Heavy bombers is not that unballanced in land fights even without AA-gun.
If you record punch/cost the Heavy bomber (assuming the bomber costs 12 points) 8/12=2/3, which compared to the artellery (1/2 or 3/4 if you count support) and tanks is not that insane.

But in sea battles, HB is realy powerfull.

What I think is strange is the repair IC technology. For Japan, Italy and US its definitivly totaly useless as the most probably will never ever get bombed at all, and it is probably useless for UK/russia too as I dont see Germany wanting to build Bombers instead of cheap land-based units. Its only germany which can ‘benefit’ from this technology and that only
      if UK/US bombs them.

So my geuss is that this is one of the ‘wrong’ technologies.

The improved production might be realy fun in special situations. For Japan it is definitly nice. For US & Italy it is probably totaly waste. For UK it might be nice, but only if you at the time you get it have build a few extra factories. For Russia it might be neat to be able to crank out land-units closer to the front. Likewise it might be nice for the german player, but only if he is capable of holding one of the factories in Russia.

So in genall Improved production is useless for 2 countries, might be handy for 3 and wonderfull for japan.

Radar is likewise neat for Germany (killing fighters and bombers when the allies invades france…) but useless in extremly many situations.

But Lynxes, is it plausalbe that Improved production and IC repair could be combined into one tec or would that be to powerfull.

I dont find any of those two extremly usefull. The beneifts of those two techs are very restricted to the situation you are in, and for many situations both of them would be extremly useless.

    • RE: German AA50 -41 strategy

The russian front is quit straight forward for the first round: take as much as you can, and with a decent defence in each province the Russian having almost only infanteri cannot fight back the first round.
What to do with the two subs in the atlantic is somewhat troublesome. Those submarines are preaty toast in the UK round whatevery you do, so atleast try to attack something with them. If you take out a transport, UK has few transport available for attacking Europe.

      Egypt is the painfull battle.

It is Italy which have interest in Egypt as they definitivly need the bonus IPC. Not germany.

Attacking egypt with 75% probability to win is risky, if you loose you loose a lot of stash, maybe including a bomber and a transport. Keeping a transport might prove very valueble.

The problem with Italy & Egypt is that Italy cannot afford to loose its transport. So if UK send ships into the medetarian, I would say that it might be to risky to send troops into egypt AND take out the UK ships at the same time, espesialy if UK still have a fighter in Egypt (which can kill a lone transport and maybe even a transport protected by a cruiser).

If left alone in the medeterian, Italy got quit the punch with three shorebombardment, killing 1-2 units before combat starts.
Without reinforcements in Egypt by UK, Italy can take egypt sending 3 infanteri, one artellery and one fighter. The problem is that UK gets to go first and decide what to do. Italy has to respond…

    • RE: New Allied Strategies for Anniversary Edition

I read somewhere that Russia gets +5IPC if it holds archangels AND there are no allied(UK,US) troops on russia.

This means that if US lands a bomber in russia, and you are 6 people playing, russia is going to be pissed of cuz he looses his 5IPC bonus!

How much will this small bonus change the allied tactics?

Hello. I’m new to this forum, but I’ve been reading this forum for information about the new A&A game.

However I just had to comment.

I generally agree with your geussing about what techs are included. However I realy realy miss an upgrade to the tanks.

Could IC repair and Improved production be combined into 1 tech: Improved factories? Then one have place for new
‘heavy tanks’. Which I feel is missing.

I realy enjoy Improved Artellery tech. It gives the punch! Given that you have enough soldiers for support its equialent to
4 in attack and 2 in defence. Which is far supperior punch per cost compared to the tank!

Radar: isn’t this a air/navel thing? Maybe radar and rockets could swith places?

Jet: agree that jet technology needs something more than just +1 in defence. Either ignore AA-guns, or +1 in ofensive would be nice.
      –-

I’ve played with the house rule in revised A&A that each nation gets a free shot at a random technology every round, and it plays out very very nice. Regarding balance the ‘free’ technologies changes very little actually. This is because the probability for someone getting something REALY REALY powerfull is realy realy low. Most probable you sooner or later get something nice, but no way gamebreaking. But what this rule does is add a lot of fun into the game. Typicaly russia get long-ranged aircraft, which is fun for russia but germany would not start crying. Or japan gets jets-planes, which is a very marginaly benefit.

What I’m trying to say is that the new way to get technology is realy fun, but be aware that getting a RANDOM technology
will probable not be a major swing in your direction.
