    • RE: Opening the door for more World War One based games? Your opinion

Got to simplify it Flash. Whats funner wiping out you opponent and his castle or arranging a marriage? At least in a board game I would have to say taking someones castle.

I think Napoleon would be cool AA style. Also would like to see 100 years war game. Have up to 6 players play. Each player has a noble or lord for France or England. Pieces would be awesome. Have your castle be your capital once it is lost that player is eliminated.

    • RE: Hasbro/WotC Priorites (Not 1914)

Agree with you on that BJC but look how much you are paying for those games. I have both of the ones you’re talking about and they weren’t cheap. Anniversary looks like a bargain now what I paid for it. Buddy of mine wants it and we are just going to try to build one from scratch copying my rulebook and using some of the maps and aids that are in that forum. Then buy the pieces from HBG to get er done.

I didn’t have a problem with the old style boards on classic or old Europe and Pacific. You could definitely see the boundaries better. Played 1942 second edition over the weekend and you could barely see the lines between territories in Russia. Couldn’t they have made them white so you could see it better. Just saying.

No money, No battle board and not enough chips typically. No storage containers except in global 40.  The pieces are better. Rulebook is in color. Board I would say is kind of a wash. I don’t know I believe that is a bit of a downgrade.

WOTC has got to be selling a lot of these AA games. I live in O’fallon MO and 2 walmarts have got 1941 on the shelves. One of them only had 1 left. So I have to believe they are making some bank on these games. I do realize they aren’t for everyone but still there is a market for them. Not to mention the fact that they did a second edition for 2 of them. If it was a losing proposition they wouldn’t be making them. I just lament the fact that the quality has gone down so much with these games. The fact that the community continues to produce side products to supplement these games is what puts the finishing touches on them that WOTC are missing.

    • RE: Is Germany screwed?

I am really surprised you 2 don’t agree with me on this one you both seem like you are typically craving more realism in these games. Surprised you don’t see it the same as I do on this one.

    • RE: Who Will You Play as?

I voted for Germany only because my buddies will be to afraid to play them. I do think Austria might be the darkhorse(if they are one) to play in this game. Great Britain may be the funnest to play for the Allies. Italy I believe will be the worst. We shall see.

    • RE: Is Germany screwed?

I got to agree with Flash’s comment about movement in these games. Too slow. I always fealt you should be able to build railroads for 2 ipcs per territory. Connect them to whatever route you want them to go. I am kind of shocked there are no fortifications in this game. When you think of WW1 what do you think of? Trenches right. Otherwise known as(OK everybody) FORTIFICATIONS. Larry went with naval bases and air bases in global 40 you figure naval bases, fortifications and railroads in this WW1 game. I am very surprised these were not incorporated into this game.

    • RE: Does anyone know for sure how many Anniversary Editions were made?

I would guess between 20 and 30 thousand were made.I thought I heard somewhere on these boards years ago thats what a typical printing of these games is. Other than that I’m like you guys who knows.

    • RE: Can You Pre-order???

I think Cool stuff has a shipping charge if you spend under 100 bucks. If you spend over that(2 copies) I believe it is free.

    • RE: Is Germany screwed?

What if Austria can send a little help in southern France. Not a lot just enough to take away from the defence  of France from Germany. Maybe that will be enough to crush France.

    • RE: Ottoman Empire

I would assume that the Ottomans will be the weakest central power with probably no air power to start the game. Their advantage would be they probably won’t have a lot in front of them aside of Russia. Maybe this game would be ahistorical in the fact that the Ottomans will conquer most of Africa. Kind of like the Japanes sending tanks form Manchuria to Russia in the first AA. Hope it isn’t that easy. I guess Larry will tell us what France will do next. Till then speculation continues.

    • RE: Are you going to buy it?

Flash those comments you made are great and true about the EU. What made those countries great was their differences not their similarities. Instead some idiot says we have to all be the same and act the same and get along. What a load of crap. Thats alright some of those same failed ideas are coming to the USA. Sorry I shouldn’t have said that.

    • RE: Images of the Map?

Agree with you Thrawn not to mention your scenario for Bulgaria was probably more historically accurate. I also don’t like the fact they can only put units out once. Maybe if you don’t take it that country can reinforce with half of what it started with. Example Austria invades Romania. Romania starts with 3 inf and 1 art. If they survive they reinforce it with 2 inf. If it still holds 1 inf. If every other country continues to reinforce why can’t these smaller ones. They should be able to just on a smaller scale. Bulgaria when it joins the Central should act in a similar fashion.

I am buying it but only 1 copy. I see where Imperious is going though. I don’t know if this will go to the value of Anniversary edition because I think they will just do a second edition or another printing. If you bought 6-8 copies of Anniversary edition you could have made over 1,000 selling 5 of them.

    • RE: FMG "Kickstarter" for GERMANY Project

I want you to finish this project and I would pre-order again to help you guys get it done. Thats really all I can think of. If you do this and I know you are a ways away. PLEASE do the German infantry in the great coat. That alone would make the set worth it.
