Operation Walrus
Recently played a game with my buddies and Moscow fell to the Germans on turn 4. The German player faked Sea Lion and instead sent the invasion force up to the sea zone next to Leningrad, only instead of attacking Leningrad, dumped everything in Novosibirsk and hit Moscow next turn. The Russians were screwed because they had pushed everything up to the front in preparation to attack Germany when/if London fell and couldn’t react. Is there any way to counter this?

If we’re having Italy take over the Balkans, then what does the Africa situation end up looking like? Taking Egypt is not usually a problem with the Tobruk guys, but it gets crushed by tanks out of South Africa.

whomever plays them wants to make more money fast so they concentrate on places that are worth IPCs
Is that what I should be doing? Maybe sending both transports to Syria for an Iraq grab? The problem I have with that is that the Italian fleet always gets crushed by the British B2 since they’re away from any airbases.

Why Malta? Have you thought of saving up for a carrier?
I never have anywhere to put it. The British just sit next to Italy and kill anything that I build. And the Germans are usually using all of their IPCs on Russia so they aren’t much of a help. Taking out Malta and holding most of North Africa at least buys me a few bombing run-free turns.

Italian Weakness
I’m currently having issues playing as the Axis when it comes to Italy. I’m typically invading Gibraltar and Malta I1, but my navy is always crushed after by the British. And then the US pours a ton into the Med and I’m losing all of my money to convoy strikes every turn. What’s a different approach that works?

Turn 1 Operation Barbarossa
Can this be a good idea? I’m thinking that eliminating some smaller Russian stacks before they consolidate into large ones is a good move, as well as stealing some income early-game.

Aleutians
The map is a little ambiguous and I can’t find it in the rules: do the Aleutian islands count as an island group a la Philippines, or are they meant to be connected to Alaska so land units can move between the two?

How Do You Shorten the Game?
I’m at college and play this once a weekend, but it always starts at 4pm and goes til 5am when nobody has won and we all call it quits. We’ve been playing often enough that we know the rules, everything just moves very slowly. Are there any tricks out there for speeding things up?
