    • RE: Alpha+2 Allies struggle to win, crazy alternative discovered: Surrender London!

I tried your strategy with your German builds in a game against myself James and Germany does take UK rather easily. The AA gun is one of the only thing that scares me. I am just concerned that the game will become too scripted the more you play it. It appears it already has for you as the Axis. I got to admit I never would think about having UK abadon england but otherwise she has no chance.

James what is your opinion of the game. You obviously have played it a lot more than I have. It seems to me you have figured out a No Brainer strategy for Germany.Do you feel the game needs to be tweaked again. Maybe alpha +3. I am no fool when it comes to this game unfortunately I can’t play but 3 or 4 times a year due to family constraints. I get the feeling you would wipe the floor with me and in my play group I almost never lose. Just curious what  you think is it time for alpha 3. Thanks for the response.

    • RE: Scale pieces - BIG MESS

The scale is fine. After a couple of scotch and waters or Grand Marniers on ice you need them to be  of a different scale. The only piece issue I have is historically accurate Italians. Thats why I ordered them from FMG. I think they should still also provide the money. I have been playing this game since high school off and on and I just turned 40. The money for me is almost essential. Just my 2 cents.

Just took another look at the German infantry in the greatcoat. God I wish that was in next set. Can’t wait for the Italians.

Hey James I tried out your strategy as Germany with your builds and it is very sound. You might be on to something about the English retreat. Another alternative might be for Russia to build up a strong navy in the Baltic while Germany throws everything at UK. I haven’t tried this yet. Wondering if anyone has. This might get Germany at least thinking twice about leaving everything engaged in the west.

Hey stickman I thought he said pre orders will ship first on March 8th when he gets them and then we can order and wait for Germany.

James thanks for the reply but what about Russia? Looking at your builds gives you next to nothing for the eastern front to what Russia is going to have by then. I do see your point of buying artillery instead of tanks because they are cheaper and give the infantry more of a punch. In my simulated game I was using only the artillery that Germany starts with and buying tanks for more punch. If I get the chance to look at your theory I will test it. LOL man.

    • RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.

Not to make this political cow but over half the country wants abortion abolished. Roe v Wade was supposed to be about if a woman was raped or incest not abortion on demand. So I would say that is flawed logic.

I have to hand it to you James I never would have even considered this. I am not so confident it will work but I do see what you are saying about the US dollars. I still think that Germany will incur massive casualties in the battle of britain. I have not yet played this game against real opponents but in looking at it and doing a game against myself Germany seems to knock UK out in turn 3 or 4. That is at great cost though giving Russia a HUGE upper hand. I am curious give me your buys for Germany turns 1-4. Thanks James

    • RE: US Income in Alpha + 2 Question

They will need it if Germany and Japan are having success in their respective theaters.

I am relatively new to this forum but I love the dedication and ingenuity of its players. Canuck94 these charts are AWESOME. I just printed them out and am going to laminate them at Kinkos. Great job man and thanks.

Thanks for the update FMG will be looking for my Italians in mid March. I still plan on buying the Germans but I would have gone with The Mark 4 and the Tiger. The Mark 4 if I am not mistaken was the only tank the Germans used throughout the war. Then you would have a light and heavy tank. I still think the new ones look awesome and at this point I am just happy that this project is being done and the detail that these pieces have. Go Jets 2011

I agree with FMG these pieces won’t be used in conjunction with WOTC’s they will replace them.

Hey Mr.Black the clutter  was my concern on these but I figured since FMG was already doing these pieces it might be just another upgrade. How cool would that pacific look with marines holding up the flag or the japanes raising there arms in salute. Thanks for your interest.

Hey KNP that is exactly what I think. I know it might create clutter but I think from a visual standpoint it would look awesome. I know that I am a little late to  the conversation on this subject but I have been reading this post for quite some time. I think what FMG is doing is taking Axis and Allies to a whole new visual level. This would add to that level.  If you want to use the current control markers thats entirely up to the players. I just think if you did these pieces in with the detail that I see so far it would be fantastic. On my last post I left out my vision for the Uk. Soldier blowing bugle while flag being raised. Just a thought. Thanks for the interest guys.

To continue my thought. Have the soldiers carrying flags using iconic images of the war.
USA Marines on Mt Suribachi. U.S.S.R soldier planting flag in Berlin. Japan. Soldiers waving arms up in triumph around the rising sun. Germans. Soldier goosestepping with  banner.  Italy and Britain I will have to think about. France waving a white flag. Just kidding. What do you think FMG.

    • RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread

I know it is a little late in the game to request this FMG but I had a great idea this evening. Forgive me if this has already been brought up. I think Axis and Allies control markers are cheap and what I have seen from your company my idea I think would be awesome. Picture this a German infantry unit holding a banner\flag with the iron cross or whatever German symbol you want on it. Use a decal to fit on the flag. Like my Napoleon in Europe game. Do every nation. Imagine looking at your board from a distance it may resemble some of the maps you saw generals pouring over during the war. If this has already been posted I apologize for wasting your time. I think these pieces would be fantastic FMG. Especially since what I have seen so far. Let me know what you think guys.

Thanks for the response FMG  I look forward to seeing a new and bettter looking Royal Navy and R.A.F. I have thought the british infantry has needed an overhaul for a while. BTW with these new pieces coming out and blowing away the old ones and also your combat dice. All you need FMG is a better map and rules and you would have the greatest Axis and Alllies ever. I vote for Axis and Allies. The Fieldmarshal edition.
