    • RE: Sea Battle Transport question

      @ChocolatePancake:

      In your first scenario, the American planes participate in the defense of the sea zone and must be destroyed before the transports are automatically lost. However, since the Germans have subs in the battle, and since subs can’t hit planes, any hits by the subs must be taken on the transports.
      If Germany only had subs left, and the UK force only had planes and transports left, then the transports would be automatically destroyed and the battle would end. But since Germany has units that can hit the planes and vice versa, the battle doesn’t end automatically. Basically, as long as there are units that can hit each other, the battle doesn’t end automatically.

      For your second scenario, if the UK, at the end of a full round of combat, has only transports left, the UK may retreat those transports if there is a valid sea zone to retreat to. The transports may not unload.

      Edit: if the UK player decides not to retreat, then Japan would roll its planes and the UK would take any hits on its transports. The UK would have the option to retreat after every round of battle where it has any surviving transports.

      The UK is defending, defenders can’t retreat.

    • RE: Looking for Gamers in N IL or S Wisconsin! Have games, will travel!

      Hey, I am from SE Wisconsin.  I know some players from Milwaukee, Kenosha, and if I shake things up, I may be able to wake-up some players from Chicago.  I came across someone from Madison and a few others in South WI, but they fell off the map it seems.

      My friends and I usually do Global 40, 1914, or Tigerman’s Global War 1939.  SS, on the forums, is part of our group and usually hosts some games.  If you are interested in joining I would suggest sending him a message as well as myself.

      I would not mind traveling to the Rockford Area if you know anyone close by who can play, but I doubt my buds will want to travel that far.

      We have a game on the 19th, but we are already expecting 6-players to show.  I will let you know if there is something that comes up.

      Hope to meet ya soon!

    • RE: Best Buys for each country

      Here is my list for round 1:

      Germany:  It depends, I like to try 3 subs and 3 art, but a lot of people either choose all navy or all ground.

      Russia:  If Germany bought heavy ground, then 11 inf 1 art, if Germany bought boats, 7 inf, 3 mechs, 1 art (maybe more art and less mechs)

      Japan: 90% of the time, I do 1 minor IC and 2 transports.

      US:  I nearly always do 2 carriers, 1 destroyer, 2 subs

      China: art whenever i get the chance, all inf any other time of course

      UK:  6 inf 1 fig is fairly standard

      Italy: depends too much on how much UK kicks your butt

      ANZAC:  Either transport inf or 1 fighter

    • RE: Global 1942 Scenario by Larry Harris

      @siparo:

      We have played this scenario more than most. We played it countless timesfor over a year. We’ve played it at the GenCon tournament for the last 2 years. Perhaps my friends and I are mistaken due to playing each other so often and we’ve become trapped in the same old moves for countless games.

      If you’re interested in a game via TripleA, let me know.

      I am looking to play more Global on TripleA as well.

    • RE: Historical Lend Lease

      @SS:

      I can see it being where if US lend lease convoy is attacked then that’s an act of war.
      Its going to take 2 turns just to get to Russia and also does the convoy get to move 5 spaces with naval base ? Now looks like the Uk will get most of lend lease and have to help out Russia more unless of course no G subs around.
      Its also says " after unloading, the L/L convoy must return to a sea zone adjacent to the US before all ships can return to normal operation.
      So I’m assuming that the convoy ships cannot attack anything until they return to a US.
      I like this rule now because then US can’t just send half their money every turn.
      It will be 6 turns before Russia gets any real money. That"s where I see it going to the UK more.

      It depends if Germany is capable of killing the lend-lease if it goes to russia.

    • RE: J1: Make peace with China?

      @wittmann:

      I think the problem is that China is worth so much. Isn’t it 24 IPCs? The 12 territories owned by China, when the game begins, should only be worth 4-6. It is ridiculous that Japan can get rich from these 12 territories. Its overly generous starting Air units ensure China stands no chance. (Combined with the 19 from the DEI, Japan makes far too much, too quickly.) Perhaps a few extra Chinese would help too.

      The 12 territories china starts the game with is worth 12, the coast is worth 11, not counting HK and Korea.

    • Historical Lend Lease

      Has anyone tried this option in the Rules?  Since they can be paired with escorts, can any axis country attack the convoys while not at war with the US?

      Japan loses a lot of money if he decides to leave china alone.  Not to mention 2 victory cities, landing spots for allied planes, etc.

      @SS:

      Capture or Liberate territory the minor factory is destroyed. If Germany controls the minor fac. in Paris and the Allies capture territory the minor fac is destroyed. Says right there in bottom paragraph.

      It does not say that in here.

      I need you to show me exactly where.
