I lost my set-up for AA50. Would someone be able to tell me what it is for the 1942 scenario? Thanks.

RE: 20+ hours of gameplay: is this game too long?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
The point of the global game is for it to be the biggest, longest, and grandest game, for the most experienced AAA players. For newer players or people seeking a break from the massive game, thee’s AA42 and the theatre-level games.

RE: Why no British naval base in Aden?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
If there had to be a historical mistake on the AAE game, I think leaving out the Aden naval base would be the one i’d choose (along with making Sierra Leone neutral… it doesn’t affect the game at all)

We know. We’re just speculating about the possibility.

Germany can’t do a G1 sealion. By the time they’d be in position, Russia could have the fighter in London.

It would have been a good idea if you could, but unfortunately you can’t

Blitz Footageposted in World War II History
Here’s a link to an article about new footage that was just found in London showing the aftermath of the Blitz. I thought you would all find it interesting.

These are great! I’m definitely adding them to my next game.

RE: Italian Franceposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I’m also curious about the merits of an Italian France. Sure it seems great to give Italy an extra cash infusion early, but at the expense of Germany, I think it might be too much. In the end, the axis can’t win the game without a successful barbarossa, and I think depriving them of 17 early IPCs plus 4 IPCs a turn might be the straw to break the camel’s back (or in this case, the loss of income to break Germany’s economy, or something like that…)
Italy can still be successful in the game without an early 17 IPCs, and in my opinion the most important thing for the axis is to prepare for a successful barbarossa. If the Russian front gets bogged down, it’s only a matter of time before the 65 IPC American war machine reaches the gates of Western Europe and causes serious problems for Italy and Germany. What are everyone else’s thoughts on this?

RE: How do you rate A&A pacific 1940posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I love the pieces, the board, most of the new rules (neutrals, 2-hit CVs, etc.), and the entire concept of the game. The only qualm, like everyone else, is the set-up. But even minor ajsutments can clear that up. I gave it a four, but it’s just rounded down from a 4.49999999

RE: Dutch East Indiesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
but did they fight against the japs?
In real life they fought until the France surrendered and then remained loyal to Vichy France (and surrendered to Japan). But since this game ignores Vichy France and assumes all French forces are Free French, I think it’s more accurate to have a small garrison there. My favorite is 2 infantry, plus a destroyer and a transport off of FIC. It balances the game a little more and gives France a little bit of involvement in the Pacific (assuming Japan forgoes a J1 attack…)

Where are the rules and setup for your 1939 map IL?

RE: Hyper-Monroe Doctrineposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Can’t understand why Mexico, West Indies and Central America don’t all start Pro-Allied. They fixed Brazil, so why not these?
I agree. It would have made more sense historically and gameplay-wise for all of these to be pro-allied neutral.

Oh, okay. I assume de la Rey is from South Africa (considering the Afrikaans and General de la Rey, the Boer general).

RE: All these AARs; why don't you mention the French units?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
People have mentioned the North African infantry. The general practice is to consolidate the remaining troops in Algeria or Morocco to put up a better defence against the advancing Italians.

I agree. I want to know what more people are doing with the French Army and Navy. I haven’t heard anything about the French Med fleet if it survives. What are its options? I would be reluctant to remain in the Med for too long with the Italian navy building up. Is it better to move it into the Atlantic to deter Sealion or through the Suez Canal to reinforce India and the Pacific?
