    • RE: Is it possible for Russia to build a navy and still win?

      @waraxis:

      Defending a huge empire in a no win scenario in a wargame can be fun, if the defending power gives it his or her all!!!
      You guys can’t tell you never built a huge Japanese empire but had Germany fall in a game then decided to give up with out a fight??

      Well, obviously if I thought I had a chance, then I would fight. But what I was saying was if Russia has conquered most of Asia, and all I had was Japan, I would give up unless I saw it coming and built massive hordes of inf. to protect me.

    • RE: Industrial Complex in India

      @waraxis:

      Most games I see Japan doesn’t take India on the first turn.

      Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve played at all, but the few games i have played, Japan took India.

      @rottnpeach:

      I much prefer to build i complexes in northern africa (anglo/egypt sudan area). I know one player suggests building in S. africa but that’s just plain too far away, you are much better off building close to southern germany at the expence of 1 production capability. This way, you can prevent germany from taking over africa AND have a great offensive vehicle towards southern germany, AND be close enough to Russia to protect some of it from Japan! Really it’s the perfect place for an I complex - just takes longer to build up a decent sized army

      This is a good idea if you can take out Germany’s trn and Afrika Korps-otherwise, they’ll have a chance to counterattack.

      of those listed, i would definitely say the Jews. I mean, read the Bible. Obviously, there’s a lot of non-believers in these forums, but IF you believe, then the Jews have been persecuted by others for thousands of years.

    • RE: Favorite nations

      @waraxis:

      With everybody now a days going 3v1 against Germany and doing very little against Japan during the game, it gives Japan a chance to really turn the tide in the game.

      so partially, because you’re not getting attacked? what happened to the challenge of being caught between Germany and Japan and trying to survive?

      that’s what I like, the feeling of a desperate situation. if you’re outnumbered and still win, that’s the best kind. of course, if you don’t have good support from your ally(ies) that makes it even better. 8)

      …and the German player will focus on Europe. Here’s a good time to think about the Ind ic.

      As opposed to focusing on Africa?

      I believe the one time this happened I was playing against someone who had wasted time on a navy while I concentrated the U.S against Germany, so he was just trying to pretend his lack of tactical skills wasn’t why he lost. :D

    • RE: My tech rules

      @dezrtfish:

      Canned Factories allows factories to be moved 1 territory per turn. On the turn the factory is moved it may not produce units. Cost of new factories is reduced to 12Ipcs.

      So do the moved factories still count as originals?

      Otherwise, excellent!

      sounds pretty vicious. perhaps if it was only like on a 6? or perhaps it gets destroyed, and they can’t build anything there until the next turn when it gets replaced.

      @waraxis:

      Then wait and build it on the 2nd turn. Study the Japanese player’s 1st turn real carefully. Then decide.

      In other words, if you still have India after turn one, build the IC? :wink:

      true. i have played against fatalist types who will never surrender, and i would also rather build a fleet-besides, you’ll still need TRNs for the ride over, because anyone who fights that far won’t give up till there’s an occupation force.

      thanks for the history lesson…I still have yet to use Italians in A&AE, think it’s a great idea, though.

    • RE: Industrial Complex in India

      @waraxis:

      It all depends on the Japanese player. If you know for a fact that he will go hardcore for Russia or go full throttle into the Pacific and threaten the Western American then go ahead and build a IC in India.

      Good point. Too bad placing an IC might make him change his mind.

    • RE: Is it possible for Russia to build a navy and still win?

      @waraxis:

      If the Japanese player wont give up after Germany falls then Russia can build a navy to help beat her!! There are some players who have no problem going down with the ship. Besides if during the game the Japanese player built a huge Asian Empire then I can see him or her not going down with out a fight!!!

      I can see why Russia could have a navy, but what I’m saying is that if it actually gets so far they need one, then Japan ain’t gonna win anyway. :wink:

    • RE: Texas Dems Run away again…

      well, it seems as though they’re doing the right thing to me, even though I am a conservative (don’t want to say Republican necessarily) but the real issue here is
      “In a showdown with national implications, 11 Democrats from the Texas Senate accused Republicans of trying to ram through a CONGRESSIONAL redistricting plan that could get them seven more seats and add to their narrow majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.”

      That’s like allowing the foxes to build the chicken coop. Someone else ought to be doing that job.

      @cystic:

      but when a mcdonald’s hamburger costs a week’s wage as opposed to half-hour’s minimum wage, there is something to be said about smart heart health ;)

      So are you saying the Russian economy was better because it was harder to kill yourself by obesity? :wink:

    • RE: Why no Italy???

      yeah, Italy would have been/would be a great addition to the game, but realistically, I think the game starts in 1942? Italy would actually be an ally in 1943, so they would just change over-if you wanted realism you would have to deal with that, but these games aren’t completely realistic anyway.

      right . . . France.
      Oh so very threatening. I’m just imagining a French terrorist at a security gate . . . “oh no, they have a metal detector. I’d better surrender.”

      too late…they’ve already surrendered to the terrorists. 8)
