RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
My friend and I took a quick look at the cards and these are the changes we think should be made
Germany #4 Hendaye Pact: Spain is a pro-axis. once Spain is brought into the Axis, place a free minor ind, 2 infantry, 1 fighter, and an airbase in Spain. This card must be played before the first German turn.
USSR #1 Change the noncombat move from +1 to all movement too just a move of 2 for all units because they are all on the same railroad.
USSR #2 add this :additionally choose one unit to cost one less IPC for the remainder of the game.
Japan #3 the beginning needs to say “During the first turn that Japan attacks a western Allie not already at war with or the Soviet Union…”.
Japan #12 Iaoroku Yamamoto: Japanese fighters tac bombers and Navy have a move of +1 when moving in the Pacific (planes not in mainland Asia).
Japan #15 change the 2 infantry to 1 infantry is purchasable in each Chinese territory.
U.S. ALL GOOD 8-).
China #3 needs too be moved to #5 and the restriction about needing to be played before the first German turn removed.
China #5 needs to be moved to #3 and replaced with Untamed Wilderness- There can be no more than one plane on an inland Chinese territory. Must be played before the first German turn.
U.K. #2 and #8 switch places and the (must be played before the first German turn) is taken from the old #2 and given to the old #8.
we also believe that 10 IPC’S is to much per card and that instead the large countries draw one from their deck at the beginning of each round and small countries every two or three rounds after the first round.

RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
wow :-o i really like the what you did with the cards they will defiantly change the game up for any veteran and from reading them they sound pretty balanced, will you be releasing them in card form with maybe pictures in a download.
do you think there is a chance to adapt these to Tigerman’s Global 1939 board? -
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
how are the cards coming? i know you might be busy. do you have any new documents to show or a progress report so we can get an idea of were you will need ideas next for the cards. :-)

RE: -A Painting Tutorial and Resource for A&A Global-
wow these are realy good.i have been painting models for a while and have wanted to do this to forever. do you use a spray to prime them before painting and do you use a gloss to finish them. also how long did it take you to paint the chinese ones? thanks.

RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
you are right Italy was nocked out of the war so fast they have not as much history or as many events to make cards from :|
-
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
Yes i sent you a reply :-)
*is Italy truly just a minor in the axis? i know their military was under trained and under equipped and outdated, but to keep the game at more of a balance shouldn’t they be given a little more? after all they do start the war with a relatively large military and navy in the med. i feel Italy should be given almost as much as Germany or Japan because they have the opportunity to become a major within the first 2-3 turns and should they become a major they should have the same tools as the other axis. maybe I’m wrong.

RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
Nice :-D i like that only one doctrine at a time, not one at a time for land air and sea at the same time. it will make long term goals more important and more of a concern. but when i asked i meant will there be only one doctrine for land air and sea doctrine to choose from for each country?
-
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
they all sound very good! will you choose only one for the land doctrine or two or more?
-
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
i agree, the doctrines are different from the national advantages in some cases. they are like the scorched earth policy, you have it as a national advantage but it would be more suited as a doctrine. the national advantages could be more physically representing like heavy tanks or bombers you have that the enemy doesn’t rather than policies or doctrines.
here are the definition of each. i hope this doesn’t look bad giving the definitions.
Advantage-any state, circumstance, opportunity, or means specially favorable to success, interest, or any desired end.
Doctrine-a particular principle, position, or policy taught or advocated, as of a religion or government -
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
i have a i think a great idea, it seems that there will be a lot of cards for each country because of all the different card types and from what dannyboy said at first that each country will choose one card at the beginning and must purchase additional cards that you probably won’t get to use very many cards each game. but my idea is instead of choosing one card at the beginning of the game each country will separate the Puppets, Cabinet Ministers, Commanders, National Advantages, and Doctrine cards into stacks and choose one from each. when they are done all the cards are shuffled together (except the 5 you choose off the top) for the game stack for that country. if they do this then it could represent the government for each country at the beginning of the war. this way you start the game with your own set up and get to use the cards right at the begging. also i thought that it would be better to instead of buying new cards with ipcs you could buy them with points earned at the purchase units faze by counting how many territories you have with an ipc value and dividing by (2 or 3?) and add that to the ones you may already have and that is how much you have to spend on cards (also maybe you can earn one every time you win a battle). these points would rep public opinion of the war or maybe how the government is handling the war at home and abroad.
i just thought of this and its late so there might be some things that don’t sound right. -
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
Ghost One- The Winter war already happened before the game started. Russia actually controls some of Finland that they took in the war at the start of the game.
yes you are right i forgot it happened right before the war
best of LUCK in your job search :-( -
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
let us know what you might be having trouble with ideas :-)
-
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
I think that’s a very good idea. :-D having disadvantage cards will let you have advantages that are usually just luck in real life (like Hitlers refusal to move his tanks from upper France to Normandy allowed the allies to gain a foot holed which would not have happened if Hitler had moved his tanks.) the disadvantage cards could provide advantages over specific countries.
-
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
an idea for a Russian event card is a winter war card to represent the Russian invasion of Finland before the Germans attacked. on the first round of combat Finnish units defend at a -1 and Russian attack at a +1. on the second round Finnish defend at a +1 and Russian attack at a -1 or regular. all rounds after that are normal. this would apply only once to a Russian attack on Finland.
-
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
Great :-D all that sounds good, i love the pic for the GPW. also if you have the time could you post an update list of the card types thanks  and keep asking questions about our thoughts it is appreciated.

RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
How about for a commander,Chief Marshal Dowding of the British.he decided to keep many air units in britian During and after Dunkirk to prepare British mainland defenses. he could give an extra plane in Britain if the card is played the turn after France is taken. :?
also can there be a card for the Italian Fascist militia and the communist conscripts. they would maybe be cards that cause inf to cost less for a turn or maybe cost less for the whole game and their defense is one less. :|
-also maybe an event card to rep the Russian recruitment of women in large numbers for skilled jobs like snipers, pilots for planes and tank
-
RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
I agree with otahere34. you should not limit the cards for anything. what those people did was horrible but history is history and people who don’t like the cards having war criminals on them should realize that you can’t change history you can only remember it. if anyone doesn’t like them on the cards they should just take them out when they print them off.
(also for a French military leader you should get a naval one because of all the navy France gets on the board) i am looking for one and will tell you when i find one

RE: Cards for Axis and Allies 1940
Wow i really like these, my friends and i just started using the national advantages you made and we were looking to improve them but these cards sound much better because they get more specific with the historical differences between the countries without them all going at the same time making the game overly complicated. i am really looking forward to these. you sound like you really know what you are talking about, but if you want any help with ideas or other things for the cards just ask we know what we are talking about to. probably not as much as you :-D but i think we can help a lot.
one idea for Russia is an event card to represent the battle of Kursk. say like the first time in the game #German tanks attack # Russian tanks the R tanks get # more tanks or a defense bonus to represent Stalins beefed up defenses.
