Online Rule Bookposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I’m not complaining or trying to rush anyone, but do you have any idea when the Europe rule book will be on the WotC website?

RE: Which war is the most exciting to learn aboutposted in World War II History
Next thing you know people on the street will say “Carthage must be destroyed!”
I sometimes say it to people on the street. It’s in the signature of all of my e-mails (and my AAA.org posts).
Another interesting war is the Greek and Persian wars. Themistocles and Leonidas are really interesting. I don’t know why but all of those ancient Mediterranean wars were really cool.

Dutch East Indiesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Why didn’t they make the Dutch East Indies pro-allies neutrals in the game? They could be worth the same amount but just have garrisons of 1-2 inf, representing what they had historically. The UK/ANZAC would still have to land units to occupy them, but the Japanese would actually have to fight them (as they did historically). What are everyone else’s thoughts on this?

RE: Choose your Leaderposted in World War II History
Of your list who is your first choice?
That’s a tough question. I’d either choose Sun Tzu, who (literally) wrote the book on military strategy, or Lee, who was both a tactical and strategic genius and made massive gains against the Federal Army while being outnumbered and logistically outmatched.

RE: Settlers of catanposted in Other Games
I love Settlers of Catan. It’s definitely a close second to Axis and Allies. The only thing that I don’t like is the sometimes anti-climactic endings. In AaA you can always count on a fight to the death for the last capital, or an all-out invasion of Washington or Japan. Once in Settlers my friend won the game and didn’t even notice, so we kept playing for two full rounds until finally someone pointed it out to him.

RE: Diplomacyposted in Other Games
SAS, if you take a liking to Diplomacy, you might to also try its variant, Colonial Diplomacy.
Do you know where we could find a map of Colonial Diplomacy? I’m curious to see it.

Does anyone use/make scenarios for any of the Civ games? I really enjoy Civ II scenarios, and I make a few from time to time

RE: Cruisers and tac bombers new abilitiesposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I really like the idea of a first-round AA shot for cruisers. With the new destroyer abilities, I naver buy cruisers except for the occasional amphibious landing. I think adding the AA shot will make a cruiser a necessary addition to any mixed fleet.
I’m not sure how to improve the Tac Bomber, though. For only one more IPC than a fighter you loose a defense point and gain the possibility of having an extra attack point (if there’s an escort fighter or a tank). I’m afraid that the first-round targeting ability will tip the scale in the other direction and makes Tacs too powerful. Are there any other thoughts on other advantages? Or do you think that they’re balanced already?

RE: New Players Have Much More to Learn Than When I Startedposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I always start my new recruits with D-Day. It’s the easiest to get down the basic concepts of combat and movement there. Once they’re ready, they upgrade to either Russia in Revised (it’s simple to focus soley on land units) or ANZAC/China in Pacific (if they’re up for a challence). I’ve got a pretty effective factory, and I can churn out new gamers by the tens :-)

RE: Any After Action Reports Yet?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
How are the Italians doing? Has the UK been able to rally against them in Africa and the Med while still keeping Germany at bay? Or has Italy completely annihalated Africa and taken the Middle East?

RE: Why is Sierra Leone neutral?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
They probably didn’t want a tiny UK colony surrounded by a big French colony. They must have figured that it wouldn’t have mattered to the game play anyway and would have just been an insignificant territory. I’m usually a stickler for details, but I don’t mind the inacurate representation of Sierra Leone.

Country music is my personal favorite, but I also enjoy classic rock. How about everyone else? (also, did I miss any genres?)

RE: Pepsi or cokeposted in General Discussion
That’s really interesting special forces. The Coke logo has been pretty much the same (either the fancy script or block letters) since it was invented, but Pepsi has changed a lot and added their red-white-blue circle logo mid-way through their existance.
