players with the three most important powers with only one power so no one player has all the fun.
How would you divide up a nine player game?

Looks really good. You did a great job on the Pac40 battlemap.

Germany and China should go together then.

I think Italy and the ANZAC should be played by the same person.

RE: Why are there Canadian roundels? A new rule perhaps?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I have to admit I’m terribly curious as to the meaning of the Canadian insignia. Euro40 can’t come out fast enough.

Bam! Intrawebz patrol snatches up another offender! Thank you Dakgoalie38 for policing the internet.

If they put all those Canadian territories in the game, I demand all 50 states be seperate territories with their own IPC value!

RE: Japanese Strategiesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I must be. Granted the J1 attack is tougher to deal with then a J2 or J3, but, I’m willing to be patient and see how the global game impacts the pretty much standard J1 assault. Otherwise in my gaming circle the Allies have racked up a decent number of wins. In the forum games, I’m playing two allied games, but, both are still pretty early so we’ll see how those go.
Not allowing IC’s to be built is kind of extreme to me, and to say that a consensus was reached in the other thread is misleading at best.

RE: Japanese Strategiesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
@The:
The one thread has already discussed this issue with the conclusion that Japan shouldn’t be allowed to build an IC in Asia. IC’s can only be built in Japan or Ausralia. Hard to stop Japan when they only need to build 3 tanks for asia a turn and then buy carriers and battleships…by turn 3 Japan is at 65 and the Philipines is a fortress with unbelievable range that will rip the allies apart when they get close.
If Japan doesn’t take dumb chances and slowly bleeds India, its over.
And i saw that thread too, and the only reason you guys came to “a conclusion” that Japan shouldn’t be able to build an IC in Asia is b/c many of us saw the thread and though it was such a stupid idea that they didn’t bother responding.
Correct!

Yup, especially in light of it having a 1 in 3 chance of actually working.

I predict this strat will never be beaten!
i disagree.
this shows the strat will fail 55% of the time. and the 45% of the time j can capture usa, i still do not know if it is a winning strategy, or if uk can win the war.
Nope, I’m pretty sure this strat cannot be beaten.

RE: Rethink of usa captureposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I can’t help but think it’ll make a J1 attack pretty much invalid. Unless Germany doesn’t mind the US grinding out full production on turn 1.

RE: China not being able to enter Koreaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think it’s every bit as unrealistic to expect any kind of Chinese action against Germany. If Japan is out of the game, you should probably assume China goes back to resolving its own civil war.

So when are space rules coming out? If there is one thing cooler then Nazi’s it’s Nazi’s in space!
