After a prolonged and heated debate in the OKW finally a decision was reached.
Sinking the Allied fleet in the Channel - especially with all the British/French troops sitting as bait in these transporters - would finally turn the tides of war in Germany’s favour again.
But the risk was just too high: the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe could not guarantee a victory and the consequences of a defeat in this battle would be dire.
So Germany will leave the strategic initiative to the Allies and see what they will do next.
