      @UKcommander:

      I know, I’m a little strange, but I like to go straight for Berlin through the sea north of Germany.

      Oooh, classy! Nobody would expect that…are you the Spanish Inquisition?

      ah, but depending on pov, that could be considered cruel and unusual, while death is the “humane” thing. I dont see it in these terms, but thats a viewpoint some would have.

      Yes, but here’s how I see it: homicide is one of the worst crimes anyone can commit, therefore, it should be punishable by the worst form of punishment. If they’re not going to impose the death penalty, what else can we do?

      also, keeping these people in prison ad infinitum is a waste of money, esp. if the prisons are kept at their current level, or improved, as some seem to want.

      It has been said that it wastes more of the people’s money to have the death sentence appealed. While I have no idea whether or not this is true, it is possible.

      think about it. this guy kills someone, gets convicted to life in jail, now the person he killed is dead, and this guy lives the rest of his life with three squares, access to exercise equipment and reading, possibly tv, games/sports, and social interaction.

      Unfortunately, yes. If they’re going to waste money in the prison system, at least waste it on the guards and facilities, not the prisoners. When I say 60 years (life sentence, I figure 20 yo lives to about 80) of solitary, that’s what I mean-a 12 by 12 cube, meals consisting of bread and water, delivered with no human contact, and that’s about it.

      @cystic:

      Furthermore, i think that if a man truly did kill someone, he should have to spend the rest of his natural life thinking about what he did. This way the punishment may truly fit the crime.

      Yeah, I think 60 years of solitary and the threat of complete insanity is probably just as effective deterrent as simply killing someone.

      @M-4:

      ive got a friend who lived on his calc. he’s programmed a casino program with black-jack, roulette, and a pointless version of Russian roulette. all you do is hit enter repeatedly until a random integer coding picks #1 (choosing 1-6). then a pic comes up of a russian solder bloswing his head off. its pretty funny and fun to pass around a group.

      he even spent 2 months in junior year working out a text-based version of RISK. every country was listed and assigned a #. he actually managed to write in a decent AI. it was awsome. took a million years to play though, i dont think he’s finished a game yet.

      Ha, I could do that easily. (except the Russian soldier and the RISK)

      I’d go with Audie Murphy: attacks at 3 as long as he’s in Africa or Italy. :)

      @sherman28:

      For 2 people I’d say Axis & Allies Pacific. The other games are more fun with multiple players, IMHO.

      Definitely, for 2 it’s Pacific, then Europe, then Classic. If you have a chance of getting others, though, get Europe or Classic.

    • RE: Basic rules-questions -> HELP!

      maybe you didn’t fully read his question, he asked if he was allowed to use the same fighters he used for naval combat, in land combat, durring the same turn. That isn’t allowed

      Oh, I thought he meant continue against the subs. And yes, you are correct.

      I believe it is in the 3rd edition rules, it may be the sub withdrawal rule. The sub may submerge after the first round of combat-if it is hit, it may not return fire. If it is not hit, it may submerge.

      I don’t know…when do the primaries start? If Kerry’s dirt is as good as he claims, he might want to hold out until right before the primaries, to shock the voters.

      Yes, of course you may continue, however, your opponent may elect to have his subs submerge, so that they cannot be hit by fighters.

      Not bad. To the not losing original armor I would add fighters as well, as they are even harder to replace.

    • RE: Terri Shindler-Schaivo Right to Die/Live…Your opinion??

      @sherman28:

      I was not repeating my opinion.

      Teri is not in a coma nor a waking coma-
      that is a fact.

      Right, but the fact remains, she has not been what could be called conscious for 13 years now. If her parents wish to continue trying to save her life, then I commend that decision. However, I do not think that the government has a right to force them to keep her alive, should her parents and the doctors decide to give up on it.

      @Deviant:Scripter:

      Those few exceptions are not justification enough to do away with the entire system. Look at abortion F_alk, many of the babies are executed when they’re actually innocent, I think we should make abortion illegal. :wink:

      One time, I came up with the idea that anyone who had an abortion should be killed, on the theory that an abortion would be legal, but it would count as a murder. Besides, it’s like any other thing-women will be getting abortions anyway, and be at greater risk because of the illegality of it.

      but see, we were talking about Max, but if you’re chris, then we shouldn’t have to worry about it being you. unless you’re not who you say…

      @M-4_Sherman:

      yeah, i gotta love my calc. its helped my keep my sanity through many a boring class. once the games got dull i would head into graph mode and draw famous landmarks/skylines.

      Good times…I programmed a few things into the 83 myself, the most complicated was a simple RPG-all it had was fighting and buying stuff. Not very good but pretty good considering I never looked at the instruction manual, I think.
