      @M-4_Sherman:

      ive got my own HR like this one called A&A generals. its not as interesting since you don’t necessarily get to mangle some people, but you can check it out here.

      I’m not a big fan of the mangling myself, but it does seem to happen-one of our sets has the “V-2 bomber” with no wings, and one of the Russian infantry got in a fight with a lighter and lost.

      @Janus1:

      um, this seems to be a seemingly very random post, i mean, I could say hes a child hater because he never had kids, seemingly the same logic employed, unless i missed something

      Not really, what waraxis meant (assumption here) is that Rush only got married in order to hide the fact that he’s gay, whereas being a child hater would require him to have actually done something against a child.

      Hmmm…I didn’t know that, I guess there’s always a possibility.

      @waraxis:

      Kerry is clever but it seems that Dean has the most support.
      Though right now anything could happen.

      True, it’s still a long way from election time. I read an interesting article the other day about third-party candidates and the fact that while most of the moderate Democrats were worried about the threat that Dean posed to the other candidates, they didn’t think about the fact that a more moderate candidate might make the Green Party put up a presidential candidate again. The article also stated that the Republicans might need to watch out for the Libertarians-I don’t really know anything about them, but I think another strong party or two would make politics in America much more interesting.

      Given that somebody already gave the link in a different category, I don’t think it matters too much. I would suggest doing a search on this site for the exact location of the website where IB can be downloaded.

      @Yanny:

      I’d say the Iran-Iraq war isn’t called the Persian Gulf War because it only involved two countries. We can’t call the first Gulf war the “Iraq vs USFRANCEUKSAUDIARABIAKUWAITTURKEYGERMANYITALY” war.

      True, but I’d be more inclined to call the Iran-Iraq war a Gulf war and the first Gulf war the second, but not the current war, because Iraq only has one major port on the Gulf. But I guess Persian Gulf war II sounded better to the media, or someone.

      @TG:

      Ha I remember the time when Kerry called Dean a minor nuisance and said he could bury Dean any time he wanted. Looks like times have changed. ;)

      Looks can be deceiving. Perhaps Kerry is more clever than we suspect.

    • RE: U.S./Russia strategy

      It needs some work-Germany would most likely take out Britain’s fleet, plus some of their convoys, so it would be a pretty risky propostion. Not to mention the fact that Russia will be pretty hard pressed to support two offensives at once. What I would do is have the US build infantry the first turn, then transports, then by turn 4 make one large amphib assault at the closest territory.

    • RE: Iraq After the (Persian Gulf) War (Part II)

      Another link on the same site says that the 90-91 Gulf War is either the First or Second Gulf war.

      @F_alk:

      And for the reason i gave in my previous post, i prefer the international encyclopedia to the US one.

      What post was that?

      For the involvement, i meant the actual military involvement. If you cont otherwise, then the US probably is involved in 95% of all wars after WWII, and then i could take up again the claim that the US is the most warmongering nation on this planet.

      Probably, if we’re talking about current events.

      Just a comment:
      It is the third Persian Gulf War. Just because you didn’t participate in the first doesn’t mean it doesn’t count!

      Apparently not. According to http://www.bartleby.com/65/pe/PersGWar.html

      this, the Persian Gulf wars were “two conflicts involving Iraq and U.S.-led coalitions in the late 20th and early 21st cent.”

      Also, I take it you refer to the Iran-Iraq war as the first Persian Gulf war-though the US wasn’t involved militarily there, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t involved:

      Note: I have yet to finish this second source, as I am almost out of time on the Internet for today.

      @Deviant:Scripter:

      It’s not just Presdential candidates that are ignorant and misinformed, Gary Coleman doesn’t even think he should HAVE to know who the VP is as governor of California!

      It’s probably a good thing he didn’t get elected, then. :wink:

      What we came up with for names is rather generic, feel free to adapt for your own liking:

      Russia: Ivan (we had the most names for Russia, btw)
      Germany: Fritz
      UK: AFAIK, it was Steve, not generic I know, but there was a story there.
      Japan: I think it was Yoshi, we had a foreign exchange student by that name.
      USA: Yossarian-from Catch-22

      Anyway, units and abilities:

      Ivan’s bravery is such that he inspires his fellow soldiers to berserker status-Ivan and two of his comrades attack at two, defend at three.

      Fritz is a tank commander, his Panzer attacks at 5, defends at 3, and takes two hits.

      Steve is an amphibious specialist, in amphib attacks he and another inf (coming off the same trans attack at 3. Also, Steve is an expert at avoiding bombardment and may not be killed via bombardment.

      Yoshi has an ability similar to Ivan’s-he is an infantry commander. However, he leads his men on banzai attacks, which gives them the ability to attack at 3, but they only defend at one. (All infantry attacking from the same territory as Yoshi)

      Yossarian is a bombardier renowned for his desperate attempts to avoid getting killed. (He plans to live forever, or die trying). His bomber, on SBRs only, may roll one die, then choose to roll again and take the higher of the two as damage rolled.

      So there it is, a little long perhaps, but the way I see it (all good heroes need to have their story told)

      @Yanny:

      Try asking an American who our Vice President is. 2 in 5 don’t know.

      Yea, well, niether do some of the Democratic hopefulls. :roll:

      Let’s see…we have…what? 10 possible Democratic candidates, it then follows that 4 of them don’t know who the Vice President is.

      What my friends and I came up with was a special unit for each nation that also had a name and special ability. I could probably come up with it again if anyone’s interested.

      @UKcommander:

      I’ve only played the original. Do you guys think that Pacific and Europe are worth buying? I truly don’t know.

      I think that Europe, at least, is worth buying. I’ve also never played Pacific, but I haven’t gotten as good a review out of that.

      How about a poll to vote for either fighters, tanks, or infanry? I’ll set one up if you guys want me to.

      I doubt it’s necessary.

      I do not know if Bush pays any attention to what occurs in my country (Canada), but he may well be responding to a parliament decision to legalize gay/lesbian marriages . . . .

      Canada as a trendsetter? Uh-oh… How long ago was the parliament’s decision? I seem to remember that, but not when it was.
