RE: Inceptionposted in General Discussion
I thought it was really good. It didn’t make sense for a while, but once you understand it it’s awesome. (except the very end! If you’ve seen it you know what I’m talking about)

RE: In 'n Out vs. Otherposted in General Discussion
Never had In 'n Out. I’ve hear it’s good, but there aren’t any around me. I’m a McDonalds man myself
In 'n Out is by far my favorite fast food restaraunt. You can’t beat a double-double animal style.

RE: Avatar (movie): Your thoughts…posted in General Discussion
I made the same point, but someone reminded that the humans in the film were the armed detachment of a mining company (albeit well equiped) not the military. Even the big bomb at the end was improvised from mining explosives.
True. I forgot about that. Still, though, that far in the future, I’d think that equipment that almost any organization can acquire to day would be availible to such a large mining operation as that.

RE: Avatar (movie): Your thoughts…posted in General Discussion
The plot was bland at best. The effects were different, but not benificial to the movie in my opinion. I wasn’t impressed. Plus, I disliked the overt political undertones and extensive talk of their religion.
The other thing that annoyed me was their technology. You can accomplish interdimensional space flight but you don’t have decent long-range weapons?!?!? (In the final fight they tried to destroy the tree by dropping a bomb on it out of an airplane. Even today we have missiles and surgical strikes that could have saved them a lot of trouble)

RE: Civilization Revolutionposted in Other Games
Civ II is my favorite. I tried Civ III but couldn’t get used to the new graphics. All of the Civilization games are the most immersive and exciting computer games availible. You can control the economy, the military, taxes, luxuries, happiness, and public works.

Where did Djensen post the Europe NOs? I’ve only seen the Global NOs.

RE: Victory Conditionsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I’m sure it’ll be a bit easier for the Axis to achieve, but I think that it’s pretty equal. I still remember AA Revised, where the Axis could take Karelia and India and win the game on T1. Anything is better than that

RE: Why no dutch as own power if liberated?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I think it’d be really cool to have a Dutch power in the game (I’m Pennsylvania Dutch) but their contribution to the allies wasn’t significant enough. Their only major contributions were their naval actions off of the East Indies and their resistance in the homeland. Niether of these are significant enough to warrant an independant power (as sorry as I am to conceed…)

RE: Some Rule Questionsposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
where do U place UK IC
in India?I always put the colonial garrison in India and immediately start bolstering the defending land forces. Otherwise, the Japanese can use the J1 or J2 India crush and grab the VC quickly

RE: German Baltic Fleet - Revisedposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
One of my strategies as Germany is to not move any of my Baltic fleet on G1, and then to build an aircraft carrier and a fighter to bolster the fleet. Then on G2 I can combine them with my Luftwaffe to take out the British fleet (if they haven’t already run away). Then you can build some more transports with safety and conduct operation sealion.
This plan usually works fairly well, and the British have trouble combating it. If they try constructing additional ships or build more land units in UK to defend, they must neglect their forces elsewhere, and the axis can easily take Egypt and India. The biggest problem with this plan (I call it the G3 Sealion) is that it forces you to neglect Russia. If you mobilise your starting troops early, you can defend against the Soviets for several turns, but eventually you’ll need to start sending reinforcements to the east. That’s why it’s important to quickly take out the Royal Navy (don’t get into a war of attrition). I hope that helps :-)

RE: When should Japan make war with the other Allies?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
As Japan, that American 30 IPC bonus is a pretty big deterrant, especially considering that their income is already in the 50’s before it’s added. I think that the German and Japanese players are going to have to have a discussion before the start of the game as to when to awaken the sleeping giant. From what it seems to me, Germany will benefit hugely from keeping US and USSR out, while Japan wants them in as soon as possible.

RE: Best U.S Armyposted in World War II History
Even though the US Army during Desert Storm utterly overwhelmed the Iraqis in terms of training, leadership, and equipment, I think that an army that can emerge triumphant despite insufficient supplies and training clearly proves its effectiveness. That’s why I voted for Washington’s Revolutionary Army, which was outnumbered, outgunned, and lacked basic supplies, and even though it was defeated a majority of the time, its victories were descisive enough to disillusion and defeat the British.

RE: Choose your Leaderposted in World War II History
My list of Generals is as follows: Hannibal Barca, Alexander the Great, Sun Tzu, Julius Caesar, Robert E. Lee, Erwin Rommell, George S. Patton. Any of these commanders would lead my army to victory (unless they were fighting another one of these commanders…)

RE: Soviet Battleshipsposted in General Discussion
I was playing a game of Revised. Japan had done really well early on in the game and had taken the eastern Soviet territories, India, Australia, New Zealand, Madagascar, South Africa, Rhodesia, and Italian East Africa. They had several transports ferrying infantry between their colonial possessions, so the UK made a point of sinking their navy. They sent their battleship and aircraft carrier and transport from the start of the game and attacked the Japanese fleet of mainly transports and a CV off of Madagascar and destroyed them. Then they used their transport to retake most of the territories that they lost. Right before the Japanese fleet died, however, they had left a single infantry on Madagascar, so the UK sent their transport with an inf and tank, with the BB to bombard, to clear the territory. The BB missed, as did the land forces, and the inf had two successful rolls and destroyed both land units. The british tried again the next turn, attacking with an art and inf this time, again with the BB. All UK misses and 2 Japanese hits. The third time the UK deployed the same forces with assistance from a fighter. This time, all of the UK missed their first roll and the Japanese hit, killing the infantry. The second time, the British finally hit, but not without another japanese hit. Finally having enough, the UK player took the hit on his fighter and took the territory with his art. It took 28 UK ipcs to kill 3 japanese and take over a 1 ipc territory. (sorry for the long story :-D)
