I still like the idea that everyone start with units on peacetime stations; that is more or less evenly distributed around their home tts, with small garrisons in colonies.

The first turn then is a mobilization round, in which powers can (in same turn order) send their units to whichever front they choose.

Units not yet at war cannot mobilize, so if you prefer Turkey & Italy to be neutral R1 they remain a turn behind.

i never noticed this rule before. it opens up an interesting overpurchase tactic.

Ok one year later.

So I’ve tried to attack Russia earlier thinking they’d have less troops in the long run.  Bought mechs to catch up to the front line and some artillery to help in the assault.  I either BARELY win with a very thin Western Europe line (because I’ve sunk a bunch of money into Russian attack) or I lose and pretty much resign.  I also tried bringing Italian mech/tanks to facilitate (which was fun).

Maybe I’m missing something somewhere else on the map but I just can’t seem to hold my own against the Allies when playing Axis.  It’s like nerve-racking trying to make every play count.  If there’s another thread on here with strategies that I’ve missed maybe someone can point me to it?

Well, unfortunately, G40 does not lend itself to tournament play.  We are finding out G42 doesn’t as well but is it the best alternative.Â

I will let Questioneer address this when he arrives.  But in short, just no way to have a tournament at a CON.  Not enough time… :oops:

Sorry, couldn’t make it this year…really wanted to defend our 1914 title from Origins.  BTW- the 1914 game rocks with the new tourney rules.  Hopefully Larry will confirm the new slightly adjusted setup for next year also.

As far as G42- Greg I am really warming up to this game as I think others are as they play it.  However like G40- its not any faster unless you give guys the 12-14 hrs (versus 8hrs) to play it in.  If you play 8hrs it might as well be all day, that way players can finish the stinking thing.

Other than that I put G42 on equal par with G40- both are superb versions.

If any A&A players have Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, then go onto Azeroth(USA east) add ghr3 to your friends list.  Message me and I can host this exciting variant!

I am all for any rule ideas that

A) return the US NO money to the contiental states, and not put conditions on it that include islands in the pacific.
B) a “game clock” mechanic that eventually makes the US an undefeatable monstrosity. So the Axis has to win before turn 20 or face an Atomic Superbeast.

I am really happy that the lot of you steps up for FGM all the way and in fact, this has a very soothing effect on me which in turn helps me being more patient! I do know that one man can only work, breathe, live and stay mentally sane so much, even if a good intention is spoiled, that´s the disheartening truth and what makes me sad about this.
And just to let you and Jeremy know: Once this episode is over, I am thinking about buying a dice tray and some chips. They say, that once you have been through hell with your customer and came out in a way that both can keep their head held high, this is the real trust builder. Personal experience taught me that they are right :)

@Jeremy (if you ever read this): In my first anger, I have written some lines on Facebook and in another thread in this forum. Though they were not impolite, they certainly were not positive. I deleted both of them before anyone could reply, to not put more pressure on you than the circumstances demand and keep your reputation unharmed, as you certainly deserve it. The internet is a shark-pit and it never forgets, but sometimes I do. I apologize for not keeping my temper in check.

It wasn’t a “contest” of any kind.

I simply don’t see that this rule is necesary, especially with the new units now being produced.

To each his own, though. Have FUN should always be our #1 rule. Enjoy.

I need to ask someone since the rules on larry’s site had too much ambiguity.  If russia declares war on japan and attacks a japanese terr (whether boardering Mong or not) then LATER if japan attacks a russian terr boardering Mong, does Mong turn russian?  (basically, russia started the war)

It doesn’t matter whether USSR and Japan are at war, or who started it.  What matters is attacks against territories that border Mongolian territories.  If USSR declares war on Japan, but does not attack any Japanese-controlled territories that are adjacent to Mongolian territories, then Japan attacks a USSR-controlled territory that is adjacent to a Mongolian territory, Mongolia will still ally itself with the Soviet Union.

Thankyou Maddog, his son Mike and ghr2 for playing Global 40 game last weekend at my house. Had a awesome time with you guys and a Axis win with some bad die rolls for the Allies. Learned alot playing my first  version of that Global 40 game.
