    • RE: New Major Complex Plastic Pieces for AA40 games!

Thanks Reloader, great Idea, I’ve been looking for something cool to mark my Cities.  I got all my white IC from my original 1980’s game and gray ones from the new game.  So I don’t need IC markers, however, I’ve been wanting to make victory cities and capitals.  I’m deep into all the plastic stuff about the game.  I took my fighers from the orignal game and painted them gold and glued them on top of the cities from Fortress America, using them to make airbases.  And took trans from the old game cut them down some and glued them to a button base for navel bases.  (the pic I use on her shows them) I think I have a plastic addition.  I even got fire to mark a captured city and smoke to mark a capital ship with a hit.  Again thanks for the great idea, I’m ordering in the morning.

    • RE: Strange Italian Strategy

I’ve read on here so many times before, people stating that you have to spend every last IPC possible each turn.  I never understood why they would say that it is the only choice you should do.  I never questioned or responded back but I’ve always played that if it’s in a players best intrest to hold off spending til the next turn, I do.  Example; as a poor country like ANZAC I can hold my money til the next turn to purchase an airbase on one of my island before the Japanese come calling.  I’m not speaking as an expert, however, I’ve been playing since the beginning in the 80s’.  Got alot of years behind me.  And maybe this is not the best way but I’ve always done it and always will.

    • RE: There are not enough Italian Roundels!!!

      @calvinhobbesliker:

Hmm, South France, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Alexandria, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Syria, Gibraltar, Greece, Bulgaria

And France……  Germany had some bad roles and France rolled nothing but ones and twos, left it wide open for Italy.  Also add one more on the IPC chart and two more if they have the two NO, now we’re up to 16 needed and we only got twelve.  UK is getting kicked out of Africa so Italy is way to short.

    • There are not enough Italian Roundels!!!

Italy is kicking but in my game, so now I think I’ve discovered the new European versions of “Pacific’s issue of Not Enough Japanese Tech Bombers”.  There are not enough Italian Roundels to play if Italy is wining a game.  I guess the Italians were set up and designed to lose and nobody considered they would do good.

I think this is worse than the Japanese Tech issue, because that was basically just the set up with out using chips.  There are no substitutes for the Roundels.  I’m using dice right now and it sucks.  I hope we can get enough support together like with the Japanese Techs that we can get more Italian roundels made.

    • RE: How long do your global games typically last?

I started a game in the morning of August 25th, it’s now been seven days and I’m on Italy’s turn in the fourth round.  I have no kids or cats at home to destroy the board so I got it set up on my dinning room table and the room stays closed off from traffic.  Told my wife that it’s not the Dinning Room anymore, it’s the War Room.  I’m just playing by myself taking lots of time to think of the best moves to make.  It’s been very interesting.  Right now it’s leaning twards an Axis victory but the tide may change.  I’m at that teetering point of the game, could go either way.  I had found a couple of mistakes I made along the way, the biggest one was not understanding at first that the UK now has Canada to help get a ships in the water, (was still thinking old game).  A strange start also because Paris refused to fall to the Germans.  It’s sometimes amazing how many times the dice can be so one sided.  France couldn’t roll anything but ones and twos.  I would have been better playing Yatzee cause I think they got two of them.

    • RE: Sea zone colors Europe vs Pacific

Yes and I have even a bigger color difference between the two European boards.  So much so that when I show it off so far to three different people the first thing thay say is wow the size is impressive, the second thing is, “look how different the blue is in the sea between these two boards.” stands out big time.  Not a big deal to me but I can see how obvious it is when it keeps getting pointed out…

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

Hey Krieghund; was there ever an answer to my question weeks ago about the appearance of having to go through Eastern US to go form Nova Scotia, Canada to Quebec, Canada by land, due to the St. Laurence touching a very pointy Maine?

    • Color of the Soviets -vs- the Italians

I have no idea why they pick such close colors to each other.  I cannot tell the difference between the two side-by-side much less on the board, especially when there not going to be in there countries like ships in the ocean.  It only looks like the Soviets are a little shiner than the Italians.  They pick such a strong color for France, so far removed from the theme of the other counties and stands out so much that they look a little awkward.  So you’d think they could have gone a little more red in the Soviets or something.  For those (like me) who have less color depth perception.

    • RE: Can't Wait…1 day till dday.

Ordered back in May from Cool Stuff.  I have not received an e-mail conf. and my status on there site still says “in que”.  That kinda’ worries me……  However, when I called Cool Stuff they looked up my invoice and said it was mailed and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow the 24th.  So I’m hoping the guy I was talking to was right and they’re just to busy to update the computer site.

    • RE: How many Air Bases and Naval Bases are there?

Wow! that many air and naval bases.  In Pacific 1940 there were only 11 airbases (9 Allies and 2 Japanese) and 10 naval bases (8 Allies and 2 Japanese).  Kriehund, are you saying that they added 6 more naval bases and 5 more air bases just on the Pacific side of Global?

    • RE: Split UK Units

I have a question; who gets this National Objective,
“+5 for ANZAC and Canada having all their original territories”?
Oh course I know it’s early and we’re not sure if this is listed correctly.
But if it is, maybe it’s a choice were we place the IPC units bought with the NO’s IPCs.

    • RE: Picture of US & Sea Zones together, West meets East

Thanks for the recognition Woodstock and I’m glad to see the thread get back on topic.  I have another thread about Canada “Nova Scotia to Quebec via US?”  I made it after I noticed that you could not go form one Canadian territory to the other without going though Eastern US; it didn’t seem right.  Krieghund is still looking into this.

I bring this up because after looking at the combined East/West Map it has me asking another question about boarders.  Dose anyone know if Central United State was intended to boarder Alberta on the Western tip of Lake Superior?  I would think it doesn’t, but it could go either way.  Anyone know?  Kreighund?

    • RE: Nova Scotia to Quebec via US?

      Hey Kreighund,

I never got and answer on this and it’s fixing to roll off page one and be forgoten and I know you should have an answer to this one as well as my Greenland question….

Can you get form Nova Scotia to Quebec by land directly or do you have to go through the Eastern US.

    • Is Greenland an island?

Is Greenland suppose to be an island sitting in sea zone 121, (as it runs off the board like New Zealand does in sea zone 63), or is it suppose to be connected (at that very last bit of land) to Alberta?  This may have beed covered in Eroupe but I couldn’t find it.

    • RE: Nova Scotia to Quebec via US?

It does look like the Eastern US (Maine) is to high or the St. Laurence is to low.  Either way you should not have to travel through the US to go from one providence to another in Canada.  (And now you need passports, it will take forever.)  The land bridge between Nova Scotia and Quebec might be tha only answer.

    • RE: Completed turns equal how many years?

Not speaking for Imperious Leader (he said 6 moths).  But I did see on that other game that is like AA Global (I forgot the name), they did straight off say a turn equaled 6 moths.  That never sounded right.  To me it feels more like it should be about 4 months a completed turn, so 3 turns would equal a year.
