    • RE: Newbie Experiences!

My first time playing the game at all was just after this most recent Christmas.  I had been dying to try out the game, and so I gathered up a few other friends of mine and we got to playing.  But we started playing at 6 pm and it took us a really long time to finish the game, and I mean “really” long time.  Along the way, we pretty much had our noses in the gamebook on what we could and couldn’t do.  Ah, good times, good times.

    • RE: Germany Navy, Again

I was just wondering.  If you are going to conduct an amphibious assault on, let’s say Britain, and you have a BB, 3 dest and 3 trannies, and you have the ability to bombard land with your destroyers, is it possible to just go in, conduct shore bombardment and then retreat?  I know that sounds like a wuss out in not actually attempting to land your troops, but is that method possible?  I know that no one can fire back on ships conducting shore bombardment, but I just really want to know if i actually have to conduct the assault itself.

    • How can I strafe?

I keep reading about hte ability to strafe targets.  I’m not stupid in not knowing what strafing is, but in teh game, how does it work exactly? B/c you can’t just use hit and run tactics, the other country has to be able to return fire as well.  So there is the possiblity of losing fighters then, correct?

    • RE: Suicide Waves?

The US has enough money during the first few rounds to be able to effectively keep Japan at bay while helping the UK take on Germany.  I’m not really sure whta to recommend, but I don’t think (or doubt) you could focus your attention on the UK, Russia and the US without losing big somewhere.

    • RE: German fleet linked in SZ 7 on G2

      @Thamor:

That is one idea too, and really good one, very hard for germans to attack from baltic through the UK navy and still keep their navy alive.

If british will move their fleet to sz6, I would destroy it totally at the expense of baltic fleet, carrier and destroyer will move with the fleet. After destroying it, british are looking very weak. All their 1st turn purchases have been destroyed, no fleet around UK + 2 important UK fighters have been destroyed. And the german navy would sit with quite strong navy in sz6. Another thing is that the USA fleet would be wasted by 1sub 1trans 1bb 1bomb. I would try destroying both USA and UK fleets on G2, the tradeoff would be closing UK totally in fear of Operation Sea Lion, which I would start. Negative is that UK fleet is sitting in med in UK2.

Very costly operations for Germany and UK. But only try combining in sz7 if allies are going for KJF. To free india complex for Japan and end the game for German victory.

I would rather destroy the German mini fleet on Allies turn 1.

First UK 2fig 1bomb attack the fleet take out sub and trans, leaving their bomber alive if dices are rolling averagely. Then USA finishes the job with 2trans 1dest 1bomb, no more med fleet. USA should help with fighters to replace to UK AC around England.

I am somewhat confused.  If air units can attack sea units, then can sea units still defend against the air units?

    • RE: CSub strategies: still applicable to A&AR?

K, thanks very much.  I was a little bit in doubt and didn’t know the background of when that was started.

    • CSub strategies: still applicable to A&AR?

I was reading through these “articles” and was really wondering if what is suggested a player do is still possible now that the game board has been changed.  It still seems that when sea movements are being talked about, the old game board SZ are being referenced.  Also, the same goes for some land-based areas.  I know strategy is up to the player, but it’s always nice to read what possiblities are out there to help and aid.

    • Saskatchewan people: Regina or S'toon or all areas south of S'toon.

Hey, are there any prairie people around on here?  I’m looking for someone or many someones to strike up a game with or talk about it.  I’m doing a magazine piece for my print class and was hoping there might be people around who could talk to me about why the play, how they feel about it, that kind of ting.  thanks

    • RE: Placing new units

I too have a Q about the AA guns.  When I buy them and place them beside the Industrial Complex, during my next Non-combat move, can i move that piece to another spot and so on and so forth until it has reached the territory i want it ot defend?  I’m a little confused on how it moves.
